  • excellent song !!!!

  • forever the best in indian song. from balochistan pak

  • I heard that, when Rafi tried to sing this song under maestro Naushad, blood was coming from his throat. I think that this song is the most complicated song of Rafi, and also a very challenging one, because it I don't see them perform this song in competitions.

  • Music has no religion, no citizenship, no nationality, no caste, no creed, no color. It is the purest form of divinity! Music touches the heart of every living being! Music has its effect on inanimate things also.

  • @nagnaman Yes indeed!! Music is "UNIVERSAL"

  • God is ONE

The Universe = Uni ="one" Verse = "song"

  • Fellows this movie was for entertainment purpose only please stop taking it seriously....I am a hindu and this song has NOTHING to do with hinduism..it's just a song, please stop fighting over unimportant things.

  • What a song!!!!!!

    Thanks!!!!

  • rafi sabh ne rag darbari ka pura haq ada kar dia a. akare alab ne to kamal e kar dia a. naushad sab ne kia kam e husn se compose dia a. aur shakeel sab ke shairi... sub mila ka ak zabar dast gana bana. are ammr o gaya. aj b ya gana sun kar de ta a. jawab ni. wha Rafi sabh.

  • This is Rafi's greatest song ever. In the album "Aathvaan Sur", Naushad offers commentary on this song and it is insightful.

Nuashad said that Rafi-saab (or saheb) could not sing for three days after recording this song. Its composition covers a wide range of the raaga and, of course, multiple octaves. People, remember, this was recorded on one track, in one take (albeit after much practice)!

Rafi rerecorded this song two notes higher! It's part of "Aathvaan Sur".

  • Undoubtedly Rafi's Greatest Song

  • THERE IS NOT A SINGLE HINDU-SIKH ON PAKISTANI-BANGLA TV OR MOVIES. No. one speaks of this apartheid.

  • @aceji: umm, you don't really have to have einstein's IQ to solve that puzzle... Those countries almost have negligible number of people that are HINDU - SIKH.

  • shut up extremist!!

  • this is what our india is all about...

    lyrics...shakil badayuni(muslim)

    singer...mohhamad rafi(muslim)

    music ...naushad (muslim)...

thats greatness of india..bharat mata ki jai..jai hind.......

  • LOL very good point Amigo!

  • thanks bhai,,and i am a indian hindu and it gives me a great pleaure to met a liberal pakistani muslim like you,,i think if we would have had any great poitician we would have never saparated and would have been teh grestest country in world,...any way take care,,,ram ram

  • I am a Pakistani Muslim and what you said was exactly what i believe may we one day come together and may love prevail over hatred..... its good to see some good still exists in this pitiless world.

Ya Allah!, Ya Nabi!, Ya Ali!

    Sacho tero naam Ram!

Call him Ram, Lord, Allah..... he is the same and Jesus, Muhammad, Buhda, Moses and Rama all taught the same message, it is us who fail them.

Yet they still love us.... and help us to come together.

  • so so sad to see muslims like you!!

    i pity u pal!!!

  • What? You need to revise grammar my friend...

Truly i find your comment reflects much about yourself... learn to read first, if you havent anything decent to say... dont say it, unless you can say it properly in the correct manner. Anyhow peace to you, there is no need for any pitty enjoy the song.

As for extremism your comments are actually the most extremist here. For goodness sake calm down and learn to respect, Peace to you. Friend.

  • @hrishipooja : I agree with you Our wonderfull and anciant cutural heritage has provan potential to bring about tahe best in all of us regardless of the religion. Jaihind........Waseem

  • I like your comment. I wish every indian is like you. Every hindu like you and every muslim like me. We dont need to always look at how many hindus in pakistan and so on. It is a failed state, Do we want to compare ourselves with a failed state? I dont think so. Let us write a different history for india without taking failed states into account.

  • keep ur dumbass comments abt Pakistan to urself punk

just shut up n listen to the song

    idiots talking crap!!!

  • @TheDiamondRafi ~ Dude calm down. This is not the way to any real peace... It starts with all of us

  • THIS IS GOD people... Sound ~ The Big Bang ~ "God Spoke and then there was..." ~ In EVERY RELIGION or SCIENCE SOUND PRECEDES manifestation. Cotton does not change because a different language calls in by another word ~ same with "God" or ENERGY. You guys are fighting about a persons false beliefs ~ Rafi would be sad indeed.

  • great song ever rafi zindabad

  • Great song and film, but whats with the echo ? Not Part of the original film ? Naushad Ali would not be happy ? Anyway, ty for posting /.

  • I love this part of the film, as a Muslim and a Pakistani that may seem strange, but this is truly an emotional and very powerful spiritual scene.

It' apeals to the soul of man, and that is a universall appeal. I dont care about the haters out there, one day humanity will be victorious and race, creed and culture barriers will open up and accept all. I deeply believe in my religion but i respect all faiths becuase humanity comes first.

