it amazes me to see how some people don't know how to appreciate argerich, it's amazing when we listen to music, what some people can hear others simply cannot, as if they are color blind -- i don't think those people are picky or critical, i think they simply can't register the stuff that amazes others.
@indescribable23music It's from an album I picked up in a Notting Hill record shop some years ago. It's a combined recording, Argerich at the 1965 Chopin competition and Maurizio Pollini at the 1960 competition. The sound was taken straight off of the record onto a stereo to mp3 converter.
So, in amusement I timed the different pianists. These are just averages. Argerich for example slowed down quite a bit at the finish, purposely. These are averages for notes per second.
Actually, I prefer Pollini best anyway, but Argerich's playing at the fastest parts must have been very close to Cziffra (with better clarity). They are all wonderful pianists.
@robertslistening you need to include Arrau's version, which is perhaps faster, cleaner, and more even than most others, plus a perfect legato and beautiful sound !!! Arrau's version is my favorite, even though it was recorded in the 50's and with little pedal,...
Ho dubbi sulla veridicità di questo video: se la registrazione risale al '65 mi pare troppo nitida.

WOW this is amazing. I like how she plays it as if she is just focused on the left hand.

Pollini's the best, but keep in mind that this was live, not remastered time after time..

Lisitsa 10.45....Pollini 10.75...Chen 11.55...Argerich 12.11...Freddie Kempff 12.35...Cziffra 12.48 Watch those fingers fly. LOL
