That lemonade quote instantly made me think of Cave Johnson in Portal 2: " When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these?! "
Aiight so lately i just sit and dose off during music theory class. Imma senior and everything is sooo much more confusing than it has to be. However, ur video brought life to my class room. Our teacher has been out for a few weeks now. And the sub attempted to make the class music educational again. I found ur video and all 4 kids in the class loved it! U are sooo funny and easily relate music back to real life situations. Thanks fur making my day!! <3
a question for you: WHY DO YOU HAVE A FULL COURSE ONLINE? Seriously you are a GOD!!!!! this must have taken so much time... thank you for this. I've been taking your course every day for the past week and been taking notes in a note book all pretty and taking this really seriously. You are really helping me with something i look forward to making a living with in the future as a producer
@tomita90 Thank you so much for your kind words. :) To answer your question, I put this course together because I wanted to offer people who have a passion to understand music a chance to learn this stuff. Regardless of their financial situation. I know what I've done isn't perfect, but I truly hope it can help some people.
i had a pen specifically for taking notes on these videos, then i lent it to someone and now it is gone. It would have been really useful for this video.
I think I've actually seen cantabile on some of my vocal scores... :P
I suppose when a choir's singing a capella and most of the sections are imitating other instruments, it *kind of* makes sense to write 'cantabile'. Still, though...!
@VampirexGuitarist I think you're right, I remember my teachers saying 8va meant Ottava Alta (Higher Octave) and 8vb meant Ottava Bassa (Lower Octave). I'm sure I've seen 8va for one octave down, however. I think it depends on the composer and what he/she felt like writing at the time.
iam from Sudan - Africa and you know it is impossible to get piano teacher in sudan and i am search for free piano lessons on the internet and i found your amazing channel!!!!!!!!!!!!. now i can read some music sheet so thank very much man .
hey andrew, i want to ask you that if we have music relative question, then where can we ask you that, where you reply those questions, thanks for the videos, Piece :D
I thought the pedal symbol was a asterisk/flower looking type thing? If you dont know what I am referring I can send a message of a link to an image of it.
Most teachers will bore you to death by reciting what they have, but I have to say this, I can't help but laugh at your corny jokes (they are a little corny, but perfect to break the monotony of the course), and that helps me concentrate a little more. And your explanations are always straight to the point. Don't change any of that... That's why you're a great teacher.
OMG!! Andrew your personality is sooo hilarious. Watching your videos is not boring at all like a normal class would be. Thanks for your time and hard work with these I'm learning a lot. Thanks. ^_^
ahh you are soo brilliantly goofy, i love it! thanks helped soo much!! deff subbing :)

Hi Andrew,
you're absolutely right concerning the origin of sinister, sinistra (sinistre in french).
For destra, it comes from dexter in Latine, that means "right" or "good". The word "dexterity " comes from it.

Yes, that's another style of pedaling. You'll see that in other scores. Chopin, List, Brahms etc composers in this time period use that system a lot.