May we all live in peace.Forget the past mistakes live!

  • Your statement "I love this part of the film, as a Muslim and a Pakistani that may seem strange" implies that Muslims and Pakistanis are unlikely to appreciate this part of the movie, a movie in which any part is a treasure to mankind? Islam is about 1400 yrs old. Mankind and God was around a whole lot longer before that. Muslims and Christians should remember that. The Europeans thought the earth was flat at one time, too...

  • As i said...... it is strange becuase like you say not all Muslims are as open minded. May God preserve us from narrow minded oafs. What i said is largely true but we should not blame one another we are all ignorant at one time or other we are humans afterall. May God bring us all together i am not for or against anybody just want to see everyone at peace. we all have our faults but like you say this movie is a treasure for us all. So please enjoy the film.

  • greatest song ever i heard they had to change the script to put it in this movie cause while Rafi was singing he started to bleed because it was such a heavy note, thats y its has that part where every1 starts saying he cant sing stop him. Supposedly that was the directors in the background. seriously touching song

  • Bohatt Khobb.

  • Mohd. Raffi the greatest singer INDIA produced ever. Shakeel Badauni,Naushad and Raffi ji brought to life Baiju Bawara . The reason why these songs appeal and sooth us is because they imbody classical Indian music which was created for devotional prayers to the GODS .

Check out the Man tarpat song by Raffi ; it is actually the Raag Malkauns in Rig Veda said to be created by Goddess Parvati as a devotional prayer to Lord Shiva.

  • Yes, Indian history indicate that the whole purpose of music was to worship the Creator. Follows the purpose for which man was made, to love God. That and only that.

  • awesome

  • the natural frequency which makes the earth move, work beat like a heart is being asked questions. thats who bhagwaan is may be? or is it the sun?

  • shutup bitch.

  • killer song but the bhagvan never really cries

  • Awesome! btw, which raag is this?

  • darbari

  • rafi sahib aap kyon nahi dobara janam lete ho.

  • rafi's best song

  • Wow this is the biggist hit by Rafi Sahib. This song has nothing todo with religion. Its beyond understanding of these bond head extrimest. when sun rises it gives light to the entire universe not a certian tribe or religion. If you dont believe this then you dont know what God, Allah (swt), baghwan etc mean. Love is God and God is Love, thats what Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) tought us. I dont believe that Rafie sahib was a secular, he was a proud muslim and yet very wise. he was indian not pakistani.

  • every time I hear Rafi's voice, the only thing that comes to my mind is that this could not be a human voice. It's to be something supernatural, something that don't exist in our earth of mud. Shakespeare was called the king of all England's kings likewise Rafi should be termed as the king of all the greatest singers the world has ever produced.

May God rest his soul in peace!!!!!!!!

  • There are many Legends associated with this song, one of them is that he sang it so passionatly that blood oozed out of his throat.

Another is that he told naushad that he could never sing this song again like the way he did in the movie.

It is belived that Rafi Sahib sang on scale that was beyond many great singers. He used to start on the scale that was 3.5 time higher than normal and sang it effortlessly.

  • I completely fail to understand why everybody takes the discussion to Hindu Muslim level? Is it that just because Rafi sahib was a Muslim and he could sing in Hindi, everybody is out to prove how secular and great he was. Even though I don't qulify to comment on Rafi Sahib, but still my own feelings are that he had such a pure heart and soul that he crossed the boundry of being human and became immortal through his songs. This nonsense of Hindu/muslim is an insult to him, keep him away from this

  • I heard rafi was pakistani

  • Shailesh: "I heard rafi was pakistani "

He was born in a village near Amritsar and was an INIDAN Citizen and probably if you dont know, we have more Muslims than in Pakistan itself.

  • oh!..rafi was punjabi!

    cool

  • Mohammad Rafi`s voice is simply voice of god,,,how many raagas he can sing in,,,he greatest singer of all time,,,,yes in movie beju bawra ,,,Baiju bawra proved he was greater than Tansen but not recognisation,,similarly Rafi sahab is greater than even baiju Bawra,,,,,or anyone for simplicity of his nature and godly voice,,,he is greatest without comparision as his voice is godly and what is godly is greater than all as god is greatest.....Rafi sahab the genious,,

  • bravo...rest in peace...rest in peace...

  • this song is commonly called "Sartaaj Geet" or King Song of indian film industry...million salutes to the legend Rafi Sahab...extra ordinary performance...

  • This song touches me every time I hear it. Only Rafi could have rendered it as he did... A muslim singing an essentially Hindu interpretation of faith, with this soul.. I wish modern India could understand

  • i have no words to tell anything on this song and Rafi sahb

  • I listened to the sonu nigam version first and then this version.. first I thought Sonu Nigam had done a great job, but only now do I realise how weak his rendition was compared to this. Rafi saab sang it with so much ease, he easily can adapt his voice to high and low pitch, and the flow is consistent, whereas with Sonu, he took too many gaps for breath and didnt seem comfortable with the change in pitch... Nobody comes close to Rafi saab, not even Kishore, who wasnt even trained in singing!

