  • Psychopath

  • Comment removed

  • DiPSET !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonder how many that make comments were alive during this time? Some comments sound so child like and naive, this wasn't about God it was about 1 man being able to control others, like many can and still do today, it happened before Jim Jones and it happens now! This is where the saying came from "don't drink the kool-aid"

  • This video is popular on Fiji

  • Jim Jones can kiss my ass!!!!!!!

  • Guys, what a lot of u and/or others who hadnt seen this doc., read & studied up on it is that even tho there was just ovr 900 or so people who chose 2 follow 1 aftr the other of their fellow *brother/sister* members in inducing the poison mix of what infamously bcame known as 'Electric Kool-Aid', there was also many who saw what was 2 come in just days ahead & be4 fleeing, tried 2 convince as many as possible in c'in the real truth of what their 'camp' leader either was along and/or had became.

  • Who the fuck is retarded enough to believe in any sort of shit because it makes you feel good?? Use your brain and get with reality.

  • This video is a favorite on Vientiane

  • I had to cite this in social studies, i dont know the users name so i used his channels name. HOPE I GET AN A

  • @theinternettroll1000 You're not supposed to site the youtuber who uploaded it, because the youtuber who uploaded the video doesn't own this video. They didn't make it. They are only uploading it. Proper citation would be to google "Paradise Lost: Documentary Film" and try to find who the director is and the producers of the film. I'm a writing tutor so just giving you an f.y.i.

  • It was mass murder, NOT mass suicide!

  • @CrystalR73 totaly agree if you dont wanna die and some nut sticks you with a needle while another nut is behind you with a gun is that suicide?

  • Ummm did they forget they can swallow without swallowing? then take a deep breath and hold your breath until they go away if neccisary exhale through your nose slowly, and take short quiet breaths

  • @hydrogeddonn cyanide might be potent enough to kill you from just being absorbed through your tongue and mouth region. I wouldn't want to try that plan.

  • Come join my church....it is named after me...oh come live in my town JONESTOWN *insert eerie music*

  • Jim Jones "death tape" transcript during Kool aid cocktail distribution/drinking website:

To sign over your life to an Elvis Presley wannabee ????

  • It was NEVER a paradise.

  • It was never paradise...

  • ...and hippy lovin' white people.

  • I guess jim jones thought he was Elvis! and more. This sick demented cracker runnin' around killing uneducated negroes!

  • @charlene12341234 I wish there were more guys like him :( so many uneducated negroes alive today causing crime wherever they go. Mugging, killing, raping everything in sight. It's despicable. I hate being black.

  • @LuniaVideo -honey, beleive me, I do understand your frustration! It's deffinately your perogative to feel this way! I wonder where did they go when they all died? You think God forgave them, or what do you think happened to those despicable individuals. I sort of agree with you!

  • @LuniaVideo Since u hate being black then go hang yourself Nigger

  • @dimpsey3 That don't even make sense. I'm not black.

  • wait, whats this? i am looking for paradise lost: the child murders at robin hood hills?

  • @jayperuzi I was looking for that too. :) This is about Jonestown, the mass suicides of the 70's and Jim Jones. But, this is interesting as well. :)

  • What you have to remember is that this occurred in 1978...life/attitudes were vastly different then they are now. We learned from these tragedies. It has happened since, and will continue to happen..he was able to use peoples fears and beliefs to manipulate them. Classic..first appear as the one who will change your life, make them happy, give them everything..then slowly change...thats how brain washing works......

  • You might like my version too!

    Billy McBride

of Paradise Lost set to music!

    see my site

  • The actor playing Jim Jones looks like Bruce Campbell as Elvis in "Bubba Ho Tep." It's uncanny.

  • Jim Jones must have been a mentor for Warren Jeffs.

  • A Satanic CIA operation, run by the CIA man Jim Jones, this was a mind control test and satanic slaying.

