Most people would call blasphemy, but for the longest time I only knew of the Civ series from the Snes and ps1 versions.

i remembered playing this game and picking germany and naming the leader hitler lol. it was especially funny in the goddess scene

Aztec and America are the best starts in this game. There's a 50% chance that America or Aztec won't be there. I believe Aztec's alternate was Mongolia, and America's was China.

Also when you pick the earth map, there's a random chance that it will insert land bridges between alaska/russia, and korea/japan. If you get both of those bridges you can get a very early domination victory.

I guess it goes without saying I played the hell out of this cartridge.

i used to beat this game many times with the Aztecs and Japanese by mining gold and silver to speed up the science and go to space before the others went modern tech lol

Talk about console limitation . I cant even imagine controling more than 10 cityes whit that interface and controls.The graphics are more colourfull though - just like the console kidies like it.I will tick to PC civilization thank you ....

I remember this game. First Civ game I got. This game got me hooked on the Civilization series. Then from there I bought Civ2 for the computer. Then Civ 3. And a few years ago Civ 4. Shit got me hooked.

Wow, sending your first military unit out to explore and leaving your only city defensless is gutsy. BALLS!! Yeah, this was the only non-action game where i would yell out in victory over something like getting the clan to accept my rule. I sounded like Samuel Jackson when I used to play this game.

You can play this with the mouse. There's an option in the znes to use the mouse, its miles better

this is my favorite version out of all the civilizations, its just the most fun for me, and its not that complicated =D

I use ZSNES, and the savestate works fine.

the one i downloded is faulty, cause if you put an actual save file ino the game, then turn izsnes off, then on again, the save file is deleted.

You don't use the same file. You use the emulator's save state function, which works fine. I've never gotten the game's save to work either, but the emulator's save state works perfect.

Wow Civ. has come a long way since Civ 1. I remember pulling 14 hour stretches on this game back in the day. Oh and the reason he started with 2 settlers is because he's playing Chieftain mode. Time to bust out the SNES. Oh and a quick tip on those needing to make money on this game, Always sell your Palaces, it will give you 200g + respawn at the next city you build.

......dang. I sure didn't miss out on Civ1 for the SNES. Sure, the graphics are better, but otherwise, I don't think the game translated well from PC to console. All the constant reminders looked very annoying.

Yeah, those hint boxes are a bit much. I'm pretty sure that they are only there in the lowest difficulty level, a mistake in retrospect but we'll survive.

You can turn them off in the main menu as well as adjust your tax rate. Not only that, you can use your mouse for the game.

You can turn off the hints ya know. I probably logged in easily over 100 hours on this version.

Thank god for cartridges, because when Covilization II came to Playstation it sucked balls, because once you started progressing into the game, the load times between turns would become increasingly insane, 3-5 minutes! Needless to say, I said fuck it. I cant wait for Civ: Revolution on 360,Wii,andPS3..next month.
