I think the pilot must have balls as big as coconuts just to try that landing! im thinking most of the negatives on here couldnt accomplish that landing on their playstation!
I hear there is a lot of wind here,. and this runway is not easy to land on... and due to high wind.. the plane needs more control to be able to land the plane... this plane is a small plane so it doesn't need that much lift to take off.. and while landing this guy lost a lot of "runway" if can say so,.. you need to catch the runway at the start specially on a small runway like this..

The hardest thing to teach any pilot is judgement of his own and the aircraft's abilities. Before any landing you need to determine a go around point. With that airplane and that runway and approach I would say it's probably the 1st 1/4 of the runway or less. Botching a difficult approach like that doesn't make him a bad pilot. Continuing the landing does.
haha @jimmybob383 the airport is called st barts. the wind probably had little to no impact on that landing seeing as if you have seen the runway you have to nose dive to it which increases airpspeed which means you have more to bleed off on your flare and he just didnt realize how far down the runway he was and totally forgot to overshoot. fyi you need a special permit to land here.. crazy!

This is an airport that you have to have special trainning to land at because of things like this. Your approach takes you about 10ft over a highway then if you don't touch down soon you end up like him.
@spike1104 thats why that island makes you have speacial training to land there. An airline won't hire pilots who don't have certifications to land there. The problem is is when private pilots come and think its no big deal.
From a pilot's stand point, NO he was NOT drunk I don't expect (Impossible to prove just using this video, but I don't know anyone smart enough to get a PPL who's also dumb enough to fly drunk).
He came in WAY too fast. Been there, done that. It's a simple mistake, and could even be a matter of a last minute wind shift. He SHOULD have gone around, throttled back up and made another go of it. That's the biggest mistake he made. Never feel like you HAVE to land. If it gets hairy, go around.

This is an overrun runway. I don't think the pilot was drunk; he should have made a go-around on this particulary difficult runway in St Barthelemy.. not enough length to brake as the flare was so long..
@pegase666 at the same time, there isn't much space to do a go around, this was probably th better outcome. if you wanted to a go around here, you'd have to be at a much higher altitude, with much more speed
@Sharod101 He should have and could have performed safely a go-aroud even at mid runway: enough speed for that (look at his fast approach speed and how the flare is so long due to the high velocity!) and no obstacles at runway end, the only way was to make a go-around. It appears clearly that the pilot attempted to land at any price!

thats why St. Barths is the most akward place to land, you ahve to come in REAL FAST or you won't be able to get over the hills, and then if you go too far down the runway, to high to land, and to fast to land, generally you're going to be too low to and too slow to get out, because at the other end of the runway, around the lake, are more mountians, in fact its not recommended you try it

On the other hand, before becoming airline pilot, I flew in this place as commercial pilot for more than 1 year, and I landed around 100 times on this runway, so I know what I'm talking about.
