  • Tom Hanks did a great job with this movie!

  • The movie was on tonight. It's so cool that the actors were really playing and singing.

Great voices and music. Six weeks of hard work. Awesome talent! I loved it!

  • "F sharp natural"

  • @oldfart387 I rented TTYD from Netflix. It had both the theatrical and the directors cut on the disc.

  • You got to watch the extended version of TTYD. I like it even better than the short version. Of course that's why they call it the director's cut. Thanks for the post.

  • @stevessn Steve, want to watch the extended, any idea where it's at?

  • @oldfart387 I bought it from Amazon.com or eBAy, it's widely available.

  • I love how even in the credits it says "T.B. Player"... Lol! I would love to be in a big Hollywood movie where my role was just "The Bass Player"

  • @thewonkhotline I loved it because as a bass player myself, I know that everyone notices the lead singer, the drummer, the guitar players, but the bass player is usually unoticed by the average fan, even if the bass player is killing it. So when I saw T.B. Player on the credits, I realized they never mentioned his name in the entire movie. He was just known as "The Bass Player." This movie was briliant.

  • @malikamakamuki Tom Hanks is a genius in every way, shape, and fashion... He really hit the nail on the head with this movie. But I grew up playing bass as well, and realized the inevitable truth of the situation, so I learned to play lead guitar and sing... Haha

  • @malikamakamuki That's only the case if you don't sing or have stage presence. Look at McCartney, Simmons, or Claypool for successful examples.

  • @translucentimp It goes without saying that there's exceptions to every rule. But even great bassists get unnoticed by AVERAGE fans. As great as John Entwistle was, most people can't tell you who played bass for the Who. Simmons is average at best, but he does have presence.

  • @malikamakamuki Yup. You know what I'm saying. And let's not forget about John Paul Jones' horribly underrated self. I cringe at the thought of it, and I'm a drummer.

  • I was a young teen in 1964 and experienced Beatle-mania and that whole "British Invasion" thing. Tom Hanks really nailed in this movie and this song. It must have been fantastic being in a hit band in the '60's, as a listener of the Byrds, Beatles or Motown it was a terrific music era!

  • THE BASS GUITARIST . AT LAST .

  • Tom Hanks has always struck me as being a genuine, decent, nice, guy. I think he does for a lot of people. I see that Hanks' old sitcom buddy from Bosom Buddies was in this too.

  • Ha!! Typical guys!! When Steve Zahn says that the drummer just broke his arm, he laughs, Tom Everett Scott laughs....so guy-like! Let's laugh at our pal breaking his arm! PERFECT!! Hanks nailed everything in this movie. There are a few guys in this movie I'd like to n...never mind.

  • thanks for this, the movie really ages well : )

  • John and Tom were so cute

  • F# natural??

    lol

  • It's a tribute to the effort and attention to detail they put into the accuracy and realism of this movie, including the incredibly period-accurate music, that so many people think The One-ders :-) really existed.

  • It may just be a movie....but they(the actors) are really a 'rock and roll band'......it is really them that played the song....with their guitars...drums....not a add on music...really them...so in a way..they're really already a band...

  • @isal3 I tried to tell people that.. but no one believed me

  • I'm pretty sure by not giving the bass player a name, Tom Hanks was poking fun at the fact that the bass player is usually the commonly unnoticed member in most bands. Just remember that everything in this movie is tongue-in-cheek and all in good fun.

  • @pickle61790 As a bass player myself, I totally agree with you and I think that is why my drummer had stuck a sign on my mic stand in one of our gigs that read, "Lonely bassist looking for rich girlfriend!"...I think he felt sorry for me not getting the recognition...then one day I asked myself, "I'm gonna be Jimi Hendrix on bass." Then I set my bass on fire...Yeah, I got recognition...I got reprimanded by the club owner! BTW-this is a music lover's movie and it's awesome!!!

  • TB Player... First off I'm a bass player, but it is true that most people can't remember the bass player's name in MOST bands, unless ofcourse the were also a vocalist. ( i.e. Sting, Paul McCartney, Gene Simmons, Geddy Lee ect.) you can probably name the vocalists and guitarists in these bands.but can you name the bassists? The Rolling Stones The Who Cream Jimi Hendrix Experience Fleetwood Mac Led Zeppelin Van Halen Judas Priest Motley Crue Metallica Guns n Roses Nirvana
  • @awesomefanger I get where you're coming from but I can name all the bass players in those bands, but that's just because I'm a huge music fan. I'm a drummer and us and the bass players are less recognized, but everyone knows we're the most important in the band haha. I don't care if people know what my name is, I just love playing the drums.

  • @GoDawgs1991 I can't agree with you guys more. I've played drums before and it's always the guys on the guitar or singing that get the most recognition. The exception to that are guys like Phil Collins or Don Henley who both play the drums and sing.

  • sorry i'm a noob. I love TTYD but forgot about it over the years. What is this "extended version" you are talking about? extended version of the movie? or these behind the scenes?

  • @rooeeez The extended version has about half an hour of additional scenes that were cut from the final theatrical version. They added quite a bit to the movie and are interesting to watch, but I can see why they were not necessary to the movie. The behind-the-scenes bits on this page came from a TV broadcast of the movie, I forget which channel it was on.

  • @videoholic90sA thank you :D i ordered a copy as soon as i figured that out.

  • @videoholic90sA Totally agree. The original is so seamless. Good call, TH on dumping the extra scenes.

  • @redsoxfan3418 yeahhh...it's just that it's not sold in stores anwhere. you have to buy it online. that's what i didn't like.

  • haha does anyone think its a little lame that the bass player has no name? at the end they call him TB Player. Poor guy.

  • @squeegybeckinhyme I thought I was the only one who noticed that

  • I know! I always thought thatw as stupid!

  • Where did you get this My VHS does'nt have this

  • The extended version is so much better. Not a scene I didn't like.

  • Yeah it is. I've only been able to catch it twice. And after seeing it, the shortened version doesn't do if for me.

  • Same here. Extended version is one of my top films of all time. Standard version doesn't even come close

  • @redsoxfan3418 While I really enjoyed the extended version, I would have rather not known that Mr. White was gay.

  • @PlaysWithSquirrels32 I thought that was a good bit. Loved the extended versions.

  • Comment removed

  • um......f sharp natural...? what?

  • @kevinbothwell i thought about that too. i think he means play an f chord. not bar chord. and move up a fret. f sharp. natural f hand position

  • nice upload! thanks! i just got the extended dvd

  • I got it too, a few months ago, and love it! Some of those extra scenes aren't that great, but I like being able to see them in the movie!