  • JIM JONES YOU LISPING HOMO GTFO IM TRYING TO FIND THE ONE WITH THOSE DICKS IN ARKANSAS

  • This was not so much about socialism or religion - those were just a means for Jones to gain power which his megalomaniacal personality required. Had he not used those two to lure in the followers. he'd have used means. I don't think his intent was the murders/suicides . . . Those occured only when he knew the jig was up his days as leader were over. He couldn't even face death alone - and began to believe his own rantings. And the innocent (some of them) believed him to the very end.

  • no thank you I don't believe in the Kuran whom some religious fanacits believe in human body shields and killing others I am a christian because Christ Jesus says I come to give you life and to give it to you abundantly

  • @saliferguson4u

Omg, u know how sick i am of seeing arrogant shit like this, the guy from norway was a christian exteremist! same as those u mention! they are extremists! dont judge us all the same, i would never hurt a fly, and i love all people, i have athiest friends aswell, and please im relegious but even i know how u cling to jesus everytime something happens, Relegion is beautiful , but dont fucking use it every single time.

  • he dressed like elvis but he was defo no fucking king murdering twat.

  • America the greatest terrorist regime in the history of the world.

  • @LearnToReadTheKuran Yes, just completely forget about Al-Qaeda, Sinn Fein, and the PLO. Also, forget about Stalinist Russia, Nazi Germany, the Armenian Genocide, the Spanish Inquistion, Rwanda in 1994, Ran Min executing the Wu Hu in 325 B.C. and the recent Darfur conflict. Really? I call bullshit on that.

  • Comment removed

  • @LearnToReadTheKuran America is not the greatest terrorist threat in the world. Get a clue. It was 200,000 civilians or it was possibly millions more dead with an invasion of Japan on the ground. That's not counting American soldiers who would have died because the Japanese weren't going to give up. Concerning Iraq, that was a mistake, we should have never touched Iraq, but that was because we had a moron for a president. I voted Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004.

  • @LearnToReadTheKuran I call bullshit on your statement. It's a term that means...nonsense. We also built western Europe back from WWII, began the Berlin Airlift, built and then ceded control peacefully of the Panama Canal, and provide more aid and relief than any other nation on earth.

  • @LearnToReadTheKuran By the way, I was in Iraq in 2003 and most of those civilians that you speak of....were trying to kill us. That's not a civilian, that's a person taking arms against you. You kill them or they kill you. That simple. I didn't agree with going into Iraq and I believe we stepped into the shitstorm that is now Iraq. But those men who died in the Fallujah firefight didn't have a say. I saw things I'll never forget and I only want peace for mine and every nation. That's all.

  • Comment removed

  • @LearnToReadTheKuran No. Thank you. I'm not a man of religion. I'm merely a man.

  • Comment removed

  • @LearnToReadTheKuran I respect everyone's religion. They way one wishes to worship is of no concern. I'm not going to tell someone they are wrong because they do not believe the same as myself. As someone who has seen Islam firsthand, I respect Islam, but my place on this earth is not to be a holy man. Some may be, and that's fine, you have no problem here, but I worship the Most High my own way.

  • Comment removed

  • @Gigrantula58 It wasn't religion. He used it to move them to socialism.

  • @averitas In a way, yes. There was a large element of socialism in the Jonestown sect. Such as the abandonment of all property (to be turned over to Jones), all money turned over to Jones. "Those who remained drugged with the opiate of religion had to be brought to enlightenment — socialism." is an actual quote from the people's temple. However, you cannot tell me that this was a mad tyrant using religion as a guise. Religion had a large part to do with it in that case.

  • @averitas No he didn't. He used it to exploit them and play god. First it was religion, then socialism. Fact is, he was just crazy.

  • @MentosMan727 Fact is he was CIA, and there is more to this than was reported by the media.

  • @TheOringinalBRad I've heard that before, that it was some sort of social experiment and that there were actually several colonies throughout South America, which were basically slave labor camps, filled with "undesirables" (Minorities, felons, poor people), that the airstrip assassins were CIA trained "Manchurian Candidates" who were robotic and emotionless and that that particular colony's party came to a halt because of CM Ryan.

