this one was one of the first epic tunes I did learn to know and it opened up the door to a wonderful world for me. maybe it´s the ups and downs lying that close together in this song that do reflect my feelings deep inside. I won´t ever miss that tune and I thank peter hammill for this monumental masterwork he´s created!
This was Peter Hammill at his creative peak. Who else could write such a genuinely disturbing and truly imaginative song? It's absolutely wonderful - even listening to it 25 years later. I feel so lucky to have heard it.....
Semente200, as far as I can remember, yes. I recall this lyric, "Babylon's strange, 7th wonder of the earth, gardens ablaze with colour slowly rotting in the dirt". How cool was that?
What you said is very interesting because Hammill's "supposed solo albums" are not: they have a lot of VDGG tracks: GOG, LOUSE IS NOT A HOME, TAPEWORM, FERRET AND FEATHERBIRD, ROCK AND ROLE, FORSAKEN GARDENS, IN THE BLACK ROOM, RED SHIFT, LOST AND FOUND, TIME HEALS, OPEN YOUR EYES, the bulk of FOOL'S MATE which goes back to early VDGG... and other "solo" songs.
Particularly, I consider THE FUTURE NOW his real first solo album... I mean: the first one not to have a VDGG sound.
Just nice to see that someone other likes my photos from the very fine gig in Vienna :-) (minute 5 to the end)
illustrating really one of my favorite ph songs

I used to listen to this back in the 70's and it scared me ....
I love this song but it made me look at my own house in a completely different way.
I saw him once at the Troubadour in Los Angeles..
Everyone i took to see him hated me, because they all thought he was too depressing...LOL

it not about a house.. house the mind..
PH has said that once when he asked what's
this song all about.. he pointed to his head
and said "its about this" .. and it makes
a lot of sense this way

Yes i know it 's not litteraly about a house....
Thanks

The best song of the album "The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage". Played by the classical VdGG line-up. Just Wonderful. Good job, gnrbc.
