@CaptainLilyJane Johnny has stated in several interviews that he and Peter were close. In fact, he said that Peter was one of the few bright points of doing the show and kept him 'sane'. And Peter mentioned, when his father Dom DeLuise died, that he and Johnny still talk. In fact, he said Johnny called him and gave condolences.

So yeah, they were and continue to be friends.

something to get back into the magazines!?! He bought an island to get away from fame and Hollywood. He is not a greedy pig, but he does have money. He donates much of it to charity and spends a little of it to buy a place where he can vacation with his kids while keeping them out of the public eye. He is a very caring man. Plus he never said he dislikes his fans! In an interview he said that his fans are like his boss and without them he would be out of a job and he thanks them for that.