  • How many people thought this was Eden of the East? XD

  • Since his father was a Klansman, I'm thinking that he wanted them killed to bring the US black population down a bit. That's my conspiracy.

  • free the WM3 NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It was NOT a mass suicide. It's not suicide if you are forced to drink poison with a gun pointed at your children and yourself!

  • This is unbelievable, i still don't understand how this could happen.

  • Thulsa Doom!

  • jim jones was a poor black man whitey is evil welfare liberal!

  • @sjdss

    Get a job nigger.

  • @Ln192 i see your 3rd grade education! is paying off!

  • @steviedb7 haha dude fair point u made and all..butttttttttt...why did u basically type the same point 4 times an like change the last 2 lines?..kinda spam....but anyways ye this guy in this vid reminds me of a scientologist for sum weary reason...hmmm

  • @steviedb7 Actually some parents did inject their kids, the ones who didn't had their kids pried from their arms. The kids died first. There was no place to run, the pavillion was surrounded by guards with guns and crossbows. John Victor Stoen died 11/18/78, the same as everyone else but he was found and probably died in Jones' cottage. There were over 70+ with injection marks and only two people were shot.

  • What parent could believe in something that led them to poisoning their child!? RIP victims of Jim Jones

  • What parent could believe in something that led them to poisoning their child!? RIP

  • Jim Jones was not a real Marxist or Christian. He was a charismatic con man - an ego maniac who craved worship & power. He appeared as a Marxist to some, Christian to others, humanitarian to others etc. He supported both Democratic & Republican parties + whoever/whatever gained him more power. A master @ manipulation & mind control.

  • @steviedb7 perfectly said.

  • @steviedb7 jones was a perfect embodiment of a christian. "A master @ manipulation & mind control." thats exactly what christ was

  • hev was a mk ultra cia agent... in brazil he had safe house where known cia agents went to gibve him money instructions etc, but he fucked up with drug usage and got paranoid...

  • If they ever make a movie about Jonestown I can totally see Robert Downey Jr playing Jim Jones

  • The sick thing is, Jim Jones was buying several grams of Cyanide once a month WAY before anyone went to Guyana...which means, he planned this WAYYYY before anyone went there...sick man..SICK man.

  • @oluham your a real fucking idiot, you should have drank the kool aid. dickface

  • @oluham Prick

  • @oluham Why not say something of substance? The comment is beneath you.

  • Okay. Is it just me, or does it appear that at the peak of their respective lunacies, Jim Jones, Elvis Presley and Mark David Chapman looked similar? What, with the dark hair and glasses and all? :-/

  • is this what u call victims of insecurity with oneself and the world along with herd mentality?

  • is this footage of the "white night" authentic or is it a dramatization?

  • he fits every description that describes the anti christ.

  • the shear number always shock me over 900 people lives lost just looking for a better way to live and sadly fell into the hands of a very bad person. May they now have the paradise they never found here. But my heart really feels for the poor children because they weren't brain washed they just had no choice.bless them

  • Arguing about things going on now is not a way to act on this channel. We all understand that they were brainwashed, that things weren't right. Fighting amongst each other is what started it. I am all for the Iraq war, love my country and the people who stand to defend it. I'm a christian. I can see the mirror through the smoke. Innocent children died because of this. Can we please try to at least show respect for them?

  • the men should have charged him and his bodygaurds when they were vulnerable at least over 60 people would have been saved.

  • Some bigots want to bash Religious people because of this tragedy - why?

Millions died for the Atheistic Socialist Dream of the Soviet Union. Millions were sent to camps to be shot, tortured, and starved. All for a Secular Socialist Ideal.

Millions died for Mao's "Great Cultural Revolution" in his bid to build a Proletarian Socialist Utopia. Would it have been better to you all if Mao was a Baptist?

Human Nature is evil and depraved. It does not matter WHAT philosophy you have.

