  • actually, The chandelier crashes after All I Ask of You reprise.

they mention the fact that they have a new chadelier in Masquerade, before Don Juan.

  • I just realized there are two Christine's singing this song. Rebecca Caine and Sarah Brightman. O.o

  • Micheal Crawford and Rebecca Caine? Wow, I thought she only sang with Colm Wilkinson. I think though Colm has a better phantom voice. LOL. I can't listen to Colm playing Val Jean without thinking about the Phantom. :D

  • @FlyHighFlyBC It's the other way round for - I can't hear his Phantom without thinking of his Valjean :P

  • Saw Crawford and Brightman in the original performance on Broadway. It was magnificent then and it hasn't lost its brilliance.

  • @pacrimco You're sooooooo lucky! I wasn't even born when they were on! D":

  • how long is a phantom of the opera live play

  • @MsXxxKittiexxx Around 2 hours 20 minutes.

  • good

  • I think Hugh's voice is much more beautiful in the way he performs this song. It just sounds much richer. He's my favorite phantom by far.

  • You know, after listening to Michael Crawford's take and going back to Gerald Bulter's version of this song, I think I prefer newer version for only two reasons: In that version the Phantom seems to put a lot more emotions in his tone, and Christine's voice is pretty much perfect in this song (really, that's mainly why I love this movie's version.)

I'm not saying Bulter is better than Crawford, I just think Bulter's take on it was the more gratifying to listen to with Christine's angelic voice.

  • with the hood on, he kinda looks like the ghost of christmas yet to come XD

  • Come on Disney make a POTO animated movie in classic 2d, Micheal Crawford as Phantom Please!!!

  • @DaxoVision Oh god. Please. No. Anything but Disney. And no animation. Please. Please. D:

  • @DoctorValkyrie WHAT? a disney version of phantom of opera? NOOOOOOOOOOO Look i luv disney but PLEASE DEAR GOD not a disney movie

  • Actually, you know what? I really think Christine's part is from this other video where a girl uploaded herself singing both Phantom & Christine's part. Sounds [particularly familiar at "how long should we two wait, before we're one"].

Also: 3:45 picture is kinda wtf? The face. And no, it's not the phantom's either.

  • whoooa, i didn't hear a click but yeah that is definately not sarah brightman. sarah's voice has so much more range, dips lower, little lower & more vibrato for "me" in "you have brought me", for instance. this voice is smoother and not as drawn out; she ends her lines quicker. I'd kind of think it was a non-[PotO] professional...

  • The guy that played the phantom in the movie was Gerard Butler. he did a good job, but he's obviously no where close to a Michael Crawford. I would go so far as to say Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford are the best duet of all time.

  • SO much better than the film.. I really am not a fan of the fellow that played the phantom in the new one.

  • sorry but that really was not Sarah Brightman. .4 min from when you hear a click. I have all her CD s. The phantom or .. She was not!

  • I do love michael crawford :) he has a fab voice but i still love Anthony warlow too he rocks the phantom

  • Crawford is just so amazing. He has that longing in his voice. He's not trying so hard to be seductive, 'cause the lyrics and melody already does it. I wish Gerry would have done that, since that's the only thing I can watch over and over.

  • @EvanescentWoodNymph same...my favorite sung line in the entire musical is "the games we've played till now are at an end". In english, with different phantoms (NOT Butler), even/[especially?] the japanese versions.

  • michael crawford has the best phantom make up

  • The chandelier does not crash here, why would it crash at this point, anyway? The Phantom isn't mad to do so. He was proposing to Christine, he even put the ring in her finger right before she unmasked him. Now "All I Ask of You Reprise/Chandelier Crash" really does fit for a crashing chandelier, and I've never head such evil laugh nor "youuuuuuuuuu" like Michael did. He crashed chandeliers for five years. How many chandeliers did Butler crashed anyway? :P

  • you're so right!

  • @tyagofsantos ..........no the chandelier is really supposed to crash here. Look at musicaltheatreguru's explanation up above.

As for the actual plot, the chandelier crashes because Raoul is vying to capture the Phantom and the Phantom is trying to escape with Christine. He needed a distraction so he used the chandelier.

  • In the Vegas show the chandelier crashes after the point of no return

  • well vegas show = lame and WRONG Broadway rules!

  • actually if you read the book, the chandelier doesnt crash until right at the end, as in the film version. The chandelier crash was brought forward to the end of Act 1 when the show was created for the West End becuase it was felt that there needed to be a dramatic end to the first half.

