I have managed to collect the entire catalogue of these guys, Freur, its rather incredible, best stuff is unheard of by the rest of the world. Some of it is eons ahead of thier time. Anyone who has heard the rest of their stuff will agree.
Well, for a start, they kicked this weirdo behind the drums who later joined the "World's most pathetic drummer" competition... Second, the worked really hard on their clothing style -- which is to say something considering Karl Hyde's outfit in the "Born slippy" video...
But musically, "Doot Doot" is of course a great piece, in fact much better than "Born Slippy", which is IMHO far below Underworld's usual standards.
hahah yeah i never heard of them till underworld "beneath the radar" came out and i still have it on vinyl

Ich bestaune Haarpracht und Gewand von Karl Hyde. Der Mann hat sich im Alter fraglos zu seinem Vorteil entwickelt...

I always assumed this was one of those songs that wouldn't hold up well on a live performance, but I am happy to admit I was wrong.

daains I'm intrigued by your comment.
It seems to me that mst members of this band seem to be grimacing. Does this mean they are they 'riding the tiger' during this performance?
tomcatfoxy 2 years ago
The bloke below me..you can always, I mean always(almost), supress emotions.Thsi is not a great science. To ride "the tiger" is! (Great science:)
daains 2 years ago
These blokes went on to become Underworld and write 'Born Slippy', which just goes to show that we can all learn from our mistakes.
tomcatfoxy 2 years ago
Oh really? what did they learn from 'Born Slippy' then?

It is in itunes, there is the original mix, but I can't guarantee that it's Freur doing it -- sounds damn close

Great song.
But they're playing in playback in a very bad way.
It's a fake live.
ianisdeaad 3 years ago
what you consider bad playback is actually a great live performance!
eiffe 3 years ago 11
Are you sure?
At 1.45 who's singing "doot" instead of the singer?
For example.
They've always been playing in playback.
The recordering is always the same.
Look for the other "live" shows on the tube and see.
Anyway, I repeat, great song.
ianisdeaad 3 years ago
they are playing live. Only chorus and some drums are on tape
