  • Glad you found her. Mines flew away today and I doubt that it will come back.

  • Comment removed

  • Your bird looks like a Chocobo from Final Fantasy! :) My cockatiel is black and white, a little boring, but he makes up for it in character.

  • @KidsWithGuns1992 LOL, Now you make me want to see Final Fantasy. :)

  • nice!!!! mines prefires to get a shower with a spray...

  • @57mara Ours do too. In fact, I've just given them a big shower today. It's very muggy and hot at the moment.

  • how did u get the bird a bath i have one and he needs a bath bad

  • 0:32 - looks like the bird's so proud to have just taken a bath :D LOL

  • 6 weeks! wow im glad she came back how did she fly away and how did she know how to come back!

  • @pencilluna10 - It was a VERY long time.

  • Amazing! If only we could know of her adventures outside of the house. You are incredibly lucky for her to return, she seems nice and pretty. How did she fly away? Was a window open?

  • @tigerpawable Hubby walked out the front door with her on the shoulder. He forgot she as there. :(

  • @monikamundell I know, Cockatiels are the greatest! They are so much fun, so adorable, I always found myself running around after them, making sure they had everything they needed...now who's the smartest one there? hehe They definately controlled me (not the other way around). Cockatiels do require a lot of attention, but you get so much in return, so I am the real winner here! I will get another cockatiel one day, but I feel that I need time alone after my girl's passing. Take Care :)

  • @monikamundell My little girl was really gentle in nature too. Certain places in the house remind me of her and make me sad sometimes. She use to love taking in all the steam as I showered and liked the feel of soft tissues against her feet :) I know that I will miss her everyday, but need to remember that she had a pretty spoilt life and was loved very much... Its great to hear that your little girl is a mummy now :) I bet she has beautiful babies! Thankyou for your video.

  • @MyZoe1998 Oh, how sweet. Cockatiels are such great companions. I couldn't imagine my life without them, even so they do take a lot of my time. But how could you not love these sweet-natured pets??! My babies LOVE to shower with either of us and they need to be refrained from stepping right underneath the stream, lol. It's always a splash fest when the weather heats up and they are looking to cool down. :)

  • I love your little cockatiel, she is so beautiful. I had an identical little girl that passed away about 3 weeks ago, and watching your video makes me smile because it reminds me so much of my little girl! I miss her so.

  • @MyZoe1998 I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know the pain you must feel. We also lost a couple of our birds in the past and it still hurts like hell to think about it. Thank you for your lovely words though. Yeah, our little princess is as beautiful and gentle as they come. She is now proud mummy of 4 little 'ones that have themselves grown into lovely and playful young adult birds.

  • those birds turn on you QUICK my bird used to love me now she hates my guts out

  • such sweet people to take care of her, if i was her i would come back too :)

  • @checkfoldcallraise Thank you. :)

  • So nice the love u show to her! (:

  • @stevenutah She deserves it - and then some!

  • ohh im so sorry

  • i love how she is just standing still and listening to u talk, lol i wish my birds did that.... i cant even hold them;.. the problem is i got them from a farmer and he neglected them and misreated them.... now i think they will never trust a human a gain. but i dont care, i will always love my 3 beautiful cockatiels. <3

  • The bird isn't doing anything??

  • wow. she flew away and found the way back?

    how cute :)

    how did she do it?

  • awwww soooo adorble i have two birds one named baby and another named snowflake and snowflake always goes in his birld water bowl and takes a bath lol.

  • omg no way she went for 6 weeks and came back. well my cockatiel flew away yesterday who i loved very much and he was very tame. i dont think he is in the area but i've been praying for him to come back and i have put posters around town.

  • my bird is so funny. when he's all wet after I give him a bath, he "fluffs up" his feather, shakes like a dog would, and now the whole bathroom mirror is wet!!!!!

  • Look At The Way The Woman Is Acting, No Wonder Why The Bird Flew Away

  • so happy she came back. she must love you guys.

