I think that this song is about how we as a society live "comfortably numb" in that we don't care or pay much attention to the outside world, or the world that exists beyond our horizons, hence the "la la la's". No matter how loud the music gets, which sounds like blaring alarms toward the end, we live carefree. But at the very end of the song when the music is blaring, the "la la la's" stop and slowly we begin to see that when shit gets real we cant live comfortably numb anymore, anyone agree??

as it's called 'death in vegas' it could also be about the someone's life flashing before their eyes before death. The "la la la's" make it seem like their life is fleeting before them, out of their grasp. The prolonged 'laa' adds a tint of nostalgia towards their memories and at the end as it gets more quiet, they accept what is to come and with a final but hushed "la la la".
