  • jazz its suposed to have "swing" as latin music its suposed to have "sabor". this music has none of both. sorry. you should check how latin jazz music its played in latin amercia, really it has nothing to do with that. i recommend you listen to pedrito martinez group.

  • Edgar, que buen swing latino, no sabia que lo tocabas tan bien. Boris desde NC, USA.

  • Woaooo!!!, that is "Montuno" but with a good blend with Jazz..., excellent.. Thanks

  • very nice to find this one, since some years I had this magnificient flute on a old tape from ray, but never managed to find anything the same as on the tape... Untill today, thanks a lot.

  • Cha cha cha is part of salsa. As is mambo etc. Cha has a different percussion pattern to mambo - straight 4s on the cowbell for instance - but it still follows the clave and has the piano montuno/bass tumbao thing going on. It's my favourite - great to dance to! Ray Baretto is our hero.

  • so, is this a salsa?

  • It's a Cha Cha Cha rhythm, original recording made in the 1970s by ray Baretto.

I had to consult Casey on that one.

  • Thank you! I also consulted people and you're right - cha - cha- cha is anticipating the beat, while over a salsa you can sing 'makarena' for example; I see. Thank you.

P.S. I liked the 'shadow show' displayed on your website!