  • @doktorfuture Thanks doktorfuture, she is still with us and meanwhile gave birth to 4 healthy babies who are part of the family now. She is indeed a wonderful, gentle and amazing bird! :)

  • This woman speeks like a psychopath I think she is under marihuanna

  • AMAZING!!!!!! I'm very happy she came back,,,,,,and that she survived her ordeal!!!!

  • what is she talking about O_O

  • i used to a a perfect bird( a parakeet) her name was sweetie and she loved me almost as much as i loved her but she flew away, and i never saw her again =( your lucky

  • that's a girl???looks like a boy~

  • I agree o_O!

  • WOW it flew away for 6 weeks? how did u get it back please reply, mine flew away 2 days ago :(

  • I hope yours finds the way back. Good luck

  • mhmm

yeh me too but i thnk hes gone forever :(

in the mean time ive bought a new cockatiel who talks and has alot of charisma :)

  • WOW that's a train cockatiel! My cockatiel keeps biting me he's only 13 months old! i got him about 2 months ago, do you know how to keep Cheeko (my cockatiel) from biting me, HOW DID YOU DO IT! LOL

  • dude you have to reinforce good things, so when he bites put him away from about 2 minutes and don't let him make u listen.Don't let him out if he screams and when he doesn't bite u reward him with treats and praise

  • @mywildanimal1 probaly doesnt like you?, thats one reason it might be biting you

  • if its goingn to bit you dont move the finger or the hand or it is going to bit more...

  • why don't you try using gloves for some min. while you touch it -SO soft 'coz it can damaged if you touch it hard-- the gloves are just for you don't got bitten so hard ^^U

Mine stop after some weeks. and now she lets me touch her and even come for it.

You can try as well with treats.

  • wow beautiful colours a very beautiful bird

  • you guys south african

  • how do u make them stand on your finger or hand like a cokatiel from 3 to 4 months old

  • You can't make them. They need time to trust and regain your trust when you poke or mishandle them. They have to think of your hand as a perch. go slowly and reward good behavior with a healthy treat!

  • shall the water be warm og cold to bath a cockatiel?

  • Not too warm but warm

  • {o,o} this was a hoot!

  • mines flown away twice and all we had to do was make a ig bowl of mac n cheese. cuz hell he goes ape sit for that

  • aaaaaa thats so sweet, i think I fell in love with the bird :)

  • how could she come back after 6 weeks?! she knew her way back? thats amazing!

  • I think your she is a he because of the dark cheek coloration. Females generally have a much lighter coloring, and they will have yellow bars on their tail feathers if they are lutino.

  • i love my bird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I take my cockatiel in the sink too. That's how i wash him.yet i always play with him.Since he's tame.

  • When a bird is all puffy it's dead.Did you ever put a towel on it's cage? What temperture was it at your house? If your house is usually cold or you put on the ac very often put a towel onit's cage so it can build up heat in it's cage.

  • You just got owned by Bacterium.

  • ...?

  • Twas referring to the fact that your bird was owned by a cold.

  • oooh ohkee...lol

  • the birdie loves your voice

  • @ joeglimmix: Thank you. I sure hope she does. She's been with us for a long while now and is still our little princess. As you can imagine we spoil her rotten - she deserves it.

  • @iMo

Hey I have a few questions for you.REALLY urgent!

1.I want my dad to take our tiel to an avian vet-what can I use to keep him warm?

2.I want my dad to let him fly around-(please don't criticise me)hes been in his cage since we got him!Do you know how I can convince him?2.2 If he doesnt go out(or fly when he goes out)when I open the cage, what do I do to get him to go out(or fly when he's out)?

What should I use to bathe him?Our sink is to dirty, and we havent bathed him in AGES.

  • @gabrielokafor 4. My house has ALOT of cables, what should we do to keep him safe.

    Thanks a BUNCH, Gabriel.

  • @gabrielokafor Here are some answers to your questions, hope they help.

    1. Keep your tiel in his cage if it is transportable and wrap a sarong, or sheet around it to stop draft making your bird sick. It will also help to keep him relaxed.

