This was amazing!!! Im even more convinced to have a home birth if I ever have children! And i loved that you had the kids in there to! That something special they will always remember!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Congrats on your Beautiful baby girl and I love her name :)..... I agree that children do not learn to fear things unless their parents or those around them exhibit fear... Its a personal choice to have your children present and your birth was beautiful... Great Job
I personally think it's amazing that your children were there, especially seeing as they wanted to be there, and your daughter should be very proud of herself for helping to catch the little one!
Thats the way it's supposed to be. We made it like that in former days, we must have forgotten that waterbirths were standard, before we had to live for generations in the desert.
@BeasBaby96 and for any births you have had or may have that is your right. My children weren't forced to be present for the birth. They were not upset by it but they knew what to expect. We had an adult present to take care of them an if at any time one or more of them wanted to leave they could have easily. They WANTED to be there. Children aren't innately fearful of birth. It is the adults around them that are fearful of it that make them afraid.
@Yalf111 The children all had a choice in whether or not they would be in the room for the birth. I made sure they knew what to expect by allowing them to watch some waterbirths on video. They were not in the room while I labored only at then end when she emerged.
Steph! Yay! Beautiful birth! Just like Brenden's : ) Have a lovely birthday of your own and then a sweet labor day and babymoon. luv to the family. Birth blessings, Rosie
Yep it is so cool that she got to catch her little sister and she's getting ready to catch another little sister in about 8 weeks! Stay tuned for another video.
Wow! Another Aoibheann! The only two ways I have ever heard it pronounced is Eve-een or Eavan (like even). Never have heard of Ay-VEEN. Where are you from?
Her big sister wants to be a midwife and was supposed to catch her second little brother at his homebirth but he came so fast she missed it! We were very careful to make sure that didn't happen again. I'm glad that she got to see how wonderful unmedicated birth can be. She wasn't scared at all. I hope she carries the experience wth her through her own births.
How old is your daughter? She looks pretty young but I can't really tell too well. We are expecting a baby any time now and my almost 7 and 5 year old are super excited. They witnessed my last birth but didn't "assist" in any way. They would be all over hopping in the aqua doula to help this new little one into the world.
My daughter was nine but we had planned to have her catch my last baby when she was six almost seven. With this birth after the baby was born my five year old son got in the tub with us until it was time to deliver the placenta. They learned a lot from it and I don't think it is an experience they will forget! Show your kids the video and everyone is comfortable, why not let them have an active role?
Baby is due April 11th. We've had 3 false alarms already and counting:) I want to put a slideshow montage up on youtube to announce the birth, but will probably do it under my anonymous youtube name. I'll let you know when it goes up.
Her name is pronounced EVE-EEN or EVE-AN and it is Gaelic meaning, pleasant, beautiful sheen, of radiant beauty. In so many words it just means beautiful!
