you could of done that with out cutting too many holes. you only need one card with a hole and the piece you cut out. you put the cut card over a duplicate and do a double lift. then put the piece with double sided tape over the card with the hole. it will stick to the duplicate and the just lift the card with the hole.

@finredbull Don't count out gimmicks. The job of a magician is to entertain the audience, and with some gimmicks you can do things that are not possible without. Most (dare I say all) of the great magicians have used gimmicks from time to time. That being said, it is best to hone your card skills with an ungimmicked deck, only then should you bring in some gimmicks. Don't rely on them, but I say use 'em. Just my opinion though.

I'm definately not gonna perform this one myself, but it's a nice effect. 5 hours of work is a lot, even for an amazing trick. I don't feel like that's worth it. There are other hole in a card tricks that will not take that long to prepare.
