Great lesson but Jim keeps calling 9th when he means 8th. Have a look. Also if it was the 9th you would get c# and G# both which do not work against AM or C Chords.
Chet had dozens of those amazing short licks that he tossed into his tunes repeatedly over the years. They really spiced up his playing. Can you teach us more of them?
give him a break, it was an absolutely amazing lesson. and he said 9th fret instead of 8th just cause he was nervous in front of the camera. everyone is.
haha you just essentially said "takes one to know one"...yeah well done, maybe next time try not typing anything at all, see how that works out for you and all the people dragged to your unintelligent statements. :)
Thankyou Jim great lick but you do mean 8--5 you had me checking my guitar after 35 years of playing acoustic still well done. Would love you to show some chickin pickin tips
This would be really satisfying to learn and be able to play quickly. It'd be a good warm-up too me thinks...! Thanks Jim for the really clear video and instructions!
Actually this Particular Lick is the style of Chet Atkins (Tommy's Mentor)
Watch this Chet's video " Autumn leaves" played lived to see him use this lick.

Information on right hand fingering is so often neglected when teaching tricky things like this - excellent lesson, thanks.
