  • I was surprised how much they borrowed from the "Little Girl Lost" episode in Twilight Zone.

  • I hate how Family Guy ruined this excellent movie with incredibly crappy jokes.

  • Spirits can't rob humans into the spiritual realm. That was one of the only bullshits of the film besides the tree coming to life. The scariest thing was that little old lady talkin', she gave me the creeps. I don't care if a haunted house is nice...I will step nowhere into it. Can U imagine a ghost saying gurl, you're looking good. Hairraiser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:23 she is on south park

  • Scary Movie did a parody of that Scary Clown scene.. but instead the Clown Gets Fucked up pretty badly. Litterally.

  • that woman and her creepy voice made the movie for me.

  • The portal is Meg's ass.

    end film

  • Isn't using real skeletons, kind of disrespecting the dead? I mean, it's kinda like stepping on someones grave.

  • @Yognaught111 more like pissing on it :D

  • I always remember the evil tree.

  • Imagine if you donated your body to medicine, and it was used to film a horror movie.

  • @hang1iderswing I would be pissed and kill the cast members too?

  • @demonjack123 Haha, me too, probably.

  • Tobe Hooper used real skeletons in TCM, so I wouldn't be suprised.

  • A movie with real skeletons instead of fake ones, finally.

  • Very awesome movie and Review! The film looks like its made in 1996. Just saying

  • @mrlegofan404 What's that suppose to mean?

  • @mrlegofan404 How does it look like it was made in 96. It looks way older than that!

  • I remember something similiar in the Simpsons, with the dimensions..

  • @MaxPayneIzRudog Probably a parody

  • Did you know the clown from this movie was an actual toy that you could buy at the time and not just a prop for the movie. I can only imagine how many kids were scared shitless after seeing this.

  • @Bannersnake I was 4.

  • This is probably on my top 10 horror movies of all time! Great acting, awesome special-effects (which still hold up pretty well today), and a very haunting soundtrack. Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper did an excellent job with this one! I didn't care much for the sequels, though. But I will admit that Julian Beck did a very good job at portraying the role of Reverend Kane (AKA "The Beast") in "Poltergeist II: The Other Side". As for P3, that one was a total waste of time!

  • We watched this at school when I was 10. I found it quite disturbing, but I think I was the only one. I'd not seen many films prior to it, and this was in the days before Internet so I wasn't particularly desensitized. That scene where the guy ripped his face off grossed me out, but it looks pretty fake now.

  • scary movie 2 made a parody about poltergeist

  • csary movie 2 made a parody about pltergeist

  • Is Anyone Else Mind Fucked On The Fact This Movies Rated PG

  • @SSJSasuke777 No PG-13 at the time

  • This flick can be frightening, but it also makes me laugh at times. Certain moments of this flick are so over the top that they're actualy screwball, cartoonish and practicaly comical to me. I've always found it has an underlying sense of humor underneath the scarry and dramatic aspect. At times it even remindes me a bit of that Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland ( if you've ever been there ).

  • Nothing holds up to it? I dont know, there's also Amityville Horror, The Changeling, The Haunting ( the old one ) and, of course, the Casper movies .

  • is this poltergeist ir south park at 1:39

  • you should do one on the exorcist

  • @GenesectOvertune he did

  • dude, my friends graveyard story is scarier than this

  • scary movie 2 copied the clown scene from this movie

  • @bestintheworld90 No, it parodied it and used it in it. But in a way, yes, that's kind of copying, kind of...

  • that girl died at age 12?? the poltergeist curse exists..

  • 1:45 LOL, Southpark made fun of this scene after the Death of Michael Jackson.

  • I remember being quite young when I saw this. My parents didn't have enough sense to leave me at home with a babysitter. Instead, I got dragged to this. I remember the theater was packed and people RAN OUT OF IT scared shitless. Yes, it was a "you had to be there" moment, but don't tell me that this movie isn't scary at all.

  • i hated this movie because 1 it wasnt scary 2 it was boring

  • Comment removed

  • has to be the most overated "scary" movie ever! not scary at all. if u were scared by this you must have been very young. watched it recently and it was a complete joke

  • The spirits are.... PEDOPHILES.

    DUN DUN DUUUUNNNNNNNNNNN

  • fuck that clown man

  • Ronald McDonald! If you watch family guy you might get the reference lol

  • YOU TOOK THE TOMBSTONES BUT YOU LEFT THE BODIES!!!!

  • the clown gave me a heart attack

  • this movie wow i remember watching it :3

  • Dead at age 12. Man, such a pity Heather lived such a short life.

  • THEIR HERREEEEEE

  • 2:00 heheheehehhe propane

  • Have you by any chance read the MLP fanfic Fallout:Equestria?

  • classic movie!! the tree scared the shit out of me

  • that was from family guy

  • @mike86438

    Nope.

  • @mike86438 with ronald mcdonald LOL

  • @mike86438 So I'm really wondering WHY did THIS comment get voted to the top, .. . because he said Family Guy?? GENIOUS!! Aparently 14 morons have visited this page .

