If you are a indie filmmaker this camera is great. i have one and its amazing as you can tell in this video. you dont need HD cameras to make great films. In fact I think the quality of the DVX has a better feel then HD.

@zheffner666 I just opted for this camera instead of something hd. if I go HD then I need to upgrade everything I own, so I hope the 100b will be a better solution!

yes. Different cameras are better for different reasons. It's still a very nice camera regardless of it not being HD. I feel as though its a lot more customizable than some HD cameras out there and its a lot more affordable, at least for a 3CCD.

In my opinion, you still can't top the video quality and low light performance. There isn't a consumer based camera that comes close. Of course, if you can afford it, the HVX200 or the new JVC would be awesome, and both are full HD. Just make sure you have the computer power for editing in post.

Hi, did you use 24p for this footage? What criteria you used when you export this video for youtube? Because i used same camera and used 24p but when i exported it for youtube it didn't look like the 16.9 with letterbox.

depends on where your going to screen your footage. do you have the equipment to even edit HD?

DVX100B was a good camera, but what good is it if it's not capable of shooting HD? Even consumer cameras are HD now.

@papabear2 Im going to be buying this camera very soon and yes i would recommend it because its one of the best SD camcorders out there. Also if you were to get an HD camcorder you would have to upgrade all your equipment for editing and all that. Even with that said HD camcorders are priced high so this would be your best choice.

@papabear2 Heres the deal, Mini DV Cameras are awesome, BUT Tape based cameras are going to be extinct in a couple of years, more and more people are using P2 Card or Hard Drive based cameras, this one is awesome, I have one, but am considering selling just because of the Tape issue.
