  • If this is what country still sounded like, I would still listen. Today's country is garbage.

  • Hearing Cash's voice always calms me down for some reason, even though he is only talking for a moment there.

  • genial ... me hace pensar en mi amor ...lejano

  • They don't make stars like him anymore

  • Thanks to new vegas, many people know about him know.

  • RIPMartzy, miss ya!

Seen you last in Frankfurt at the CW-Show shortly before your untimely death.

Devil Woman still makes my spine shiver.

    Wolf

  • Sorry about that. Old age setting in on me!! LOL!

  • this is how you sing!

  • the name of the first song???

  • @baaadddiii Big Iron.

  • I think Johnny Cash was lying. A Boy Named Sue was written many years AFTER El Paso, so Marty Robbins would hardly be in a position to say he'd write a much better song than 'Sue'...

  • @Baskerville22 Johnny wasn't talking about A Boy Named Sue he was talking about Don't Take Your Gun's To Town.

  • @kittbttf You're right...

Sorry Johnny ! I don't know how I made that error.

  • @Baskerville22 The song was "Don't take your guns to town". Not a boy named sue.

  • @meigsman59

I had already apologized to Johnny for my error - see below

  • Best song in New Vegas...

  • @Scalatta I know. I started playing it today, and I heard this, so I looked it up. Great game

  • cash had a tv show? cool!

  • "Gun" stat lv. 100, you better believe I got a BIG iron on muh hip.

  • Fall out New Vegas....Thumbs Up

  • @DenseCloudz

This is why I looked it up ^^

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Marty was a great talent. Too bad we lost him at a young age.

  • Gun fighter ballads, does it get any better? the people who disliked Marty, i challenge you to a draw!

  • TRUE LEGEND....I don't care what anyone says he's the greatest country western singer ever.....the voice...the style....the song writing ability....Never going to be topped as a country artist.

  • @BigTimePride You are talking about the, Johnny Cash..right?

He's the greatest of all time(in my book)

  • Seroiusly, thanks for posting. Super video, super quality and the guy was great!

  • Marty was a treasure.. Thanks for posting!!

  • the best western singer ever. and johnny cash was also a great one. both will be missed

  • one kickass song if ya ask me. Love Johnny's humor!

  • I believe that not all counties broadcast in color, these clips were transferred from B/W 16mm film

  • Great clip. but by 1970, all the networks broadcast in color. How is it this is black and white?

  • This was in color, as I own the entire set of the Johnny cash DVD's. How Come B&W?

  • love him forever and forever my fav singer. he was one of a kind.

  • Marty Robbins = WESTERN LEGEND you gotta love him

  • What a distinctive voice and style. Great songs he sang. Missed him, died too young.

  • true country western songs

  • Marty looks much better here without the mustache... this song is great.

  • It really is amazing. I assume he knew he had a great song when he first recorded this, but I'm sure he had no idea how BIG it would really be. Awesome song. His signature song?

Remember the trilogy: Feleena, El Paso, and El Paso City. All three now on YouTube.

  • Many times i sold my fast gun for a place to lay my head......what lyrics...doesnt get any better

  • Many tvs were still black and white just as today there not all big screens or flat screens. People didnt have money for color in them thar days.I was a repairrman in those days selling used colors for 250.00 and up and all shows were not in color but that was the turnaround days ctc39 days(NORM)

  • TV was still B & W in 1970? Nahhhhh

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe the station's recording equipment was still set for black and white.

  • lol ! yep it was still b/w in 1970 it was about 73 on that all programs were made in colour And thats only if you had a colour tv set !!

  • I remember in the early 90s when I was a kid we still had a 13" black and white TV.

  • loved marty robbins. my fav singer of all time. thanks for sharing this

  • Magnificent performer, what a star!

  • running gun superb 10/10 rip mr robbins

  • in my book he was at the top of the top 40. i dont care what the powers that be said. he could sing anything. my favorite western singer. loved pride and the badge, she's just a drifter saddle tramp (my no 1) anything he sang

  • He should have been in the top 5 men of country music!! A fiasco indeed!!!!

  • And they wouldn't even put him in the 40 greatest men of country music. What a fiasco!

  • I wouldn't consider livin' without my "Big Iron!" Obama, come and take it away!

  • I was in a basement cowboy bar in Tokyo, no bigger than a subway bathroom when I spotted a Colt 45 on the wall.

As I was there as a celebrity, they let me play with it. Expecting a replica, I knew it was the real thing because it was awful heavy. I know why they call it "big iron"

  • Thanks for posting this montrealflickers, but that's not all of El Paso. There is a substantial piece that's not there. It's missing the part about him fleeing and then returning to be shot.

  • Johnny Cash says Marty Robins wrote a song called "El Paso" yet, Marty sings "Big Iron"...wonder if JC was all messed up?

  • I don't think he messed up. El Paso was such a big, tremendous hit that he just introduced him that way.

  • At 2:05 he starts singing "El Paso"

  • Comment removed

  • I know what you mean. But JC didnt say Marty was going to sing El Paso. He just said that Marty wrote a hit better than dont take your guns to town. Well noticed..

  • He did both, Big Iron then El Paso listen to it till the end.

  • No the reason it happened in that order is if you listen to all of the songs they link together telling a larger story many of his songs were that way

  • i'm am so glad my father had me listen to this artist when i was younger,it's to bad there is no true music on tv and the radio anymore *sigh*

  • Thanks so much for this great video.

  • saw marty at cov theatre in 76 absolutely brilliant gig his singing+playin was perfect a great entertainer

  • What a cool dude. Great singer and also participated in a few NASCAR races.

  • This is a great video! Marty Robbins is one of my favorites of all time. Every song he had was great.

  • I agree with them. Marty's my all-time favorite after spending a childhood listening to my dad's albums. Now my boys, 21, 18 and 12 know all the words, too!

  • a master of the country-western ballad that has yet to be equalled, let alone surpassed

  • It is a realy great pleasure to see this great man perform,he was the best singer that ever walked among us,he was a gift of God and so at the time that God needed him in Heaven He took him up at his side to sing with the angels and where Marty can rest in peace together with his lovely woman, his woman, his wife Marizona.Thank you somuch Montreal for posting this vid.

  • my dad loved him, now i have most of his albums in my loft. he was very good.

  • Brilliant clip.. I have viewed it many times and each time it's a pleasure.

    Thank you very much.

Again thank you very much for nice posting.

  • I've waited a long time to see this clips of Marty on the Cash show. It was worth waiting for and thanks for posting it montreal. I am a bit surprised it wasn't in color however.

  • I agree. I didn't know that there episodes of Cash's show in Black & white!!
