Box dyes are meant to cover up greys; not change your hair color. People with darker hair will NOT get the same results with a box dye. You will have to repeat the process and it will add stress to your hair that will cause it to break. breakage is bad.

Get your hair done at a cosmetology school for like, 30 bucks and go home and tone your yourself if it isn't light enough already with a purple toner you can pick up at any beauty supply store with a low developer.

A couple tips… If you want white/platinum hair, you really /should/ wash your hair every day because the oil which builds up will discolor your hair, which increases the brassiness. Personally, I use shimmer lights shampoo and conditioner twice or three times a week, John Frida’s lightening blonde shampoo, conditioner and lightening spray daily. Every two weeks I touch up the roots with bleach and a toner mixed in(Sally’s). On the opposite weekend, I use Virgin snow toner by Manic Panic.

also dont wash your hair everyday, you lose about 50 hairs everyday but u lose 250 every time u wash, only wash twice a week to clean your scalp so new hairs can grow through

@ZoeZoeZoeyOfficial Don't shampoo everyday, keep it very moisturized. Better yet, use WEN or the cheaper alternative Hair One, (Sallys). Try to do deep repair/or moisture treatments on your hair once or twice a week depending on your needs. You could do a repair treatment once that week then do a moisture treatment that same week. Put something light like jojoba oil on your ends or something if they feel dry. c: After you bleach your hair baby the shit out of it.

@ZoeZoeZoeyOfficial I used to bleach my hair and this worked for me, (II have naturally SUPER curly hair, I'm biracial black/white and my hair is "mixed hair", more on the dry side) I could go a week without washing before greasyness became an issue. So that helped me with that fact that I could limit my flat ironing to once a week. Try to limit heat use as much as possible if you wish to grow your hair out. The less heat I used the healthier my hair.

Okay, this comment will actually be very helpful. Dye is horrible for your hair. It may seem okay, but, it's truly not. You are safe if you go to Sally's and buy the color and developer. (ps, difference is that dye is different than color.) Dye is very harsh on your hair. Anything you would buy from a sally's to color your hair would be a safe way to go. I'm not trying to hate or anything btw, just trying to help.

heey i have a questionn, what color is your natural hair?? i see that you use the drugstore boxed dye by loreal & there's nothing wrong with that but i do have a recommendation for you so you CAN get your roots to a white color & not have to deal with the yellow or whatever color your roots are after using the box. if you have a sally's beauty supply store near u , go there & get a high lift blonde color. with 30 or 40 developer you could achieve white & not have to deal with differential color

With platinum, I'm not sure with the grey you currently have it at, but with white that's easy; Manic Panic Virgin Snow. It's not permanent, but if you leave it in for about 2-3 hours, it'll last like 3-4 weeks, then just simply re-apply when it's almost gone. (Side Note: Manic panic's like 8 bucks and you can buy it from Sally's)

It will be partly damaged, dying your hair any colour will damage it. But if you take precautions and use products suitable for your hair type & keep it moisterised it wont be AS damaged.

most salons wont do someones hair to this extent. and also most stylist use products that actually damage the hair more than what she is using. my sister spent 100s at a salon and alll they gave her was a ashy old lady blond. plus a lot of damage. like gummy hair damage. now i dye her hair with this same product and her hair is white AND is not damaged.

@dmanroks7 Professionals around where I live tell me that box dye depending on brand can actually be better for your hair then getting it done in a salon, hair types vary and so do brands so what may be damaging to you may be healthier for them, you have to take brand, hair type, and the procedure of how one applies the dye/bleach to their hair.

They do all say different things it just depends on what works for you really, even if your hair becomes very damaged there's always intensive repair conditioner for it. I've bleached mine out from black to blonde/orange with box dye and it didn't damage it badly, 3 minutes of aussi 3 minute miracle and I was good to go.

I'm not a big fan of pantene or however you spell it of over the counter hair care in general. I use some matrix bio stuff. It works so well. it's for dry/damaged hair. I have the conditioner, and a small round bottle of conditioner stuff. I also use "Ego Boost" from Bedhead as a leave in conditioner after I get out of the shower. "Ego Boost" is amazing! pss..most of the stuff I get is on sale at salons. JcPenney's salon always has good deals on the stuff I like. Super skinny hair serum is good

I know that most of you won't care at all, but coloring your hair with box dyes is the same as spray painting your hair. Box dyes contain metallic dyes, which are horrible for your hair!

Blonde box dye is SO much worse for your hair in the long run than going to the salon. Just sayin. I'm a natural blonde but my best friend is a hair stylist. and she nearly killed me when I wanted to highlight my hair with box stuff. But the purple shampoo, I use joico, really works for blondes and esp if you smoke. I don't even have to highlight it anymore.

It's purple because it's the opposite tone of yellow/orange. It gets the yellow/orange tones out of your hair leaving the white.

What also works good to tame heat is Pantene spray its in a black and red bottle. I use it everytime before I blow dry my hair and my hair is always baby soft. :D
