My brother went to Umass (I'm a masshole) and he even got to see them at an early bar gig! They were heroes to everyone at that school in the mid/late 80s Umass (Amherst of course) was a crazy place at the time, like a medium sized city full of extremely creative, political, artistic, angry kids. When I'd visit my brother I saw not dozens but hundreds of independent artsy papers everywhere. I grabbed handfuls and read them at home. This song captures the wild spirit of that time and place.

However, the entire "alternative" music scene of the 90s owed the Pixies big. You can even hear it in today's dreadful emo crap.
