The percentage of whites to blacks in the tea party is well below the national average, which can influence perception. Secondly, it cannot be denied the racism/holding up of blatantly racist signs by people at tea party rallies. Those five people on the outskirts of a tea party rally were seen leaving in a van with SEIU painted on the side.