  • What a bunch of brainwashed fucks.

  • @NewWaveFan1 Way to respect the dead. Can speak that way about dead soldiers of the Iraq war? Don't worry I wouldn't want to, I have standards.

  • @xldjvista well soldiers defend our country from muslim shits. They dont drink the koolaid and follow a nutjob like these crazies did.

  • @NewWaveFan1 Isn't it crazy to die for weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist. The American people were all for it any criticism (i.e. France) was seen as treachery. Weren't the entire country following a nutjob? In addition, they reelected him. Weren't you the crazies? I could just as easily said Christian shits though I am one but I have the capacity of critical thinking and the ability to put myself in the other guys shoes and see my wrongs. I haven't drunk the koolaid you enjoy.

  • paradise? rolf more like a WWII style extermination camp, damn all of u ppl that fell in Jones'' ideaology shame on u all.

  • damn........ this is messed up.....

  • Another name comes to mind when I am reminded of this: His commune is in the mountains of Afghanistan. His victims? Frustrated Muslims that can get to heaven by blowing up Western Institutions and civilians. His name is.......Osama Bin Laden.

    peace/Salam

  • @greatbydesign33 Uh, no, this could NOT happen to me...I have been around cult like groups and religion (same thing basicly), so, sorry, I am such a big skeptic and nearly militant Atheist that shit like this could never happen to me and others like me. I woulda killed this fucker long before he got this far if I were in that comune...

  • I think they should have been more meticulous in casting an actor to play Jim Jones who was close to the same age as the person himself.

  • Did you guys know that "Jonestown" is now Guyana's capital city. Why would they freakin do that?

  • @subzeroxxxhotmail

    The capital is actually Georgestown.

  • @subzeroxxxhotmail

Are you sure Jonestown is the capital? For what I know it is Georgetown.

  • LOL, I like how right at the end of this part he is standing there calmly, drinking his water from behind his shades, then all of a sudden he's yelling angrily yelling at his followers. Can you say split personality?

  • hehehe is easier to wait until the Jonestown Project gets Declassified archives will be release someday so dont worry. dont believe in any video or in any version Jim Jones is C.I.A all the way!!

  • This was also a mass murder-the suicide angle is not entirely accurate.

  • @RPenta Let's just call is a mass euthanasia then. A mass assisted-suicide.

  • this guy just amazes me how he could do such terrible things to ppl and allow ppl who didn't want to die to die. and kill small children!! CHILDREN innocent ppl who don't know anything that's going on that day wow crazy

  • Good piece, the the info calls it the largest mass suicide in history. It was actually the SECOND largest, the largest being Masada in AD 72. 968 Radical Jews jumped off a cliff to avoid capture by the Roman army.

  • Really? WOw I never knew that.

  • @pistolwaver I think they call it, "the largest mass suicide in modern history."

  • 3:00-3:25 the dark glasses do nothing to mask the addict.

Jim Jones was too high to make any reasonable decision toward the end.

  • How come all those people followed him and believed him when his own son calls him a fraud? I´ll never undestand...

  • For your answer find the interview that Stephan Jones gave, in Guyana, directly after the tragedy, Shamrock.

In it he says that even though he had lost faith in his father he still had faith in the People's Temple's cause. I would imagine that many parishioners felt the same way.

  • you have to remember the context. There were LOTS of guys around leading small political movements. This guy was accepted by mainstream politicians because he could deliver votes and supply hundreds of enthusiastic poll workers. Compared to the Weathermen, Black Panthers and SLA, People's Temple seemed harmless. When reports of terrible abuses did surface Jones took off to Guyana and his politician supporters breath easier except Leo Ryan, who had too much integrity for that.

  • @1peterz ... Interesting though that Jones' two biggest politician supporters in San Francisco - George Moscone and Harvey Milk - were both shot and killed just two weeks after the Jonestown Massacre.

  • @karnubawax: karma, perhaps?

