zhenchemical you need to do some research on the dance styles you just mentioned. House isn't just a form of dance it's a culture. Bboying is part of the Hip Hop culture. Locking and Popping are funkstlyes which are an embrella of the Hip Hop culture. These styles have been here for 30+ years. So you see theres nothing new about what you kids think is Newstyle. Theres no such thing. Learn about it.
how is house a form of bboy style? although there may be a breakbeat part of a house track, typically it's in 4:4 time (a consistent or "straight" beat, rather than a "break" or funky, more syncopated beat). bboy stands for "break boy"--a dancer who "rocks" to the break in the song. the styles of movement are very different.... house tends to be more fluid, smooth and behind the beat, rather than more sharp, aggressive, power/floor-based and on top of the beat.
How can something that has its origins dating back as long as the late 60's and early 70's be called "new style"? And what the hell does new style mean? You younger folk crack me up inventing histories for things.
"new style" is a term that i believe the europeans, and in particular the french, used for the hip-hop style seen in New York. Rather than "New York Style" it was just "new style." However I also heard a french dancer say that they had this new sort of hip-hop style of dance (not house, not popping, not locking, not bboy/rocking/etc), so they just called it "new style."
Actually House dance as we now know it is alot older than the music itself. So no its not a form of bboy style. Bboy styles are from the Rocking styles and were down to Break Beats in which heads like DJ Kool Herc looped soul/funk records so the heads to rock to it thus creating the BBOY Break Boy. Althouse house dance and bboying share similar movments ie: Top rocking and house dances Shuffleing You have to keep in mind that both of these dance style came from the same era.
The dance was formed at places like The Loft, Paradise Garage, The Wherehouse. Most BBOYS would never go to these clups mainly because many were homophobic and these scenes were more liberal in relation to the emering hip hop scene. At these same clubs, you'd have a variety of dancers and cultures. So you see the history of house is deep.BBoys hit the ground, house dancers melts to the ground, A house dancer JACKS to the beat, A bboy rocks to the beat. We like the floor slippery, bboys dont.
I can read a comment on these clips and basically tell when someone has a clue and when they don't, you have a clue - we used to put powder on the floor of the garage. Your comments should be required reading for all those "househeads" who think all this started in Chicago. They don't understand that the music and the dancing that came out of the Garage,Loft, etc., is the precursor of today's house dance - but we never called it that. Educate some more Please educate them some more.
OMG! I cant believe Ive only just checked this out. This is wicked - thank you so much Danielgenalo. These guys & girls are dangerous. Take no notice of ignorant comments regarding b-boying. We dance with the b-boys but are no b-boys, it just works real nice. To be honest, these guys are technicaly better than 99% of bboys (and they have rhytmn!)
machine isn't in this... but not sure who you're talkin about--either "house," who is the first black guy... with the white headwrap. 2nd black guy is "sidney."
im not sure why people calling them selves bboy this or that for house music.. but whatever good to see peoples still freaking in the circle to house beatz!!
no one here is calling themselves "bboy" anything. the event is called bboy hodown, because it's focused around bboy competitions, with related styles included as well.
@danielgenalo Bet your getting tired of telling everyone house isn't a part of bboy lol well just educate them I guess lol I didn't know what house style really was I just knew it has a lot of foot work haha
gotta love house.

house , breaking, popping, locking, and hip hop are all a part of "new style." New style is integrated into bboying, so house is a part of bboying.
