  • Judy is Judy! but it is nice to remember her! Judy's acute is unmatched! Judy Garland the best on the world!

  • This is great!

  • oh, dear can people just adore her and sing her songs? Even if they are not perfect. I sing her songs in the shower and well...yes, terrible. The guy is just having fun with his favorite icon?

  • its a lifestyle

  • i saw rufus at the hollywodd bowl and I was pleasantly suprised how goos he was.

  • His look that propelled him to stardom?? I suppose you never listened one of his songs to say such a thing! He is one of the best singers of today. Listen some of his songs, you will think differently.

  • My first reaction to 'a Rufus song' was, "this guy is actually singing." It is rare these days. An interesting thing in this clip is the bit of mimicry around 'see you no more, when I get to that swanee shore'. He mimics some of the decadence Judy was showing in her concert, a decadence which at first made me feel a little 'dirty' or voyueristic when I bought the album just after it was released. But, we take what we get and wasn't it fine?

  • How can you loose your voice when you had none to start off?

I went to both his concerts at the London Palladium (I do PR work) and they were not so bad.

Quite a tour de force, particularly considering the milestone in the history of showbusiness he is emulating and being compared to.

  • great, I saw Jim Bailey at the Palladium and Carnegie Hall doing his Judy concert.. incredible.

  • This is so bad and should of not been allowed to go on not only is the singing bad he also forgot words! hes on the palladium stage ! and should not lose voice! lose words! its awful! And judging from the reviews Im not the only one who thinks it ! The band is fab though! But Judy must be spinning in her grave!

  • Judy forgot words and lost her voice too!she was a HUMAN.

  • Maybe you should do a little reading up on Judy Garland. My guess is she would have loved the boy. Musicality, a great voice and lots and lots of drama on and off stage.

  • I've never even heard Judy Garland's music before, but I think I'm just going to have to buy this Judy cover CD when it comes out!

  • check out Rufus Wainwright @ Gramercy - Ode to Judy Garland when he was able to hit the high notes

  • jim bailey does this incredibly

  • I have got to see that show!!! He's amaaazing, even if he didn't hit that note, the way he kept the performance going, wouuuuh rufus is great great great.. beautiful!

  • wasn't the whole concert 33 songs? can you blame the guy for losing his voice? i mean that's a hell of a lot to sing so it's understandable! he does a great job and judy is one of his idols! all the rufus haters, please for pete's sake if you don't like it just move on. nobody needs the headache of reading your negative comments. especially the person who posted the video

  • Wow I really don't think he can sing that well....

but to each his or her own I guess...

  • here's judy's performance, both fantastic.

    youtube(.)com/watch?v=2wiVANvyi2k

  • i guess that last note was a little high for him THAT day, but he obviously goes alot higher than that on a lot of his albums. opinion: absolutely great.

  • Oh, and whoever made the comment that that messed up note sounded like farting, give me a break. He's obviously done it correctly on other performances othewise they would have made changes.

  • The fact that some of these posters know what drag shows are like in Montana is quite shocking, and i don't understand the comparison considering that this tribute was extremely successful and got a lot of positive attention from critics.

  • I thought you were muzzled by now!

  • Rufus has a unique talent and he is an excellent songwriter. This is just not his genre, imho. His voice is just not suited to this type of material. Plus it's really difficult to try to compete with an iconic legend and a double CD (Judy's) that has been around for 46 years.

  • My assumption was not based on the fact that you don't like Rufus; it was based on the fact that you posted the same childish tirade on several rufus clips.

  • Okay, we get that you are LITERALLY speechless and that you think it sounds like a fart. Thanks for your input, but the next time you feel like posting this same thing over and over again, you should just search for a clip that you're actually interested in rather than repeating yourself. If it's not to your taste, feel free to watch some reruns of Home Improvement or whatever it is that you do.

