Mike Burgener once said, "A squat clean is just a failed power clean." The same thing goes for the snatch; the only reason to do a squat snatch is if you are not strong enough to power snatch the weight. There are a few WOD's that do call specfically for Squat Cleans (ie: "Elizabeth"), but "Isabel" makes no such deliniations. It's one movement to overhead.
Awesome performance in the vid. I'd add that doing power snatches reduces your time significantly, and thus increases your power output in the workout. One could do squat snatch if they wanted, and it would take longer and hurt in a different way, but I think the power variation would be higher power output, thoughts?
thank you. we are doing diane mixed with isabel today. 21 deadlifts @ 2225 / 21 hspu / 10 snatches , 15 dl / 15 hspu / 10 snatches , 9 dl / 9 hspu / 10 snatches.... i did not feel like doing full squat snatches on this... you have given me my proof...
the athlete did not use his hip. He is not snatching he is shrugging and shoulder pressing

Isabel can be done either way. I have only done it full snatch. 5:13 and I had to dump the weight twice. Pist