  • @musicaltheatreguru tyagofsantos is correct, I have read the book and, like in the stage production and the Lon Chaney silent film, the chandelier crashes earlier in the story when Carlotta is singing Faust (or, in the stage production, after Il Muto)- hence the line in the book, the movie and the stage production "Behold, she is singing to bring down the chandelier".

  • Why are so many pics photoshopped? 0:05 (Rebecca Caine), 0:20 (Hanne Damm), 3:58 (Dutch, I think), 4:27 (Elisabeth Berg), 4:36 (Sandra Joseph), 5:22 (Sarah Brightman) 5:37 (Sarah Brightman) all seems to have gotten the same face. Rather pointless, especially since two of the photoshopped ladies are singing in this clip...

From what I can hear, the Phantom is Michael Crawford, while Christine is a combination of Rebecca Caine (Canadian cast album) and Sarah Brightman (London cast album)

  • The costumes look so amazing!!

  • The chandelier crashes at the end of All I Ask of You in the stage version but crashes after the Point Of No Return in the movie version.

  • except for las vegas

  • True. Thank you!

  • nice singing who is singing? and at 0:50 you have a picture of Sierra Boggess woot!

  • It's Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. You can tell it's MC because his voice is just. that. awesome. :D

  • It isn't Sara Brightman until 4:02. Idk who is singing from the beginning until there.

  • @NoGoodDeedWilliDo11 sorry but that really was not Sarah Brightman. .4 min from when you hear a click. I have all her CD s. The phantom or .. She was not!

  • @graciaanton Of course not, this is Rebecca Caine. This is the original Canadian cast from the Toronto show.

  • That sounds like Sarah Brightman at the end....

  • The chandelier crashes at the end of the first act... As anticlimactic as that may be.

  • Its not really anticlimactic....its the climax of act 1 but the final lair is thew real climax of the show.

  • But unfortunately, most people simply can't grasp that... :(

  • yes yes...but poto is my life xD

  • It's not my WHOLE life, but it is a huge part of it!

  • xd it near consumes mine lawl lawl. i really want to be christine on west end

  • If I'm to be honest, I'd love to play Raoul in a touring cast.

But alas...voice lessons. Fortunately, they start Tuesday, and by Thursday, I shall rule the world!

  • oyus! heyyyyy maybe we could sign all i as of you together! :D i have a london sound, sort of like gina beck, calire moore, and jan hartley morris. you? :D

  • I love how Michael and Rebbecca sound together!!!

  • Cont'd...and let people like who they want. Plus you sound creepy with that "trust me" bit.

  • You don't know nothing "21gleneagles". If you thought Michael was good why couldn't you say something nice about his performance and why you liked it instead of shoving Warlow down are throats. If you like them both then why can't you comment on each guy separetly on there individual sites. Plus why is your opinion any better then anyone elses. Singing higher or lower has nothing to do with the quality of a performance. Michael has as much power as Warlow and sounds AMAZING. Respect both men...

  • he is a good phantom, but i KNOW that ANTHONY WARLOW is so much better. trust me. his voice is so deep and powerfull. michaels is more higher. trust me!!!!

  • Why are people giving this negative points? This post had no flames or insults or anything. He even said Michael was good. Chill, people!!! He DID say something nice about Michael.

  • Wow Michael Crawford must be the best Phantom ever. No sorry he is the best Phantom ever.

    He Sunds like an angle

  • @punkstoper MC IS the Phantom. He 'gave birth' to this role. Everything subsequent actors did in this role was created by Michael. The one thing NO ONE can duplicate is the heart and soul, the blood, sweat and LITERAL tears that Michael gave Erik. As MC has said many times, "As soon as Andrew played the first few bars of POTO, I could feel how I would play the part.....I love the character. I love the man." There's only one original!! Michael!! He also helped create the makeup and the costumes

  • @punkstoper He sunds like an angle? I don't know what "sund" means. Is he acute, obtuse or reflexive?

  • @Buggaton

Opps he sorry spelling mistake, it was meant to say "He sings like an angel".

  • @punkstoper nonono

He is good, but Hugh Panaro is the best. :)

  • @TheShivers2 He is a very good Phantom, but Hugh does not give me that shiver that Michael gives. It the why Micheal sings as a tenor but make it sound so fluent. But i guess it is a matter of taste

  • @punkstoper An angle? BAHAHA! I think you meant ANGEL! XD

  • Wow Michael Crawford must be the best phantom ever
