Now, if you encrypt an entire volume without more than one partition on a Macintosh, will you be able to decrypt it on a Windows given that it has TrueCrypt installed on it?
when you encrypt a usb flash drive with TrueCrypt 7 how do you download Truecrypt 7 in the flash drive to use on any computer without having to install truecrypt on the computer?
I think some users are running into the this. When you fully encrypt the entire drive as shown here in the video, the next time you plug in your drive, your computer doesn't recognize it and will prompt you to format it. If you're not careful or accidentally hit OK on the format popup, then guess what?? your data is gone! For a novice, you're better off just spending the $20 to get an 8GB encrypted Kingston data locker drive with all that already built in. How much is your data worth?
@The4buster I believe you do pretty much the same thing, except when selecting the file you wish to encrypt, select the bottom option, and not the middle.
Im using a MAC ,so need a video or help to show or tell me step by step how i can use TRUECRYPT to entirely protect my USB 500gig external hardrive ,its not files i want to encrypt,its my entire 500gig external hardrive
Hi there is no links in your show notes to tutorial using a mac & im looking for a video to show how i can use Truecrypt to completely protect anyone accessing my 500gig USB External Hardrive so that i can drag & drop files/folders onto it & if I should ever lose my E hardrive , that noone will be able to access it at all on any mac or PC,any help will be really appreciated,thankyou
When I put the pendrive in the computer tells me that is not formatted. I lose the information if anyone formatted, or the flash drive is protected against accidental formatting?
caxkike: if windows asks you to format the drive, it just means that windows doesn't know how to read the drive (because it is encrypted). you should NOT press the Yes button when asked if you want to format it! that destroys the encryption and leaves you with a vanilla unencrypted drive. instead you should "mount" the drive using truecrypt.
hey. I tried this but when i clicked on my USB it said something about not being formatated? or something lika that and i had to click ok. after that i pasted my stuff in there but it didnt asked me for any password? then i took it out and plugged it in again but i doiesnt ask me for a password?HELP

@codelyokoblue
I also want to know this.

@codelyokoblue You wouldn't be able to. Think about it. Bacon and egg situation, kind of.
You'd have to make a container ON the pendrive, and have a portable version of TC stored on their with it.

This is nice, it has cross platform ability - unlike Windows' Bitlocker.