  • @mike86438 yes that was a parody

  • @mike86438 im watching it right now!!!

  • I love the theme song to Poltergeist

  • 0:32 I jumped out of my chair!!!!

  • this one and hellraiser omg evil pure evil stuff

  • @Pepsiuser50 after i saw his comment the clown fuck scared the shit out of me and the i reed your comment lol XD

  • James is great for making these videos but I really didn't like Poltergeist. I think it was highly overrated. The clown scene at the end was ok. But the first time i watched it was alone at night and it didn't scare me at all. I thought it must be for kids. Even the face peeling scene looked silly. the terminator eye scene was scarier IMO

  • Mr. Teague was behind it all because the reason why the house was built under a graveyard. What the hell was he thinking? But it was your fault!!!

  • I was in single digits when I saw this in the early 90s. Terrified me! Saw the second movie and was equally creeped out. Saw the third and was confused. Saw the third last year and was pissed off...

  • just recently i saw it was rated PG so i thought it was going to be like calm but scary kinda thing, i was so wrong......... i wasent scared, but more disturbed. plus i was just scared that my poor gental mom was going to have a heart attack over it.

  • This was the first movie that I remember truly scaring the crap out of me.

  • Those skeletons were on that property while filming & were disturbed which leads to the deaths.

  • Who else saw this on family guy first :3 ?

  • I guess you could say "Insidious" was sort of like an homage to this

  • @Vyrophyl ...What? I was busy talking to my TV.

  • i know a guy, which has cancer, he told me that he is heather and i was like wtf? and then he told me something about "Super Children", so he says he once was heather and her spirit is like "trapped" in his body, he could remember anything, pretty creepy huh?

  • 0:38 UNCLE RAY RAYS GOTTA GAME!

  • These are fantastic! Thanks for doing these!

  • family guys version of this is funny :P

  • OMG I still have DREAMS about this movie!!

  • What's the song playing in the background? With the girl singing?

  • fuck that clown!

  • A lot of people say Spielburg is a "movie murdering fucker" but I really liked his film Saving Private Ryan.

Same thing goes for George Lucas. Star Wars was a box office hit and raked in millions and it has a whole convention.....literally a CONVENTION about it.

  • 0:35 scared the shit out of me especially when im wearing headphones

  • omg that was one creepy movie I saw it when I was 6 years old and thanks to this movie I have a fear of clowns Hey james can you plz do the sleep away camp movies. plz plz plz plz yes it bone chilling to this day I can't watch Poltergiest with having nightmares and i am in my late 30's

  • That clown scene scared the SHIT out of ME!

  • @hanseykemmerer i was like wtf that's just wrong

  • @hanseykemmerer the clown gets what he deserves in scary movie 2

  • @hanseykemmerer same here bro.i saw both this movie and pet cemetery on a halloween scary movie marathon a while ago and was a kid.my be scared the shit out of me that night.

  • @hanseykemmerer bed i mean

  • @hanseykemmerer even after reading your comment when the clown scene hit me it felt like the shock from a pair of defibrelators

  • @hanseykemmerer That scene gave my a pathological fear of clowns to this day.

  • @Cap285 i know how you feel, playing this scary game called penumbra gave me a pathological fear to where if i see a dog i get really nervous

  • @hanseykemmerer løl scardy pants

  • Did you say the skeletons might have been real?

    ... God ... that's so stupid.

I mean, think about it. What's the movie about?

And they went and used real skeletons?

No wonder all those people ended up dying shortly thereafter.

  • @gabrielapetrie Yep, cheaper then plastic and rubber skeletons. Use real ones and save a bundle, just make sure you get a full check up after being around them! Yes, those were someones grandpa and grandma floating around in that yucky pool! (o_O)

  • @BluTrilobite ... yeah, they apparently were shipped in from India. I guess there were a lot of people dying in India then, just as now, and I guess India was willing to sell their dead for money. BUT THAT'S SO BESIDES THE POINT! I mean... ... the "Poltergeist Curse"... and these people were playing games with dead bodies? Pantomiming with them, using them as stage props... *PUUUUUKE*

  • @gabrielapetrie Yeah, some weird energy had to be going around then!

  • Movie forever made me fear clowns!

  • 0:37 OMG CLOWN RAPE! :O

  • Never seen this and don't know if it'd feel dated if I watched it now. Any thoughts?

  • @MultiFunkalicious Great film, creepy yet interesting. Dated....yes in way because of the style of clothes and cars and other small items but nothing that makes it hookie or un-watchable. The effects are great and still stand-up, the skeletons are real, nasty! CGI effects of today just can compare to that shit!

  • @BluTrilobite Thanks for replying man, I just wasn't sure if it was going to be goofy lol, I'll give it a watch! :)

  • @MultiFunkalicious No, not goofy at all! Good, creepy, weird and a decent watch ever after all these years. The clown and the old tree still spook me to this day! Then there is the guy ripping his face off.....wow! Sometimes the dead do talk back, listen well when they do!

