  • You inspire me! I'm like you, tall, thin, and pretty flexible already and I've been wanting to get flexible so I started taking gymnastics. I saw this video of you doing this I was so relived. I thought that contortionist had to be born like that naturally. I was thinking of keeping a video diary like yours and doing this as well.   • @CarnivalFreakSh0w yah, you can say that all you won't but i'm pretty sure she isn't a bean pole like you think my friend looks skinnier then her and she eats a lot too but its cuz' there very athletic (i can tell icesk8 is cuz' she has a lot of muscles:) so maybe you should think before you think crappy of somebody:)

  • I'm in rhythmic gymnastics :) I hope to get flexible and be a contortionist so I can join cirque du soleil. I'm not really flexible yet but I'm getting pretty close to doing the splits and doing a scorpion. I just started in december :P

  • Haha I was thinking the same thing!! People put these videos up of amazing contortion and they see it and think, "Oh, hey, I wanna try that!" When in actuality it's probably a bad idea.  That's a good idea though, extensive research, smart thinking. I LOVE figure skating, ever since I can remember all up until when I was about 8 & got more serious about ballet, I wanted to be a figure skater so so bad. & I thought you'd understand about the jealousy thing, its others I was worried about haha.

  • @Alltheweirdfaces Haha well im glad you mentioned it, I actually just changed my description box warning people which I really should've done more than a year ago lol. And pfft I wish I had done ballet! But I had to stopped since my big toe nail fell off and it was too painful. I just said "fuck this" -.- HUGE regret. :( ...Oh and now im doing yoga which to me seems like a much safer form of contortion. I think EVERYONE should start of by doing that.

  • Yes, you are very flexible and its impressive. Not many people are naturally flexible like you. But quite frankly your technique sucks. It'd be a shame for you to hurt yourself and cause any damage to muscles, joints, etc. So I strongly advise you to work on that, but you're off to a fairly well start (: & anyone urged to say that I'm jealous and all that nonsense, don't. I assure you I'm not, I am a professional ballet dancer, I can guarantee you that my flexibility is far more advanced

  • @Alltheweirdfaces Hey there I appreciate the comment. I just wanted to mention that what I show in the video are not all the steps I took into learning the contortion. Everyday before the stretching, I would warm up (with any type of cardio) for half an hour before. I understand the mechanisms of stretching and preventing injury. I was actually a figure skater for 13 years and did ballet for 3 years along with other exercise programs.

  • @icesk8 (Sorry my reply got cut off) I also did extensive research on how to actually do the contortion instead of just "winging it". Contortion itself is not a safe activity by any means but I did take the precautions to avoid injuring myself. And yes I know you are not jealous lol, anyways thanks for the honesty, I need to better explain myself since im sure many people feel the same as you and i surely hope people are doing contortion with caution!

  • This was fun to watch... thanks for subscribing and getting my attention :) I am out of shape right now because I've been stress eating for a while and holy cow that makes a huge difference when I do yoga!! That extra bit of body mass makes it really hard to twist that much farther. I feel reinspired watching your video though... great job and I look forward to seeing your progression on this path :)

  • @army1strong1 - why are you hating?? shes just put on ehr vid that shes not great yet, i personally think this is really inspiring & positive & great that somone is doing something proactive rather than commenting on someones vid & telling them thier sis is better. i'm sure your sis is better. only cause shes not wasting time like you hating on other people.

    get a life & grow up.

    most people look for vids like this for help or tips, not to bad mouth people.

    You were very rude just then. I found this girl to be extremely inspiring, as a person wanting to become a contortionist, and far more interesting than any videos of freakishly amazing contortionists. sometimes people want to see "real" people doing amazing things. She didn't embarrass herself at all, she proved herself to be strong, flexible, beautiful and dedicated.

  • ok for reals honest opinion..is it to late to start learning? I am 23 now. I stand at 5ft 2 and 105lbs,,,going down to 100lbs for boxing.... I box (dont fight yet though) so my body is in rough shape...I am not flexible..I can touch my toes and such but I have skinny ass calves (which my coach is making me work on building muscle and strengthening them). And My knees crak now cause If boxing...I have started yoga to loosen up my body and help with leg strength...

  • @LunaNero lol well i had a "stretch class" once a week for like 5 years....skaters need to be flexible in order to prevent injury, skate gracefully and spin with certain poses (like beilmans)...preferably they should do ballet but I didn't like it at all...kind of like dancing, dancers would look awkward not being flexible

  • @LunaNero im a figure skater, and i can do everything she does in the vid nd i never took any stretching classes. All i did is stretch daily for a long time and it didnt matter wether it was day or night I stretched as much as i cud,and now my nickname is pretzel and rubber band lol im not saying im better then her im just saying dat u dont need stretch classes u just need to put everything into it nd good luck with figure skating!!!!

  • @yesoquehe It maybe due to the fact that i lost weight from doing the stretching everyday (i spent nearly 3 hours daily!) and they are harder to do then they look! good exercise though

  • I'm also a beginning contortionist, and i would really like to look like the others do. I think you are well on your way to becoming a better contortionist already. I have been starting off slow, so i can get to the big stuff later, but i think you are doing well right where you are!

  • @bakarichard it was extremely hard to breathe at first but as long as you breathe nice and slow you will eventually get used to it...I recommend doing yoga to learn this :)

  • OMG im a Figure Sk8r 2!! only im not as flexible... but i am trying i finaly got my biellman and am working on my chopstick!!! i only have one of my splits though... how long didit take you to get the splits and get more flexable in the back?!?!

  • @101icesk8er ahh i hated bielmans! it hurt my shoulder like crazy (I was able to do it off ice but for some reason the speed of the spin really put a lot of tension on my shoulders :/).......but anyway the fastest way i was able to do splits was from my coach who very carefully assisted me and sort of pushed my legs every week until they went all the way down ( I HIGHLY do NOT recommend you pushing too hard/ fast...it takes a lot of practice and patience)

  • lol she do those things wrong, so finally shes back gonna be achy and she need to go physiotherapist to get shes back condition.. i'm gymnast and i have done like her and first i get more stretchable but now i can't do those things anymore.....

  • @ssrdii actually i stopped doing it for over a year and now doing it again along with yoga and im perfectly fine ....I know the rules and my own limitations thanks ;)

  • I don't comment a lot on youtube, but i just wanted to give you a heads up: A friend of mine went to a circus school to train to be a contortionist when she was in highschool, and about 5 years later she suffers serious migraines from all the stuff she used to do with her spine or something. I'm not saying it'll happen to you or that it happens to everyone, but a lot of contortionists train from a very very young age so their bones and muscles are more limber. Just be careful! Nice work so far.

  • @justodaverio you just wear what you comfortable in, you can train in whatever, but aot of performers wear leotards or 2 piece outifts

  • @LunaNero You should not try to go beyond your limit, you should stretch only the furthest that it feels comfortable. If you hold this, you should eventually be able push further, without feeling uncomfortable. Please do not hurt yourself!

  • In regards to you starting up again: Only your doctor can tell you for sure, but I can't see him/her being against it... Regular exercise, especially stretching, can help correct, and even restore, the use of body parts after surgery, accidents, etc. In fact, not practicing can be worse for you!

    I'd say take it slow- don't just jump back into it! It should never hurt!
