Jack is a informal nickname of John, like Mike to Michael or Chris to Christopher or Tommy/Tom to Thomas. While the other examples are obvious, I don't know the connection between Jack and John. Another example is John Kennedy, the US President. He was often referred to by his friends as Jack, or Jack Kennedy.

shame, I remember when I was playing this I was wishing I could have put a bomb on sokolov in secret, then when the Boss Says "it's time we go to the very depths of Hell itself" I would have said "you're right" jumped backwards off the bridge, and detonate the bomb, the explosion would kill Sokolov, The Cobras, The Boss and Volgin who I beleive is also on the bridge, all at once, and still not cause any real time paradoxes cause Ocelot's in a seperate Helicopter.