  • They ripping his own face still freaks me out.

By the way.. This house is clean

  • I don't believe in movie curses! I'm gonna make a spoof of Poltergeist. If i get myself in a hospital with me having casts and a wheelchair for a few months, yea it's a curse; but if I'm fine through out thr whole thing, then their is no curse at all.

  • wow made me wanna rewatch it...I remember that I didnt like it, but I havent seen it in ~10years....time for a rewatch!

  • i shit my pants for that motherfucker clown

  • 1:17 Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode when Homer and Bart turn CGI.

  • 0:18 and yes I am a perv :P

  • spoilers right off the bat

  • I really used to be scared shitless by clowns especially this one and IT. but ever since I saw scary movie 2 when he wraps his dick around the clown I just bust out laughing when I see clowns lol

  • Parodied on Family Guy

  • They're Herrrrrreeeeee

  • Do silent night deadly night

  • 0:35 FUCK that scared me...

  • i remember this going on cnn here in romania ... the scene with the guy ripping its face off was just so creepy

  • 0:32 I just remember the Scary Movie seen whenever I see this, the one where Shawn Wayan rapes the clown.

  • So THAT'S where that MLP ad came from...

  • @racoonknux49 eeyup

  • "Hehehe, propane.."

  • Great film, great twilight zone episode

  • how did the 12 year old die? i just curious im mean she is just 12

  • @ken01ization google

  • @deathman1021 i would but whats her name again?

  • @ken01ization go to imdb, search poltergeist, or watch the video again

  • @deathman1021 oh um wasn't expecting that.... R.I.P.

  • @ken01ization now share with the class what you learned to avoid others asking the same thing

  • @ken01ization I believe she died of some form of Cancer

  • @ken01ization Heather O'Rourke died from Crohn's Disease.

  • @ShredderzGirl No, she didn't. It was a medical error that caused a lot of media backlash throughout the years. She was prescribed medicine to ease the pain of her apparent Crohn's Disease, but the medicine made her sick even more, and she died of cardiac arrest.

  • omg thanks to this movie i have a fear of clowns I saw at age 5 or 6

  • James! Keep doing what you're doing brother. Love your reviews of both movies I've seen and loved over and over again, and the ones that I've always been interested in seeing but never had a couple of hours of attention to devote to a really bad (or even good) horror film from the 30's or 40's. All I can suggest/complain about is that they should be longer.

  • If you use real skelletons, its more likely that the cast would be haunted!

  • Spielberg you made a great film, but you made tv and the national anthem scary after midnight? WHY?!..........WHY?!..........WHYYYYYYYY.............?!

  • Okay... Where the hell's Ash when you need him?

  • fantastic movie

  • 1:56 " YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

  • so much stuff is ripped from the twilight zone i would write a list but theres honestly SOOOO MUCH

  • @TheShakiebreaks NO KIDING. its astounding. My favorite rip off is Talking tena the doll and chucky.

  • every house in US is built on some sort of burial grounds lol

  • Ponygeist

  • @bobdash101 i saw this billboard yesterday :3

  • Poltergeist - Classic

Poltergeist 2 - Just as good

    Poltergeist 3 - ASS

  • @Teenlego should have said poltergeist 2 - one of the most awesome horror villians ever.

  • @Teenlego I would not say 2 is anywhere near as good as 1 but it's a masterpiece compared to 3.

  • 0:50 "The spirits target 5 year old Carol" I WISH her name was just Carol...

  • the twilight zone episode of this is pretty cool.

  • the ghosts are such dickheads in this. wtf did this family do to you guys?

  • @viking977 Build a house over their graves, with their corpses still inside said graves. Yeah, I'd be pissed too.

  • Personally I thought The Changeling was a far better ghost movie than Poltergeist. Both great movies though.

  • 1:13 Simpsons parodied.

  • 0:32 you know it's coming and you still jump. Now THAT is the sign of a great horror movie (at least in my opinion.)

  • clown part scared the heck out of me

  • I always hated that clown

  • Wow. The woman speaking at 1:34 (Zelda Rubinstein) was in an episode of Tales From The Crypt. The New Arrival.

  • @VashDraven And she did the voiceover in "Scariest Places on Earth."

  • Heather O'Rourke didn't die until after her last role on poltergeist 3

  • it is a spoof

  • wow they used the real skeleton in 80s.

  • Every other horror movie sat with me well. Only THIS one made me sleep with the light on for 4 days.

  • I'm pretty happy that I live in the town they made the movie.

  • its the creepy docor from south park

  • That clown scared the SHIT out of me!

  • @mgfan100 me too hahha

  • stewie there here lol

  • It's carol-anne, not just carol.

  • Is that yellow stuff supposed to drip down my legs?

  • 2:01 "HAHAHAHAHAH........Propane"

  • @juventinorocks Family Guy sucks.

  • @MrProfessorElemental Good for you:)
