I love how on their website they have their cover of paper planes! its so much love! anyone who doesnt know that song look it up. original first then the SSSC cover.
And ull recognize that it was the Pineapple Express theme.
They got them from an Army Surplus store. those r Marine Jackets. all they did was buy em and slap a SSSC sticker on them. And so far they havent talked about merching them, and if they did theyd look different from those. Less Military like, as do to some law. blah blah blah just what i heard from their Blogs.
And Style wise the design wouldnt be completely different theyd just miss a few military designs on them and would most likely be black and some other color and not black and red but other than that theyd look pretty similar. ud just be looking a little less military like.
Also idk if this is true or not but ive been hearing rumors of the jackets being merched sometime soon. however ill have to check for myself b4 i believe it and so far i cant find any links 4 them
However the shirts they have on under them r sold at their concerts. i havent found them anywhere else tho. u could try hot topic as they have alot of band shirts. or of course check the band site and try finding any district lines links or other merch links.
Sorry for all the replies. however i wanted to leave u with their merch site.
And im just realizing u cant post links anymore XD. the easiest route would be googling Street Sweeper Social Club then clicking their website and clicking Merch.
They have about 4-5 shirts a couple posters and their albums marked down and a bandana. thats about it.
They started out a year ago, first album was released june 16th 2009. They did a couple of shows as The Nightwatchman and Boots before officially joining forces
@MenteMaestra999 I saw them live as they opened for NIN's last concert. that all in all was the coolest thing ever but it gets better. Morello's solo live made me cry it was the coolest thing i've seen in my LIIIIIIIIIFE it was EVEN better live.
Respond to this if you agree>> This is clearly a revolutionary step in music, I often hear adults complaining about music today and how its not "real music"..well this is a genious idea from street sweeper, combining what the youth know today with the classic late 70s early 80s rock sound will definetly create a new sound in the industry, I LOVE it. Its give you that rebellious "obnoxious" feeling when you listen to it..you could definetly party to this, even fashion from that era is coming back
@interlake1234567 I agree. Only it's me who calls the music fake not my parents. They use nothing but computers and editing because people can't sing two things at the same time or auto tune their voice with out it. Tom Morello can produce any sound effect they use ten times better on the guitar.
prolly related to oz - an ounce of drug, usually weed.
Someone earlier thought it might relate to farmers growing weed rather the corn to feed the people. The line "ain't shit cooking on the stove but crack", backs this up
@stryni: Would have thought so initially..but when you consider the lyrics around o-z (an ounce), such as "banks" "circulate" "cash" and "the fed" (reference to the federal reserve, not the FBI), i think he's more likely talking about gold. The price of gold has risen massively in recent years, as it does during times of 'crisis'. Some have made a killing while the masses struggle - capitalism is crippling us, try real socialism! :)
...Read Althusser. The Machine wins. All you can do is enjoy your relative autonomy while it lasts- you will be interpellated to a man (woman, etc.) In an unrelated not, pretty good guitar player.
Let's campaign for SSSC, The Coup, One Day As A Lion and The Nightwatchman join the Huge Free Gig that Rage will be throwing in the UK early next year to celebrate people taking the power back from the machine
But they're not, in the technical sense. Communists believe that if things continue the way they are for long enough, eventually people will just get pissed off and revolt.
Rage Against the Machine made their mark by randomly popping up and trying to incite revolution. Their ideas are more violent than standard communist ideals. I guess you could say they're sorta Marxist, as opposed to communist, but even that's a stretch.
It's a thin line between waiting for people to get pissed off and being the people who are pissed off. They don't feel as vanguardist to me as they do to you - seems to me they're the same people who are pissed off like you and me and the rest of the proletariat, just a bit more musically talented.
But they're not just the people who're pissed off, or the people who're waiting for other people to be pissed off. That's what I'm saying.
They're not just angry, they're trying to make everyone else angry, too. That's why they do things like get kicked off the air on Saturday Night Live, or stand naked on stage and refuse to play a show to protest censorship, or, more recently, start proudly screaming the 'Fuck you I wont do what you tell me' bit of Killing in the Name on British public radio.
Yup. That they are - organic intellectuals. That doesn't make them any less of a communist, unless all communists are lazy and dislike proactive organization ;) Now if they were agitating in contradiction to economic reality, then I agree, you would be right. That would just be a case of SSSC creating class antagonism out of thin air. However, I feel people who sympathize with SSSC have revolutionary potential to begin with.
OZ is a drug reference but definitely in context. Just like "nothing cookin' on the stove but crack" it's got to refer the drug trade being the only way to survive in the "ghetto trap"
Ops. accidentially deleted a comment on how the solo sounds like a mash-up of audioslave solos. my intention was to comment on that, so here goes nothing:
It was originally a mash up of Tom Morello solos from ratm and audioslave. The solo is first featured on the Bruce Springsteen colab on Ghost of Tom Joad, check it out

ehh... wrong. SSSC is formed in 2006 and Boots Riley formed the band with Tom Morello, so he was there from the start.
Their first album is from 2009 though.
