Thank you for your comment! It is very comforting for me! I am going through a time of solitary confinement where I am still working on pieces, remembering the ones I have recorded, without cam at the moment (the one I used someone broke without caring to replace a similar or better good one). I learned the pice by listening to my mums harp playing. She was a very good harpist and as a child I could lie for hours on the carped playing and listening to her music and how she interpreted pieces.:-)
Too bad you didn't use a better microphone as this is by far the best recording of this piece on Youtube. I've listened to all kinds of versions and tempos and this is the most emotional of all.
By the way, just to satisfy my curiosity, did you keep the sustain pedal pressed all throughout the song? If so, good idea, I'll pay it like this too :D As soon as I get one that is... silly portable keyboard :(
I think this is by the best version I've heard so far. It conveys so much more feeling, and like the others here said, it's lovely to find someone who doesn't just bang it out as fast as they can - I get so tired of the speed obsession that seems to be prevalent on youtube. Personally, I'd much rather people focus on the musicality and expression of a piece.
At least there's one recording of this piece on youtube that isn't just a bunch of mindlessly fast key-banging. Very good interpretation--if only more people (including myself) could look beyond the notes on the page and convey the emotion of a piece so clearly and coherently. :-)
i have been teaching myslef to play since january 09 and am working on this piece. it is very difficult for me but your video is wonderful. it is helping me with cadence and fingering. it would be very helpful for us home learners if you can angel the camera higher so we can see your fingers better. that would be great....
You play it very well, but, I hear something like a pause between the first left hand tune and the first right hand tune in every measure.... is it on purpose ?
Sure man, no problem. I like your version because it is different than most recordings of this piece (such as mine! take a look on my page). I performed a faster version. Yours has more of a melodic feel to it, soothing in a way
A sensitive performance of this little masterpiece.

I always heard my mother Wilhelmine Bucherer (professional harpist) playing it on the harp. There I got the feel of it! :-) Thanks!

Omg yes, I agree completely with mar93ram. What ever happened to music being used to convey emotion? XD
awesome job!

Right! I do it by purpose. I looked up the German word for it: "schleppend". I think in English you could call it: "shuffle". :-)

Nice, but too romantic ! ;)
It's a Bach composition, using rubato is wrong.
Good performance, though.
