Nej, nej.
The baking videos are taking over a bit at the moment, due to some lack of time, but there are two reviews more or less in the making. So there will be variety, even in the future! :)
What is Marzipan like? Apparently it's rather sweet. But with all the flavors on that cake I think I'd break my tongue. Still looks delicious though *drool*.
Its a bit hard to describe actually. I guess you could say that its europes answer to sugarpaste in a way. Its made up out of sugar and almonds, so It has a nutty hint to it, which works good with the almond brittle thats in the second layer of the cake! :)
I kinda really like it too. With kinda meaning a lot! You made it look so easy to do, and your baking skills have leveled up. I can't belive your have so few views on these bake alongs, they're totally sweet.
Now you can make a yoshi egg cake as well, just cut out a oval shape of the round cake and cover it with marzipan too. :D
Great presentation as always man, really easy to follow all the steps. It looks terrific too, although I probably wouldn't like it. I don't have that much a sweettooth, and with all that marzipan, not for me! But it looks amazing regardless!
It does look very special I must say ^^ - but it seems kind of hard using such a small knife for getting the custard and whied cream out on the layers of the cake. wouldn't it be easer with klike a "breadknife" (smörkniv)
Yeah, it would! Preferably,I would've used a spatula, but unfortunately it must've gotten lost somewhere during the move to the new apartment. I couldn't find it, so I used what I could find I guess! :)
Well, I COULD, but I dont think the people at work would want me back there in that case! ;) But now that you mention it, the skull mushrooms would open up for some great design possibilities!
Oh, stop, youre making me blush! :)
By the way, you never got back to me regarding that saturn game. Still need Sega Rally for the saturn?
No problem what so ever. Its always horrible to see bad stuff happen to good people, so if I can help, thats just great. Plus, Im not big on racing-games anyway! :)
Just want to make sure that its the same game. Its called "Sega Rally Championship", but.. that still has to be the right game, right? :)
Send me your adress in a pm and I'll send it sometime next week!
A very good way of cool custard is to fill the sink with cold water and put the pot in it. Make sure to not fill more water in it than you can put down the pot without getting water into it.
Not to mention that it screws with the other stuff in the fridge! I hope I didnt say to put it in the fridge in the video :S I meant to let it cool down by itself!
@TanukiKGA No not thecustard, but the chocolate cream thing you said to put into fridge to cool, I haven't made that before (don't even remember what it's called XD) so I don't know hoe hot it gets.
The ganache, or, I guess its more of a trouffle. We call in that in sweden, even though they are two separate things. Its hot to begin with, but it cools down fast, especially since youre supposed to whip it all smooth. Doing it right, it should be lukewarm when put it in :) The custard on the other hand cools down really slow, so you really shouldnt put that in!
@TanukiKGA yes, originally I was tipping off about cooling custard, and other hot things before putting them into the fridge. I originally just noticed you didn't say anything about it, but then you put the ganache in. If it's lukewarm I guess it's ok. But hot stuff is a big No-no!
Lol Nice! I'm gonna make one some time. I'm gonna back about two, and throw one at a friend then him and I will eat it. Looks great thanks man! Subscribed!
Just so everyone knows, the music link provided in the description is for an entire free album, and IT KICKS ASS! Since it wasn't in English I though it might want me to pay, but the links go straight to save. Thanks TanukiKGA
No problem what so ever! Since Vladivostok was so nice to let me use some of his tracks, the least thing I could do was put in a link to some more of his stuff. Really glad that you liked it! :)
its 1:45am , and i was half-way through this vid when i paused it and made my way downstairs to raid the fridge !! :)
you see, watching food video's late at night isnt a good idea for me, it just makes me hungry. lol. anyways, great job on the cake , im sure it tasted as good as it looked. thanks johnny :)
Its rather common here in the north of europe, but now that you mention it, I'm not 100% sure what it is either! ^^ Its a mixture of sugar and almonds, but Im not too sure what the exact process of it is! But I guess its sort of a relative to the sugarpaste, but with a more nutty flavour :)
Honestly, Im not much of a marzipan man either! Unfortunately, I havnt had any experience in sugar paste, and since I was a bit pressed for time ( I made this a couple of hours before work) I went with material that I knew :) But I'll totally look into sugarpaste for future videos! :)
Yeah, the green frosting was an idea for a while, but I've been using frosting a lot in these episodes, so I thought that I'd change things up a bit :)
Thanks for the comment, glad that you liked it :)

A 1-up mushroom that looks appetizing!? That's a first! Seriously though, folks:
Y) the original 1-ups from super mario bros on nes looked disgusting
Z) that cake doesn't look half bad. I'd love one for a wedding.

@TanukiKGA I think it might worg generally for cooling too; putting hot stuff in the refrigerator is bad for it ad draws a lot of power.