    2. Open the door of his cage after securing the windows, houseplants, doors, and other dangerous objects. The let your tiel come out on his own.

  • @gabrielokafor

You have to build trust first and it might take a while for him to realize that he can come out of his cage. Make sure you keep his food and water in the cage, otherwise you might not get him back in when you want.

    3. Don't give your bird access to cables, if you can use cable guides, or else keep the bird in a cable-free room when you let him fly around.

  • @monikamundell Thanks a bunch! can wait to see him spread his wings!

  • @gabrielokafor Good luck, seeing your bird fly free is something special!

  • @monikamundell NO! I fricking HATE my dad! He wants to SELL birdy!

  • @iMoMuCam your bird is sooo sweet <333

  • my bird once bathed in my dogs water dish lol

  • @ Chapina470: Hahaha... that is funny indeed. My birds always get up to antics and they just crack me up with their inquisitive nature.

  • My vet said to always luke warm water.....Give enough time for your bird to dry thourghly before going to sleep. My birds like a misting spray too!

  • @ ladybugjan: You are correct. Lukewarm water is best and also making sure the bird is dry like you said.

I often shower my cockatiels with a misting spray from a specially kept water bottle (like the ones you use on plants). Just make sure it is ONLY used for birds and NOT fro chemicals!!

  • yeah, i spray my bird, she loves it!

  • when i was washing up the other day, my cockatiel was sittin on my shoulder and walked down to the sink and jumped in! lucky the water had gone cold lol.

  • @ kissmec9h13n: LOL, that is too funny. You are lucky there wasn't too much water either because he could have been drowning too.

Did your bird end up with bubbles all over it? :)

  • no, she luckily landed on something, so she didnt go underwater. yeah she had some bubbles lol, i had to wash them off. :)

  • is it cold wather or is that bad for them ??

can some one please tell me

  • Probably not cold, but even if it were, it would not be bad unless it icy. They LOVE water, love baths. They will often put their wings out and do what looks like a spastic fit, but they in the wild they prob. get that from spreading their wings to get rain water. It's a great joy to them. It also creates a mess when they dry, because it losens all the dander.A-choo! They come fr. the desert in Austrailia, so I expect they are used to all temperatures, as some deserts become cold at night.

  • @ clancyophetveld @ AnitaLife27: Thanks Anita for answering this question. You are spot on with what you said. In summer, I usually use cold water from the tap but remember I live in Australia and the water here is at worst cool in summer.

In winter however it is important to give them lukewarm bathing water and make SURE they are NOT left in a draft situation afterward (or anytime for that matter) because it can kill your bird real fast.

  • thank you , i had a birdy but he pas away last frieday :'(

he didn't like to bathe alot thow

  • @ Clancyophetveld: I'm sorry to hear of your loss. This is rather sad.

Not every bird loves water and often it is a matter of time for them to grow loving it. I hope you are ok though. May your little friend RIP.

  • thanks , ill manage

  • Oh, yes, yes! I use warm water for my little monster. I also use a hairdryer, to make sure he's fully warmed up. 1st tiel faced into it. this one, not so much. the sound. I live in NE USA,--temps all over the map. (snowed last week--now it's 58 degrees out!)

Do you get to see flocks of these little guys? That would be so incredible.

I belive that tiels live inland in the desert. In our Arizona, it gets very cold at nite in the desert. Is it the same in Australia? He seems fine in 60F.

  • @ AnitaLife27: LOL, we also use a hairdryer in winter depending on the weather. Our cockatiels love it and often position themselves in front of it to enjoy the warm air.

However, too much and prolonged heat is probably not good either from these machines. Just keep that in mind.

60 degrees is fine because here in the desert at night it can get to zero degree Celsius easily in winter.

Personally I've never seen flocks in the wild and I traveled extensively in the outback.

  • how sweet she is, I can tell she is really comfortable with you. I can also understand why she came back she has a great home, She looks like my tiel Rita.

