One thing you forgot to mention which is very important! You for got to mean with the 16 inch on center go back 3/4 I see you doing it but you didn't say it on this video, I didn't caught it until I watched the second video:) I must say I really like to video you went straight to the point and showed what need to be done ..Perfect Thanks
@elricksta Thanks ! to toe nail start your fastener about 1-1/2" up from the end of the lumber on about a 20 degree angle as it starts to embed into the wood adjust your angle to about 45 degrees and finish driving it until it is snug. And yes I usually square everything, you get a nicer job that way. Thanks for watching and check out my forum on the website as well!
I have a fixer upper. I want to add a second story enclosure that's right off of a galley kitchen but I'm not sure how to keep the floors exactly level when I add it. I know know how to set the post, ledger board and joist I figure its a lil tricky when doing the floor transition.
@rawan2010100 Not sure exactly what you are referring to. Please go to my website and you will find a forum section where you can ask your question with a little more detail and I will try to answer it there. thanks
@HouseImprovements - Im pretty sure he is referring to where you explain how a 2x4 is 1.5"x3.5", so when you stack two 2x6's for the header, they only add up to 3" thick, which is 1/2" less than the wall, and so need to have a 1/2" filler peice to make it the proper width, you address this around 12:05, I think he just overlooked it.
Quick question tho: Why would you rather use nails for the fasteners vs screws? Just thinking that the threads on the screws would hold the studs together better. Is it because nails are cheaper and that it is not necessary to use screws?

Have you ever tried using Ez hang brackets on a window? They are made for doors but also work great on windows.

@HouseImprovements I think he means to put a 1/2 inch plywood between the two 2 x 6 header to bump it out to 3 1/2 inches.

@rawan2010100 Yes I needed to use 1/2" plywood to make up the difference in this case.

@Shermstyle23 The shearing off strength of normal #8 deck screws is less then a normal framing nail so they are considered weaker.
