It is different because the 4870 X2 is a different card to the regular 4870. It is more powerful.

Its basically 2 4870 chips running on 1 card, so it seemlessly crossfires better as it's all comming from the same place.

The Video poster here has two of these cards meaning he has 2 cards both with 2 4870 chips on them making it a quadfire setup.