  • One cannot compare Kishore to Rafi ~ they both had much love for each other. BOTH were able to things the other was not able to do...

  • wht crap!!!

wht on earth was there tht kishore cud do(except maybe the yodling) tht Rafi sahab cudnt do abillion times better????

  • @TheDiamondRafi ~ I am a professional Classical Musician ~ the Sitar and have a music degree from Julliard ~ I have a profound understanding of music like my Gandha Bandhan Guru Ustad Sultan Khan. What Kishore Kumar could do was get to the "core feeling" of a song without all the technical "Raga-Dhari" and he created something MAGICAL and unique that we have not seen since. They are both different ~ but there are MANY things that Kishore Sahib could do that Rafi could not and Vice-Versa.

  • @anandvyasorg

it doesnt matter who u are , the fact is ppl all over the world love and idolise Rafi sahab and his voice, ask even any one anywhere who Rafi sahab is and they will know him and his voice, but ask urself this, who know you and ur degree??

at the end of the day he was rated the best by all the mds and his peers , so frankly it doesnt matter wht kk fans say or even wht his own fans say!

  • @anandvyasorg

again imo,wht u said is absaloute rubish ,

with all due respect, u may be a musician but u cudnt even come within a million miles of this legend, and i blieve its ur blind lov for kk tht makes u say such things

Rafi sahab proved he was the best and made his name just from voice only whereas kk had the backing of his brother and other hindu extremists in the industry who cudnt bear the fact tht the best in bollywood and even among the best voice in the world is tht of a muslim!

  • @TheDiamondRafi ~ Actually I am Akbar Incarnate. And Kishire Da and Rafi respected EACH OTHER

  • @TheDiamondRafi ~ Now Rafi is more Classically trained and Kishore is more "off the cuff" but EACH HAD DEEP RESPECT for each other and if we respect them we should respect them both as they were very good friends. Rafi Sahib had said on many occasions that his voice simply does not go with AMITHAB BACHAN like Kishore-Da's... You are being blinded by your love for Rafi and lack of musical knowledge other than Indian Classical

  • @anandvyasorg

the songs Rafi sahb sang for Amitabh were smash hits and overshadowed all the ones kk sang for him, for example the songs from naseeb, from suhaag, from desh premi, so i believe its ur love for kk tht is blinding u my freind!!

  • the world most sweet&expressive langauge URDU.URDU itself music, melody, love, romance, poetry, emotion, sentiments, culture, history, civilization, manners, respect, value, perfume.another name of URDU is also TAJMAHL. what a beautyful combination great NAUSHAAD+URDU+MOHMMAD RAFI+DILEEP KUMAR.

  • poisson are u mauritian?

  • am indian origine,

  • how is it u chose a freanch name"poisson de la mer'?

  • Genius - heard these songs with father when I was young and still love them all. I was so glad to grow up listening to these songs.

  • This song brings tears to my eyes each time I listen to it. What a divine power Rafi Saab had in his vocals. Such people are born once in 500 years.

  • Mohammad Rafi you was great, nagdaking i am agree withyou nobody singing like great singer Mohammad Rafi in Rag darbari thanks also deepuvel for upload this orignol song Mian Asif(Spain)

  • Wish today's bollywood could make music anything close to this

  • nobody can sing like rafi sahab not even sonu..he accept this.

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • Baiju Bawra was one of the best classical Hindustani film during golden years of Hindi films with good story, actors, singers, and film and music directors.

Sadly, We do not see such great films and hear such great songs anymore.

  • rafi jee sings like an angel...when i listen to his songs i can feel and understand the meaning with his voice...not many singers can do that!..sonu nigam is one of the few who in my opinion can

  • a song that had lived and will live for many years ---- truly beautiful

  • Lyric: Shakeel Badayuni

    Music: Naushad Ali

    Vocalist: Mohammad Rafi

    Film: Baju Banwara 1952

  • This is one of trh emost difficult song tsing. Only Rafi saab could have sang this....untouchable. Thisis the standard that he set and no one can match.

  • mohhammed rafi is too good he has sang it in very high pitched great singer no singer of today could do it like this sonu nigam maby come slightly close but certanly not as high as him ty

  • A touching and timeless melody that only a giant such as Mohammed Rafi could give substance to with the fine acting job by Bharat Bushan! This song will forever remind of us an era that taught us how good triumphs over evil through perseverance and devotion to principles.

Thank you for bringinging back preciouis memories of the voice of one of Hindi film music's most magnificent crooners whose versatility inspired a generation of playback singers!
