The viewing angles for Apple's screens are a shitty argument, because they are super glossy and very reflective to begin with... So it kinda makes it pointless to buy an S-IPS screen when the material of the screen is NOT BUILT FOR GOOD VIEWING ANGLES. Also the screens are made by LG, not apple.
My pc is a i7 920 D0 on a Asus Rampage III Extreme, with 6GB RAM @ 1866, with a GTX 460 and a 22" Full HD LED screen. Well... 1300 euros was the cost. Actually compare it to a rendering test with blender i got 6.5 secs VS 35 secs on a 4500 euro macpro. almost 5 times faster with almost 1/4 of the price. In my opinion... Macs are overates bullshits. Only design, but when it comes to making he job done, they suck. I encode a 1.5 hour video in 7 mins while the 4500 euro mac needs 21 minutes...
Well I'm into audio recording and studio work and I don't think I've ever encountered a PC in the professional studios I've worked in. Do you have any ideas towards why this is?
Could you post a link to the studio you have worked at? I see postings for Cool Edit Pro editors. Cool Edit Pro/Audition is PC only. I went to interviews where PCs were used for the audio and video editing. I am not sure why you have not seen PCs being used but I have.
@adobePC I hope you don't think I'm bias against PC's because I'm looking for a quality computer system for my home studio that doesn't go to far into the high-end Mac price range. The studios in my area are both using 8 core Mac Pros and many of my friends with home studios are using the more expensive Macbook Pro's.

Lol, applesolider included extra usbs. That is a fail since even a cheap $45 motherboard has like 6 ports on the back. More than what a shitty mac can imagine. Hell, my dad's 2009 15" macbook pro that costed $2000 has only 2 usb ports. Our old dell pentium-2 laptop from 1999 has that many ports!

No it's not... Did you know that companies like Pixal and Dreamwork stupids uses a Windows machine? But that's not the only machine they use. They have a huge server farm that is probably running a distro of GNU/Linux for all the rendering they have to do and I'm pretty sure Avatar was rendered on a Linux system.

On an interesting note. If you were to do video editing to a serious standard (read: professional) then the monitor alone would cost more than this PC you just put together. You need and want colour accuracy, something a cheap TN panel isn't going to provide, and before you play down the importance of colour, what do you think is shown in video? The whole thing is about colour/light. There's a reason pro design/editing studios use Cinema Displays and so on.
My video editing system does have an NTSC monitor as well as studio grade audio equipment. Check out my very first video. I never edit with out an NTSC monitor on hand. Thnaks for the warning but I am one step ahead of you.
Professionals rarely build their own system, the saving in initial price is minimal at best. They buy ready built systems like the Mac Pro because it comes with a full warenty, They don't have to worry about support, they just get Apple to look at it and fix it there and then or whatever they need to do. They don't care how it works, just that it does. You miss out a MAJOR factor when comparing the Mac and PC. Software. OSX runs faster than Windows on the same hardware especially in vid editing

"Good system" is subjective, but for your needs yes, maybe it is. It's just not very fair to compare it to a Mac Pro when you're removing a massive chunk of things that makes the Mac Pro what it is. I very much doubt the system you put together would beat the entry level Mac Pro at much other than the price. Remember that a lot of it is to do with software too. OSX runs more efficiently than Windows because it's coded better and doesn't have to run on as many hardware cl figs, so it's optimised.
AdobePC, you do realize that there is a big double standard among most of these Mac users, right? No matter what you say or do, you cannot show them any of their own errors.

