  • I sure the best way to learn all terms is to use flash cards.

  • I copied all of these terms down and actually found that you forgot the N in Rallentando. No worries! You have helped me so much, thank you!

  • That lemonade quote instantly made me think of Cave Johnson in Portal 2: " When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these?! "

Nice videos by the way :)

  • for lypur: question: Would a fermata be correctly applied to the tune "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow"?

  • for lypur: question: Would a fermata be correctly applied for the tune "He's A Jolly Good Fellow"?

(dont worry will come back later)

-love your videos and you are helping alot :)

  • Aiight so lately i just sit and dose off during music theory class. Imma senior and everything is sooo much more confusing than it has to be. However, ur video brought life to my class room. Our teacher has been out for a few weeks now. And the sub attempted to make the class music educational again. I found ur video and all 4 kids in the class loved it! U are sooo funny and easily relate music back to real life situations. Thanks fur making my day!! <3

  • @NellyMay100 :) I'm glad I could bring life back to your class! Thanks for your comment!

  • 98% exam? wow your a genius..

  • a question for you: WHY DO YOU HAVE A FULL COURSE ONLINE? Seriously you are a GOD!!!!! this must have taken so much time... thank you for this. I've been taking your course every day for the past week and been taking notes in a note book all pretty and taking this really seriously. You are really helping me with something i look forward to making a living with in the future as a producer

  • @tomita90 Thank you so much for your kind words. :) To answer your question, I put this course together because I wanted to offer people who have a passion to understand music a chance to learn this stuff. Regardless of their financial situation. I know what I've done isn't perfect, but I truly hope it can help some people.

  • Awesome ;D

  • i had a pen specifically for taking notes on these videos, then i lent it to someone and now it is gone. It would have been really useful for this video.

  • If you ever get children one day, I am sure you will be an excellent father figure.

  • @lypur is your introduction to the video's chopin "heroic" A flat major? Just wondering. love your videos as well thank you. : )

  • I think I've actually seen cantabile on some of my vocal scores... :P

I suppose when a choir's singing a capella and most of the sections are imitating other instruments, it *kind of* makes sense to write 'cantabile'. Still, though...!

  • this is so much easier if you speak spanish haha

  • @jukuro9898 yeah I know. I'm glad I took spanish now.

  • @VampirexGuitarist I think you're right, I remember my teachers saying 8va meant Ottava Alta (Higher Octave) and 8vb meant Ottava Bassa (Lower Octave). I'm sure I've seen 8va for one octave down, however. I think it depends on the composer and what he/she felt like writing at the time.

  • All these terms are Italian

  • lol "possilbe" hehe

  • barely able to fit all terms on 1 sheet of paper (i write moderately large)...Btw your videos pwn

  • Hi Andrew,

you're absolutely right concerning the origin of sinister, sinistra (sinistre in french).

For destra, it comes from dexter in Latine, that means "right" or "good". The word "dexterity " comes from it.

  • Thanks for your viedo sharing~ After watching this viedo, I have learn many music words! :)

  • I thought the pedal symbol was a asterisk/flower looking type thing? If you dont know what I am referring I can send a message of a link to an image of it.

  • Yes, that's another style of pedaling. You'll see that in other scores. Chopin, List, Brahms etc composers in this time period use that system a lot.

  • LOL at 20:40

  • yea :) i thought it would be funny to leave my mistakes in :)

  • This is video is of veryyyyy useful!!!

    Thank you!

  • no problem! glad to help!

  • wow he's really good at this, and he actually makes it pretty easy to learn these terms.

  • I agree with InuGoku...

Most teachers will bore you to death by reciting what they have, but I have to say this, I can't help but laugh at your corny jokes (they are a little corny, but perfect to break the monotony of the course), and that helps me concentrate a little more. And your explanations are always straight to the point. Don't change any of that... That's why you're a great teacher.

  • OMG!! Andrew your personality is sooo hilarious. Watching your videos is not boring at all like a normal class would be. Thanks for your time and hard work with these I'm learning a lot. Thanks. ^_^

  • haha :) I'm glad you enjoy it!

  • Great video. Thanks a bunch.

    Awesome hair, by the way.
