  • @jxk2790 true, that's why I take, Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass, a serving of CGT-10(creatine, glutamine, taurine mix), and a serving of usplabs modern bcaa. All non-flavored except the serious mass(chocolate). Put it in the blender bing bam boom, everything in one, you get your protein, carbs, creatine, aminos(glutamine and bcaa). Try it, you'll be amazed, and ready to workout 2hours later, lol speeds up recovery time and you feel full and your muscles look full too.

  • ON (optimal nutrition) makes great products in my opinion. Those are the only supplements I use.

  • Mate. You eat healthy which is very good. Keep it up, but the Muscle Milk is bad. Read the ingredients dude, it's mostly chemicals. Get 100% gold standard Whey Protein.

  • You want complex carbs (oats) before a workout, not after. You want simple carbs (Gatorade, etc.)post-workout to quickly replace your glycogen. Whey protein is good for post-workout too because it digests more quickly than most other proteins!

  • personally... im doing about half cardio in my whole excersise routein now.. so i can eat pretty fattening things.. and im skinny.., but yes when lifting 4 to 5 times a week really heavy for more than an hour. i craved much leaner protein by itslef.

  • dude you are completely right, but supplements are what the name implies, a Supplement to real food. they are not meant to serve as a sole source of nutrition but as a way of augmenting ones diet. particulary for those that can afford the time to eat 6-7 small meals made of "REAL" foods

  • I am a trainer and I an assistant strength and conditioning coach and I'm also currently getting my masters in Exercise Science, and I could not agree with you more. One of the first things we tell our athletes is that supplements are a waste. Not only that, but just about every single person living in an industrialized nation already exceeds their daily protein requirement as it is, so more is not only a waste but it's adversely affecting health at that point. Also no supplement is FDA approved

  • ive tryed lots of protein brands.. and i mean lots... and the only that tastes like a freaking real shake is MuscleMilk... gotta love it!! ;)

  • MuscleMilk is mediocre in taste when it comes to protein shakes. Atlarge Nutrition Nitrean/Opticen, Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey, and BSN syntha-6 taste worlds better and have better ingredients. I usually take Atlarge Nitrean pre-workout since its protein(only if i don't eat a meal) only and BSN syntha-6 post workout for protein+carbs.

  • I'm a fan of EAS vanilla powder, it tastes fantastic and doesn't have a ton of fat like some of the other ones that actually taste good. Although there may be some ingredient I passed over without realizing it's bad but it's mostly protein from what I can tell. I got a 5lb bag for 33 bucks at a wholesale store.

  • Look for Monster milk made by the same people that make muscle milk only 9 grams of fat 3 grams saturated but it has 50 grams of protein per serving and only 4 grams of sugar.

  • The best protein ever! Yeah, I'm addicted to Monster Milk, the chocolate flavor is probably the best. The strawberry not so much. Haven't tried vanilla but the chocolate is even better than the regular Muscle Milk one. I just wish they did the chocolate mint flavor for Monster Milk...

  • The problem with protein shakes is that they have too little fat, and fat, especially if it's saturated fat, actually helps the body absorb the protein faster.

  • Fat does not make the body absorb protein faster, quite the opposite, it slows the digestion down. Which is why you never want to have fat in your post workout nutrition because it will blunt the absorption of carbs and proteins. Saturated fat is not to be avoided because it helps regulate testosterone levels, but NEVER after workout out.

A 50% protein content from what is supposedly an "ultra-premium" protein powder is an absolute joke.

  • You should also try Cytogainer. It is by the same company that makes Musclemilk, Cytosport, but it has more carbs, glutamine, BCAA's I believe and 3g creatine. I have gained much more on it then Musclemilk, even though musclemilk is still a good product.

The whole saturated fat and cholesterol health risk thing has been blown way out of proportion.