Adobe PC just for arguments sake Intel does make socket 1366/1156 series of Xeon chips although they are a waste of money you can just as easily stick one of them if you really need the XEON!
Why did you get the GT220, it's weak, an cheap old 4650 is more powerful than that and it has crossfire. If you wanted "own" emeek than your gonna have to make a system that's cheaper and more powerful, otherwise he's gonna eat you out. your pc won't outperform a mac pro or a iMac with a 4850. The Mac Pro is a workstation you have to compare it with a workstation, Next time get a server mobo, and a xeon.
The configuration was flawed from the beginning. the Mac Pro uses server parts. Mobo, CPU, and Ram all have to be server based and those parts typically cost more than consumer stuff. I'm not bashing what you trying to do. I know you can make a workstation cheaper than the Mac's but, Instead of making it a $1000, you should had made it the same price as the mac pro, but with fully maxed out parts. That would've shut him up.

No it's not... Did you know that companies like Pixal and Dreamwork stupids uses a Windows machine? But that's not the only machine they use. They have a huge server farm that is probably running a distro of GNU/Linux for all the rendering they have to do and I'm pretty sure Avatar was rendered on a Linux system.
Almost all super computers in the world is run by Linux because the crappy Mac OS wouldn't even be able to handle that kind of hardware.

Sorry my bad i chose the 2x4gb option, quite right then The Imac is not a huge ripoff certainly not compared to some of apple's other products however some people would rather have a greater levelof upgradeability over the ease of use you would find with the iMac or any other all in one for that matter.

On an interesting note. If you were to do video editing to a serious standard (read: professional) then the monitor alone would cost more than this PC you just put together. You need and want colour accuracy, something a cheap TN panel isn't going to provide, and before you play down the importance of colour, what do you think is shown in video? The whole thing is about colour/light. There's a reason pro design/editing studios use Cinema Displays and so on.

My video editing system does have an NTSC monitor as well as studio grade audio equipment. Check out my very first video. I never edit with out an NTSC monitor on hand. Thnaks for the warning but I am one step ahead of you.

Professionals rarely build their own system, the saving in initial price is minimal at best. They buy ready built systems like the Mac Pro because it comes with a full warenty, They don't have to worry about support, they just get Apple to look at it and fix it there and then or whatever they need to do. They don't care how it works, just that it does. You miss out a MAJOR factor when comparing the Mac and PC. Software. OSX runs faster than Windows on the same hardware especially in vid editing

"Good system" is subjective, but for your needs yes, maybe it is. It's just not very fair to compare it to a Mac Pro when you're removing a massive chunk of things that makes the Mac Pro what it is. I very much doubt the system you put together would beat the entry level Mac Pro at much other than the price. Remember that a lot of it is to do with software too. OSX runs more efficiently than Windows because it's coded better and doesn't have to run on as many hardware cl figs, so it's optimised.

Why did you get the GT220, it's weak, an cheap old 4650 is more powerful than that and it has crossfire. If you wanted "own" emeek than your gonna have to make a system that's cheaper and more powerful, otherwise he's gonna eat you out. your pc won't outperform a mac pro or a iMac with a 4850. The Mac Pro is a workstation you have to compare it with a workstation, Next time get a server mobo, and a xeon.

The configuration was flawed from the beginning. the Mac Pro uses server parts. Mobo, CPU, and Ram all have to be server based and those parts typically cost more than consumer stuff. I'm not bashing what you trying to do. I know you can make a workstation cheaper than the Mac's but, Instead of making it a $1000, you should had made it the same price as the mac pro, but with fully maxed out parts. That would've shut him up.

What does the case matter, its purpose is to hold / contain / support the parts. I keep my case in my desk, and I dont move it for months on end. I for one do not waste alot of money into cases if its not going to be used in public places.

He didnt do a good job of it. I priced the same speced machine with a cheap case and came out at about $1400. If I was to use your case, it would bump the price to maybe $1460. Either way, whatever Emeek did, he didnt do it right.

Like he said in his video, he is comparing a Custom-built PC to an iMac 27" that have the EXACT SAME SPECS. Basically in this video you are saying that you don't need all that stuff. Maybe you don't, but that wasn't the point of his video.
The point of his video is to try to challenge someone to build a custom PC that match the exact specs of an iMac 27". He did that and it was an almost unnoticeable difference.