  • @ cassapollard: Thank you. She is my little princess and now a proud mommy of two cheeky baby cockatiels. The family is certainly growing. We have grown from having birdy initially to having 6 cockatiels and 1 budgie which we saved from the wild. A very happy - and noisy family indeed. :)

  • look at rustadude98 an then click on Spike my pet bird

  • I love how she looks right at the camera! How amazing that she came home! Adorable video. Thank you for posting it. :)

  • @ Kimmay11: She is a little show girl at times, loves the attention. But she deserves only the best and is spoils by us for sure.

  • Beautiful Cockatiel; I can't believe she flew away and was gone 6 weeks and came back and found your house (her home) again. Mine flew away (my mistake, not the Cockatiels) and I worried and searched for it and felt so guilty he was out in the wilderness looking for food and water for the 1st time. You are very lucky.

  • mine died but i still have the other one. your so lucky your bird came back. you have such a strong connection with your bird. well VERY CUTE A BEAUTIFUL BIRD! i love the exzoticness and beauty. is she healthy? she looks good. :)

  • You are so lucky, my girl flew away on 29 December 07. Best of luck to all of you

  • @ verticalsmurf: I'm sorry to hear this. It is always very sad to lose a beloved pet and I do feel for your pain.

  • Big feathery hugs to you iMoMuCam. My greatest joy is when a bird flies across a room to me. I've lost four beautiful feathered friends in the past. I was never around when they left, I put it down to people failing to follow my rules of making sure the bird is secure when a door is opened, but of course a bird will fly at any chance to be in open sky. Still I prefer to allow a bird the independance of being able to fly from room to room, instead of walking or being carried. I miss them all.

  • @ verticalsmurf: Thank you very much. I appreciate your lovely words and feel with you when you say how much you miss your feathered friends.

I've lost two of my own a couple of years ago and both died in my hands. To this day i still miss them so much and losing a bird like this is heart braking. I'm so concerned about the safety of my babies that I often neglect my own rest just to make sure they are safe.

  • When I was a kid, I had an avery of budgies. Most of the birds loved me but a few were 'wild', and didn't like being near humans. One night we had a really bad storm. In the morning I went out to check on my birds and one of the 'wild' girls was on the floor. She had a broken neck. I held her in my hands and cried for about 20 minutes before she passed. She just seemed to ease into my hands, relax and let go. I got the feeling she was saying 'it's ok'. Of all my birds, I remember her the most.

  • @ Verticalsmurf: Like you I love seeing my birds fly around the house in joy. They LOVE being free and roam the place and are happiest when on our shoulders or close by. :)

  • Also, I think your princess may be a prince.

  • lol u guys are odd

  • Keep it to yourself. Anyway, you don't adopt an animal because it's the best.

  • lol cockatiels r the best

  • it needed holidays :P

  • your bird flew away and came back.wow.

  • That's really rare! My stepmother used to have two cockatiels, and somehow one of them once flew away and came back.... To the wrong tower block! Then one of her neighbours told about finding a lost-looking and tame cockatiel and she got it back. Today she's taking a better care about everything when the tiels are out of the cage.

  • Wow, I didn't know you could give birds baths! I always thought it damaged the feathers somehow. Very cute birdie, though!

  • i used to have 2 cockatiels but one of them flew away about a year ago :( i wish it came back but it never did. really sad about that. at least i still have the other though

  • Cute.

  • cute

  • my birdy daisy flew away to. back came back 2 days later

  • ur lucky that ur bird will take

a bath4. my cockatiel will take 1 whenever he wants to!!

  • i have a cockatiel question.. i just bought a baby cockatiel a couple days ago, i had one growing up too, but i dont remember it being this shy.... i have had him since tuesday and its thursday and he seems so scared, he hasnt eaten any seed. how do i help him adjust?

  • how is the baby cockatiel doing?