  • "I want you to be what I am"

*shudder* Those poor, poor people :(

  • Paradise Lost: Starring Mel Kiper Jr. as the Reverend Jim Jones...............

  • To bad nobody took him out early. You cannot convince me that everyone was stupid and unaware of what this guy was really about.

  • @kidballistic It's not about people being "stupid" or "unaware" - This is a lesson in MIND CONTROL. Take notes or it could happen to you.

  • @kidballistic: Jim Jones was a Marxist creep, pure and simple. Of course the fashionable "progressive" Left loved it and courted him. Especially in San Francisco. And that is why he was able to get away with what he did for as long as he did. His murder of Congressman Ryan, and his suicide afterwards, was because the game was up and he was going to be indicted.

  • @kidballistic Exactly.

  • @kidballistic The thing is though, if anyone ever wanted to go home, he would beat them badly...and there was guards all the time, nobody could really leave..

  • hope this ish don't happen with that bs sciencetology

  • @sahr94 Yeah, true true. Even the scilons, with their private navy, private slave-labour camps, forced abortions and physical assault of critics, even they haven't gone onto mass suicide.

  • @sahr94

    omg he had socialist ideas

this almost has nothing to do with sciencetology -.-

  • @NGOCPY lol yeah they are capitalist way better.

  • @sahr94 i think that's wishful thinking they worship money

  • Jim Jones was a psycho. Why do you guys find him so interesting?

He was no true minister of God. He was a leftist democrat who helped Harvey Milk in the SF elections.

He loved Marx more than Christ.

  • he was a minister of God at the begining of his ministry and was very powerful and well known and for someone with a title like that he's mind control on the people would've been nearly unescapable. His tatics of brainwashing and why he kiled other & himself etc is what i find interesting about him.

  • @StacyatLife he helped Moscone win the mayoral election, not Milk.

I find him interesting because I know people who lost family members in this tragedy. I will never understand how people fall into the trap of cults... but it does indeed happen.

  • @SoulLips I think because people voluntarily give up thinking for themselves, it is easier to let someone else make decisions for your life and it makes you feel special "a chosen" person. Even when you believe in something you have to have the courage to examine it completely and challenge what you follow. 900 people were responsible for their own deaths, I call it suicide by the adults and murder of the children.

  • Nightshapes3 THAT was a good movie. Powers Booth did a very good job trying to capture the madness and obsession of Jim Jones. It had a decent production budget and tried to capture the truth behind the tragedy.

You will have a hard time finding it on DVD though. I do not think they released it on DVD yet.

  • You are right Jim Jones still does have the power to influence the popular culture. I remember seeing a very good "docudrama" about him in the early 80's called "Jim Jone: The Jonestown Tragedy". It started Powers Booth as Jim Jones and was pretty good.

You are right about him being a communist. He started out as a Evangelical Methodist Minister but that was only a cloak for his leftest leanings. He practiced collectivization amongst his church people. There was no rich or poor in his church.

  • This is crazy. I only made an honest comment on this video and now 12 people are in on it.

    Crazy.

Jim Jones still has the power to influence people.

  • Jim Jones was NOT an evangelical preacher. He was a Communist.....The "Peoples" Temple? Hello!

If you listen to the Death Tape here on You Tube you will see that his followers keep wanting to call Russia for help.

These people started out as a religious group but ended up as a communist commune in the S American jungle.

  • Not a very conservative one... but he obviously considered himself one of a sort.

  • Come on. That's a false dichotomy. It's like saying you can't be an evangelical preacher because you work libertarian ideas into your dogma (as very many do). Yeah, it ran amok. That's the whole reason it ended the way it did. Yeah, he was a communist and his movement was the "Peoples" Temple. How, exactly, does "evangelical" or "preacher" preclude strong political and economic leanings? Jim Jones was a Christian evangelical minister. The fact that you don't like him doesn't mean that he wasn't.

