hi chris really like your segments can u help me please, i have a 1000s sport classic i put the termis and the ecu in it sound great yet there is a little plug and some little electric looking thing the plug looks like a sump plug i think it goes on the muffler can u give me some info please

Is (DIY) Ducati servicing comparable to for e.g. Honda servicing? I've recently fallen in love with Ducati bikes after my boss showed me his collection (999, 848, 748, two Hypermotards and a Desmosedici. Anyway,) but I didn't buy a Duc before due to the potential need of expensive special tools. Is it just as easy for basic servicing (chain, clutch, belts, brakes etc.)?

@dazzelya : Most Ducatis can be serviced without special tools. We do normally recommend people to buy the crankshaft turning tool, but it is under $100. Some of the Superbike models have "tapered" or "cone" valve keepers. I would suggest you avoid buying one of those if you seek to do your own maintenance. I personally would prefer to perform a valve adjustment on any air-cooled Ducati compared to the FZRs, CBRs, ZXs, and GSXRs that we worked on back in the 90s.

Excellent video. I wonder one thing: Do you have to have a microphone? Is there no other way to check this? In the 750-900 SS engine can use an Allen trick? It does not work on the 1000 DS engine?

@gaffeltroll : We haven't heard from people comparing the tensioning methods, so there isn't enough information to declare whether or not the allen key trick will work on 1000 engine family. Doing it with the microphone is so easy and far more accurate.
