Well I think you made an excellent review portraying your own opinion. That's your view, not everyone else's. I don't understand what all the insults are about. I love Futurama and these feature-length movies, and, just because you didn't like them as much, that gives me, or anybody else no right to call you an idiot or insult you.
Also in Australia I picked up the set of four movies for $30 Au, which is about $35 US at present.
I paid near 100$ to get all four of the movies and I do watch them. Mind you, they lack a lot of the genius of the TV eps, but they're good enough to want to watch whenever I'm in the mood for, say, a Futurama marathon :D But the reason I paid money for them instead of downloading them or watching them online is because it's those DVD sales that brought the series back to tv where it belongs. So pardon me for wanting to help out the cause ;)
While I will give you that the plot is kinda mashed up, I did enjoy it. Granted I watched it on-line so there wasn't the thought of "I paid money for this?"
Umm, as a die hard fan, I'm kinda sick of fans judging these movies too harshly.. the tv eps were just sooo above and beyond other comedies, and everyone is crapping on the movies cause they were what...only 90% as excellent of what the shows were? In all honesty, I had to watch the 2nd and 3rd movies twice to really be convinced of the genious humour...but it's there. These movies are hilarious,& if you're dissapointed, thats ur fault for expecting the creators to hit that IMPOSSIBLE mark AGAIN
For me... I actually just thought the Bender once (Bender's big score & Bender's Game) were bad, but I liked the other two (In to the wild green yonder & The Beast with a billion backs)
As a Futurama fan I want to say that's sacrilege but sadly he's right... the STDVD movies are deserving of their status. I don't know if they lost some writers or if the lack of budget somehow affected the quality of the comedy, but Futurama really lost something after the show got cancelled. maybe they should to STDVD seasons, 22 minute episodes each. Or something.
Too late they realised that Futurama was more popular than the Simpsons.
Anyway the films (having not seen the most recent one i dont know how it is) so far they have been pretty awesome in my opinion. They have the same feel of the episodes and dont seem too drawn out at all (apart from maybe Bender's Game). I guess i am just a major fan owning all serie son dvd like hopefully alot of people do an i just dont wanna see it go after just 4 seasons. Its bad enough that Firefly had 1 series lol.
Well I think the first movie was pretty good because it was well written. It had a lot of switching between past and present (future) and incorporated some moments of earlier episodes. I watched it several times and always discovered something new.
never saw the movies, loved the series just wish I could see more on TV. but we all know how intelligent fox is about there hit series like Fire Fly for example. great series but fox just didn't give it a real chance.
I love the series. The movies, to me, are just a last ditch effort to try and keep the franchise afloat. They dont seem to hold any relavance to the series at all.
I think the movies have been great... yeah Bender's game doesn't hold a torch to some of the other episodes. Everything is supposed to be random including the extras and the stuff on the dvds. Are you a simpsons fan perhaps? Every fan of that has got something to whinge about when it comes to futurama .... The movies are great if you regard them for what they are.. movies and not episodes. Some are weaker than others, but couldn't that be said for some of the episodes of any series?
Ok bud, you wanna know why we buy these DVD's? Because we want the show to return and Fox are watching the sales of these DVD's very closely. Good sales = more Futurama, bad sales = no more Futurama. Simple as that. Plus, I'm a diehard fan, so any Futurama is better than no Futurama at all. Ok?
i got Futurama, Into the Wild Green Yonder on blue ray because i don't want the company to fold in this down economy. the DVD also makes a great background movie at a party, the more u drink the funnier the show gets.
If you pay attention during the SCOTUS hearing; there is a widescreen shot of the entire panel and if you look carefully at the far right you can see the head in the jar as "sagal".
Well I don't buy them, I rent them. I watch them because I was a big fan of the show but thats it. I know the DVD's are not that great but I feel like I need to watch them. I haven't seen this one but I am planning to see it. I did like the last ep. of the series and thought it was a great ending for the show.