  • If you bother to do some research you will see that Jim Jones eventually came to repudiate the Bible. "The Life and Death of the People's Temple" documentary shows how he actually threw the Bible across the room during a sermon and dared God to strike him hown. He was by the end of his career a total leftest communist demagogue.

You cannot be a orthodox Evangelical Preacher and have the far left "strong political and economic leanings" that Jim Jones had.

  • I didn't know about his repudiation of the Bible and such, but I'd say that THAT is why he, in the end, wasn't an evangelical preacher. You're still ending with the same false dichotomy. Please explain why it is that you can't be a far leftist and an evangelical.

  • LOL. Did someone learn a new word in class today (dichotomy) : )

Wow...you pretentious pseudo intellectual You Tube types make me laugh. It is not up to the other guy to prove YOUR argument pinhead...it is for YOU to do the research and post your hypothesis.

By the way...I think your great intellect should realize that it is self evident that the Communist Manifesto and the New Testament are entirely opposite world views and not at all compatible with each other - at least not for orthodoxy.

  • Now I just have to get into this argument.. May I?

You are obviously ignorant of the whole Jim Jones saga. You do not deserve any explanation because you yourself are clueless about the subject you are trying to debate. Have you watched any of the documentaries they told you about? You keep skirting around that issue. Well?

Also using big grownup words to try and sound intelligent does not make your position any more secure. Often it is a sign of a lock of self esteem.

    Do your homework

  • You are done. You ignored just about everyone's question about your ignorance of the subject matter here. You dodge, dodge, dodge the questions put to you while demanding one for yourself. Sorry...that is not the way it works. You deserve nothing while still remaining ignorant of what you want to "pontificate" about.

That said, it is not for you to dictate what people what to debate on here on You Tube.

Who cares if YOU are no longer talking about Jim Jones...other people are.

    Go away then.

  • I already answered the idiots question.

I think this person tsmelvin is just a spineless troll who is sitting in his/her Mom's basement and acting like a retard on You Tube. What a looser.

You are right he/she is done. We shall waste no more time with a clueless idiot.

I WANT to talk about Jim Jones. He is still relevant today.

  • nightshapes

I was going to respond to tsmelvin with something along the lines of what you said, but I think you put in in a more concise way than I would have.

When tsmelvin does his homework by watching the Jim Jones documentries that are offered on You Tube then maybe we can all debate on the theology of it all.

He did not even know of Jones Bible throwing incident??? Sad. tsmelvin is trying to debate with me from a position of ignorance. Do your homework tsmelvin - then we will talk.

  • Total Government CIA mind control experiment!

  • MK-Ultra?

  • that so nasty too how he hated homosexuals and said that he himself was not, yet he would have sex with men from the group ' supposly to join them more to the group. gross ha ha

  • the original documentary on this is way better. but it gets the same point across. this is fucking terrible. i just feel so bad. people out there killing themselves and wanting to die. when these people didn't have a choice. :(

  • You know whats funny about all of this? jim jones made his whole gathering one day in San Fransisco drink punch and then tested them by saying that it had poison and that in 45 minutes they all would die. He lied to them, but it was a loyalty test for them. So he practiced this sort of thing with his following before. He was also crazy since he was a kid, being obsessed with death and killing animals and giving them funerals. He just needed a reason to kill everyone off.

  • Although this is a hokey made for tv movie, I think it gave a pretty accurate description about what happened the last day. I also like the real life interview explanations in between the scenes. Overall, though, there is A LOT missing about what leads up to this day. Check out some of the other vids on youtube--like Witness to Jonestown, etc., if you find this interesting.

  • If you listen to the death tape, it's pretty obvious at one point that Jones had no intention of dying that day. He knew he was about to be exposed as a liar and killed off his people so he could say, "i told you not to come, now look what you've caused!" Senator Ryan had a bad habit of making waves with the CIA, and it was probably planned that he be dealt with in Jonestown. Jones had knowledge of the plot against Ryan however, and had to be silenced himself. Seems like a clear case to me.
