Receivers are out there to catch the ball, anything else is a bonus. Aromashadu's ability to get open and catch the ball is all that is needed from him and he excels at doing that. Johnny Knox has great potential to be a star, but during some plays he looks a little lost on the field. He cuts his routes early, and rarely runs a good route. He just needs a little more discipline to really achieve all the tools of becoming an elite receiver. He also may be a little small at 6'.

I'm going to chock this whole video up to shitty reviews from a douche bag fan that's just upset the Bears didn't make the playoffs in 2009 and for some reason that's all Devin Aromashodu's fault. Yeah, DA probably isn't a #1 receiver in this league, but I'm pretty convinced that that's not even what they had in mind when they got him in the first place. Bottom line is he gets the job done, he's a great route runner which is the real reason why he's wide open most of the time.

Aromashodu is a possession receiver. If I could post more, I'd take you through each high light slowly, so you could understand it. Instead, I'll have to settle with this.
A possession receiver is not meant to break off long runs after the catch, but to haul in those difficult to catch balls for the first down, which he does a lot in the video you showed. Think of him as a less athletic Larry Fitzgerald in a Bears uniform.

The catch in the broncos game, he was still pushing against the 5-6 defenders trying to tackle him. During the giants game, he was completely extended, so he wasn't balanced. And during the Vikings game when he "goes down without being touched" he is fully extended for the ball while he is in the air. i just broke down the first few plays and watched the rest besides two plays you were wrong. Im not saying you hate aromashodu you just like olsen alot more and want to justify his play. Think of it like this olsen was drafted in the first rd and Devin was undrafted. Olsen is payed alot more than Devin. Receivers are out there to catch the ball, anything else is a bonus. Aromashadu's ability to get open and catch the ball is all that is needed from him and he excels at doing that. Johnny Knox has great potential to be a star, but during some plays he looks a little lost on the field. He cuts his routes early, and rarely runs a good route. He just needs a little more discipline to really achieve all the tools of becoming an elite receiver. He also may be a little small at 6'.