I always loved the show, but the straight to dvd movies are great too. I love the call backs to the old show, "Bender's Big Score" must have had 100 callbacks. If you are a die hard FUTURAMA fan, than you will get more out of each dvd. I dont know what exactly you are looking to get out of the movies other than enjoyment and laughter. There is really nothing to get, just play-laugh-end-turn off. There are certainly more pointless and uninteresting shows or movies to down on, try some of those.
I guess I don't really know what you're asking in this video. Aside from the first movie (which was great) the past three have just been long episodes of Futurama. I can't really imagine how you could like Futurama and not like the movies or dislike the movies and not dislike Futurama. It's just an hour and a half episode. Some of the movies are even segmented into half hour parts. It's really not any different from the show at all, so I'm not sure why you would ask why people like it.
The movies were inconsistent, the 1st was very good in my view but the next two, particularly the second, just seemed aimless and dragged on particularly during the final 20 minutes.
This one however was fantastic and I'd rate it as the best thing they've done. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched Futurama before though as there are a lot of subtle references and jokes that only die hard fans would probably get. Plus you need to really know the characters to fully appreciate it.
I'd agree about the first three movies but I found this movie preachy and falling short with jokes. I dunno, I just hope they start making episodes as good as the first 4 series again.
I personally thought the first one was really good. the second one was a bit of a disapointment but there were a lot of one liners that i liked ( the its not tentacles its gentacles!, and the wedding was funny). the 3rd one I really liked because I am a huge fan of D&D and there are a lot of references to D&D in the tv show. besides where else are you going to get a tribute to Ernest Gary Gygax who was actually on the tv show and died last year.
I just enjoy the wit of futurama and i haven't actually seen this latest one yet but i think it shouldn't be analyzed to heavily its just a comedic cartoon
K well ppl buy em because that have different opinions and find them entertaining, plus with the succes of ppl purchasing the movies, there has been such good ratings that they are considering maybe bringing the show back
I didnt mind that Fry and Leela got together in the last 10 seconds. If you know the series in and out, you knew both really loved each other anyway, (I usually prefer couples that are intimatly platonic with each other, if that makes any sense). The ending was perfect, as it really gave fans familiar elements of the series
I was so happy that Fry and Leela finally got together, but it sucks that it happened at the end of the movie and since it was a long time coming, they could have made a bigger deal of it. I hope they make another one. I thought all 4 movies were really funny but "Bender's game" was my least fav.
I am a huge Futurama fan. I own all 4 futurama movies, my favourite is beast with a billion backs. Into the wild green yonder is my second favourite. I bought this one mainly because Seth MacFarlane sings the opening song and I love him lol. I love the fact that Fry and Leela kiss but the story isnt that good.
God all the movies were awful expect for "Benders Big Score." WTF happened to the writers of Futurama? No more movies! Lets' get back to 22 minute episodes. Make them funny again like, "Mars University " "War is the H-word" and "The Farnsworth parabox." I am very disappointed in Matt Groening and David S. Cohen. Shame on the both of you for taking my favorite T.V. show and making it into a pile of crap!
is because Fox realised they made a mistake cancelling it and they want to see how well they will sell. According to Bill West (Fry, Zoidberg etc) They have sold really well that Fox is thinking of doing a 6th Season.
This is something that alot of people want, cos let's face it, no-one likes the Shitsons...er I mean the Simpsons anymore. They've been on the air for so long that it's no longer funny and it's just plain annoying! The Fat, Stupid American Family franchise is DEAD!
Well, I enjoyed the first one. Mainly because I think of the reffrences from Stars Wars and videos games.. they always give me a chuckle! But I didn't really enjoy the second as much. I still havn't seen the 3rd or 4th. But looking at the trailers I would really want to.
They aren't producing new TV episodes. There are four direct to DVD movies that have been coming out for several years. This is the last one. No one knows exactly where the series is headed at the moment.
