Ja, dass ist wirklich ein krasser Bau, der den Wahnsinn der Nazis sehr gut aufzeigt. Ich war schon mehrfach dort und bin immer wieder geschockt, wie man so was bauen konnte.

@lappenstar07 Das war für mich kein besonders angenehmer Besuch, zumal das Wetter vor zwei Wochen sehr stürmisch war. Aber für eine Dokumentation macht man so etwas schon. Wie schon der Name "Kraft durch Freude" signalisiert, war das damals vor 80 Jahren nicht unbedingt ein Vergnügen für die "Urlauber"

@mantarayify Er steht unter Denkmalschutz. Man hat nach dem Krieg versucht, den Komplex abzureissen, ist aber an dem starken Beton gescheitert. Teile sind renoviert und werden als Jugendherberge genutzt,. Es gibt auch einige Museen und eine Disco.

@LostandFoundTravel The complex is a listed building. After the war, attempts have been made, to tear down the complex, but failed because of the thick concrete. Parts are refurbished and used as a youth hostel. There are also several museums and a disco.

It was not to long ago on an engl, Tv Documentary - but of course a personal video is always better. Thanks. I have never been there and won't make it in this life - lol . Then again , why on earth don't they just demolish it and use the ground for something useful ? It is such a waste of space and ugly to boot !

@Duwalopa They had tried to demolish all the buildings. The demolition of houses but did not bring the desired result - the KDF resort is apparently unbreakable. Prora is now a listed building.

@Duwalopa But next door is the seaside resort of Binz - 2 miles in distance. It is also because of its villa-like Architektur one the most beautiful seaside resorts in the world. I will also issue a video about Binz, then you can see, how wonderful is the Baltic Sea coast.

The houses there are renovated. The rest are uninhabited, only a few museums, restaurants and a nightclub is housed there. Before the change in the GDR, the East German army was stationed there.

am Ende des Komplexes sind einige Gebäude renoviert. Bis dorthin waren es allerdings eine Stunde Fußmarsch, das war mir dann zu weit - vor allem ist dort alles gleich - etwas langweilig. Dort gibt es die längste Jugendherberge der Welt.