  • If You DON'T LIKE IT, than just SHUT THE FUCK UP you VILE worthless ASSHOLES!!! I think you owe Rufus and the video post a PUBLIC APPOLOGY you horrible FUCKING SCUM!!!!

  • Wow such originality, such talent ....I've seen better drag shows at 3:00am in Billings, Montana

  • yeah, except that fat ass drag queens in Nowhere, Montana can't sing

  • gosh, I always wondered if Rufus was gay .. looks like I finally got my answer

  • heehee!

  • I could do better with a karaoke machine. This is a waste, how Rufus ends this song is just horrendous. Wow i used to be such a fan of his, my interest and loyalty is fading fast.

  • well boohoo for you *eye roll*

  • Have you listened to Judy's Carnegie show? She does the same kind of smarmy stuff. It's a good, honest tribute to a legend.

  • so what! what's the big deal? whatever you are certainly isn't better!

  • Of course, this recording -- which shows just a segment of the show, with bad sound quality -- isn't a great representation, so it looks a little hammy. But I was there and it was heartfelt and powerful, both a beautiful and tribute and a hell of a lot of fun. Anybody else there love his anecdote about when he was little and would make a 'diabolical circle' of his mum's high heels and pretend to melt in them like the wicked witch?

  • this is the best ive heard rufus...i love this song

  • It hurts to see such hate thrown at a guy doing his best to the memory of the greatest female singer to ever live. It sort of explains why the world is full of war and death. Go back and listen to P. Diddy and then enlist. You will find your friends in the middle east. God save us!

  • i love this song.

  • You don't have to be an old queen (I'm not) to know that Rufus is no Judy and Paris is no Piaf. Get real.

  • Thank you for posting this homage (not an impersonation folks who don't get it). Rufus is amazing. Again thanks for posting!!

  • Shit, I'd much rather hear Rufus sing these song than Judy. The pill popping old hag had pretty much lost her voice when she did these songs. And although Rufus isn't really my favorite singer or anything, he sounds pretty damn good here. Crazy, bitchy old queens. What can ya do?

  • "Anonymouswhore"?! Consider the source. I suppose you think Britney can sing and Paris the next Piaf. Get real.

  • Your remarks are downright stupid. The World claims Judy is the Greatest...and what your ignorance typed here only shows that those like you should be monitored prior to printing. Grow up!!

  • anonymouswhore, how wrong you are. For this song, in particular, Judy Garland first recorded it in 1939, when she was 17. She died 30 years later. And even then, she was still wonderful; I happen to own her last concert and it is magnificent.

  • you negative commentators are so pathetic...

  • Ahhh yes, I was there this night. Loved it.

  • any negative Nancies commenting here need to bite their tongue and move along already. Rufus is merely doing a loving tribute to his idol, not some malicious attempt of imitating or ridiculing her. You're also being quite rude to the lovely person who posted this. How would you like it if you took a video of an artist you admire, posted it for others to admire too, only to have a bunch of immature name callers rudely destroy the good natured ambiance of video page? Grow up already, please!

  • Can someone please explain why he did this? Is it some kind of tribute or piss take?

  • It was a tribute. He did two shows this summer at Carnegie Hall and then took it to London and Paris.

  • Great! Great! Great!

  • It sounds like me singing in my car! Not good!

  • Well, I guess he doesn't sing. He's got some of the gestures down though.

  • I dunno, but i didnt think that was very good....

  • thats the moment where he lost his voice. i blame the palladium. peronally! (been to the paris show and he had a bad laryngitis then...)

  • Oh my God thank you, thankyou, thankyou- from a poor girl who will NEVER get to see this live.

  • SING IT BABY!!!

  • Boy what I would have given to have seen that in person. What an amazing, amazing man! A GENUINE performer and a GENUINE Judy admirer! I couldn't adore him more than I have for the past 8 years!

  • I can't believe this! I was there! I saw this. It was the best evening of my life. I will live on this memory for a very very long time. It was magical and more than I ever could have dreamt of! Thank you Rufus!! *coddles*
