  • A COUNTRY BOY IS ALL I'LL EVER BE!

  • wow, 10 years and all for nothing because of mis education. catching something and leaving it to die. put it back! the quality of the fish would have been better because of that guy taking down the weak. its people like this who give all those left wing fishing exterminators more amunition.

  • lol

  • excellent camera man

  • just letting you know, gars eat mostly dead things, not all your bass and bream

  • gars don't eat other fish,. well they do but they don't ruin the population. don't kill them. its the snakeheads that do! Gars are awesome! its the snakeheads killing everything

  • gars don't eat other fish,. well they do but they don't ruin the population. don't kill them. its the snakeheads that do!

  • GETER DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow so u killed it i wanna kill you nigger

  • @FishinKid365 there is alot more gar than you think, in some places you cant real in a fish without them eating it off the line

  • pick it up puss

  • i have one of these in my fiance's pond i fish in. just about as big. had him for a while... just keeps growing and living. i like him. he just chills in the shallow water a lot. but disapeers every once and a while.

  • I feel bad for the longnosed gar, lucky to have had that in your pond. 1 of 2 things had to have happened, he got in when you were stocking bait fish, 2 if you pond is hooked into a stream which I doubt it could have gotten in like that, he was your ponds top predator and they are rare I wish you'd released him. BTW i'm an avid bassfisherman

  • looks like a skinny arowanna

  • bsterds eat fish

  • those fuckers bite and they wont let go till u kill them seriously they're gay!

    your retarded

  • I want a smaller one of those in my fish tank.

  • i have been bitten by gar many times..it hurts and they wont let go. when i cut it's throat it let go.

  • i fkin hate gar fish everytime i catch them bastards they fkin break my line and i lose my damn bait

  • really? I'll be damned. what with "gar fish" not being anything like what they caught. That's a gar. not a gar fish. jackass. a gar fish is much different.

  • Be carful out there, don't let one of them gar things get ya.

  • nice i've caught 20 pound spotted gar b4 nice fights

  • I have only caught little gar!! that looks like it would of fought!!

Nice fish...That is not a alligator gar it is a long nose gar!!

  • thats a nice catch all i ever caught were little cat fish you get a gar thats like catchin a alligator dinosaur fish all in one

  • You guys seemed so fascinated with this creature, as would I, you should have kept it. With all the destruction of wildlife these days I envy you for having a pond that could possibly hold prehistoric fish. ;)

  • Brian, thanks for the comment. It was better that I released it into the river swamp instead of back into the pond. A Gar that size was definitely taking quite a toll on minnows, fingerling bass, and bream in the pond. The pond itself is only a bit over a half acre in size and culling out a fish that large takes a lot of pressure off of the fish population. Its now starting the second season since this video & already Ive seen more activity in the pond than before.

  • hawk im trying to put my vedio in here catchincatfish Jimmie

  • well...you won't have any luck posting here on my page, unless you send it to me n' I'll post it. Better yet, why don't I come by Friday nite n' help you upload it on your page?

  • Im sure it was a killing machine in your pond.Alot of people will disagree but I never throw a gar back. They become possum or racoon dinner.

  • Thats what happened to this one...he would of had to grow legs to get back in my pond, and I'm sure the 'coons n 'possums chowed down.

Good news is the Bass is bouncing back...the bream...well, I've haven't caught as many as I used to.

  • Can i keep it..?? lol

  • theyre damn ugly arent they hehe

  • I'll bet he put up a fight

    as gar usually do!

  • it actually swam away it was on land for all that time..

  • gar can stay out of water for 2 hours!!:)

  • its a longnose gar. spotted gar have different coloration and a shorter nose

  • Thanks for the correction, as you can see, we just knew it was a Gar but not what particular type. We can only guess as to how it got in the pond and how long it was eating my bass & bream. I'm guessing it got in back in 1999 after Hurricane Floyd.

  • its a gar pike.

  • May be a SPOTTED GAR !!!

Too small for an Aligator Gar

  • Thanks for the correction.
