@ShawDAMAN But how come this was the first ever documented case of unassisted human voice breaking a glass? If any opera singer could do it in two tries, how come it has never been demonstrated on camera?
@UngodlyFre There's a first for everything...? Operatic voices are trained and produced with the sole intention of projecting, unamplified, in huge auditoriums. The human voice can hardly be more big focused or harmonically 'rich.' It so happens for this staged/filmed demonstration that they chose a rock singer; it's just my informed opinion that it would have been over more quickly if they had used an opera singer... of course, that would have been less material for programming ;)
he has videos where he does it quite effortlessly, he was actually sick when he came in for the show, it almost got cancelled because it was affecting his voice.
@indendunklenschatten really? a glass saw this video? an inanimate object viewed this video and clicked the dislike button? god you people make the worst jokes
@Eltimbalero7499 those frequencies that break glass start from 1 and end at 10 khz.in which frequency the glass breaks depends on its characteristics, like the thikness.the only thing that you want now is software that can reproduce those frequencies
@tasos853 you can make play those freequencies with your speakers by using tone generator program(search for it and you ll find it).you can put to play a frequency and VOILA!
of course, its always fake. when something unreal happens or when something is a first, or you THINK it looks a little weird, its always fake. Always.
READ THIS,PLEASE i am 12 and i think i could do just what they did with the right materials/stuff and I AM NOT LYING and maybe record it,so who believes me thumbs up,please?
So what they proved is that its fairly easy to shatter glass w/ sound if you can find/hit the right note & do it loud enough? (Thats why it was so much easier to do with amplification right? Cuz the singer only had to hit the note that matched the glass rather than hit the right note AND sing the note loud enough?) So hypothetically could a singer have special glasses made that resonated a note that suited them (one they knew they could sustain at loud volume) so they could smash them on cue??
@xokatyxo the reason that this myth is busted is the fact that there is a very large concentration of sound pressure at the nearfield; when they ported the speakers by placing a 2" hole board in front of it they directed sound pressure in one specific area of the glass this is analgous to your mouth close to the glass. They found that by playing a same or very similar tone to the glass that it would resonate (vibrate to the sound waves) enough to fracture the glass itself.
@xokatyxo To answer your question it could be done if you have someone sing into your eye glasses that has broken a wine glass the same way but consider 1) you may sustain cuts and shards of glass in your eye area 2) eyeglassses may be of more durable glass than a wine glass 3) try it out and blog about it.. i esp want to know if you loose an eye
Does he really want to hold the glasses so close to his face if he's trying to shatter them?

an opera singer could have done that in one or 2 attempts I bet. A falsetto-heavy rock singer can't compare in terms of volume.

also, don't assume he's a falsetto-heavy singer just because he used falsetto to break a wine glass.

Note that they could not even destroy ,ost glasses, though they choose glasses that look much more fagile then myine.
And mine have quality.
These are picked.
Picked to be easy to destroy.
Not a surprise it works.

They cheated, by taking choosen glasses much like those spoon benders.
You can do it with prepared spoons or prepared glasses, but not with any glass or any spoon or an average glass or spoon.
Only if the integreity of the glass is broken you can do it, which is not anything special.
schusterlehrling 1 year ago
@schusterlehrling if it was broken it wouldnt resonate well and probably wouldn't be possible.
mandowarrior123 10 months ago
@schusterlehrling
the integrity of the glass is broken, not the glass.
So it looks all right, but is in fact preparred.
Like those Uri Gelelr spoons:
They are made with a material that bends if heated up.
All you have to do is rub a bit and they bend by themselves.
All you have to do here is cause only very light waves, and it breakes along the lines of the weakend surface integrity.
Simple phyiscs, and a cheat easy to see.
I suppose you had no meachnics taught at school.
