Never stretch your arms/legs/whatever completely, it takes the stress of your muscles, which can cause injuries and which has a little less muscle gain as result.
i dont really get the way you did your reps, but as you were saying you arent used to training yet, i think it should be alright.

Pushups and pullups are the forgotten exercises -- I got into the habit of just going to the gym and using machines and weights only. But I weigh enough to give myself some real resistance. Good vid --
When your down you have to hold for 5 seconds, then push up. Its better workout.