  • I have a pet Cockatiel, but I can't get him to take a bath

  • @ JaMoond: They can't be forced and not every cockatiel loves his bath. Some take a few month before they get used to - and love water. A good way to get them used to it is by spraying them with a fine water mist from a water bottle.

It's like giving them a shower and most cockatiels love it (especially on a hot summers day).

  • Question....Stupid question...Does hurt the birds to have eggs like does it hurt them?

  • Hi Lilcool88,

No question is a stupid question. In fact the dumbest questions are those never asked.

As for your question (LOL), no if they are healthy birds it does not hurt at all. Cockatiels are mass producers of egg laying if let me. However, they should not lay more than twice per year, especially if you are not a breeder as it wears them out.

Plus too much egg laying will only result into the possibility of getting egg bound. That can be fatal within hours. deadly!!!!).

  • Went missing for 6weeks?

You were so lucky to get her back! :)

  • Hi Lauren,

Yes I know. It was a wonder. I'm still convinced she is a tough little girl. One day I will write a book about her, so much to tell.

  • one easier way is to take a bottle that sprays and fill it with room temp water and spray them with that they will open there wings ant let u spray the inside of there wings to dry ether air or blow write to me if u have any Questions

  • I know, she has showers too. her favorite is to sit in a warm bath ( a plate or a low rimed bowl and then getting sprayed with the water bottle.

  • Very nice! You can tell how much you love her and you were SO lucky she found her way back too you! I had one very similar to yours and I love her so so much! She has now passed two years age and I am still heartbroken. She used to whistle tunes and eat from our plates. She love string beans and broccoli! :)

  • My birdy loves vedgies. Anything from spuds, sweet potato, pumpkin, beans, snow peas, zucchini, mash and much more. Cockatiels also love bread, oats, etc.

  • OMG! how cute! my tiel is a lutino too :D i hope he likes baths as much as ur girl does :D

  • this is not a girl this is a boy, because of the red spots on his cheeks :P

  • I have 2 tiel's, and even females have the red dot.

  • That is not how you tell, it is by the markings on the tail feathers and/or if the girl lays an egg! I had a lutino also and SHE had the ORANGE cheeks!

  • Hi, that is correct. It is the markings that lets you tell whether they are male or female. Otherwise, the eggs are a certain give away for sure.

  • Hi,

She definitely is a girl. She has laid eggs over the years and now she has a new lover boy so maybe there will be little ones.

  • well done... i'm a cockatiel tamer and that's exdellent!!

  • So glad you got your precious baby back. She must love you very much to have found her way home. It's obvious how much you love her.

  • Thank you so much nancysparkplug,

I do love her so much indeed and I'm glad you picked up on this. I consider myself very fortunate to share such a strong bond with an amazing animal like birdy.

  • omg she flew away? that must have been miserable!! but god bless her, she came back!!!!! thats wut my jerry loos like!!! but hes a boy, LOL......i love it!!! jerry hates water tho, hes a brat, but is that why hes only 2?

  • It was indeed. I never lost hope though to see her again and she did come back. I guess we have an amazing connection, I always knew that she was still alive. Don't ask me why though.

Sounds like your Jerry is fun too. :-)

  • Could you please tell me how cold it was when your bird was lost? My baby flew away March 7! It got down to 25 the fourth night he was out. What was your emotional state while your bird was gone? People say you have to stay positive in order for the bird to come back but I cant help but cry.

  • @ hmariewv: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. When our baby flew away it was end of November whi9ch here in Oz is the beginning of summer. This means it would have been anywhere between 25-35 Celcius at night, depending on the weather.

  • Also, my state of mind was VERY said. At the same time I never lost hope to see her again and I somehow knew she was still alive.

I truly hope you will be reunited with your bird again!

  • @hmariewv did u ever find your bird?

  • @2r7jds

No I never did find my bird. I gave out 1000 fliers door to door and looked for a year. My son just lost his Quaker he raised from a baby two days ago in a freak accident. We let them fly from room to room and they become part of the family. The Quaker liked to drink out of our glasses. She had tried to drink out of a tall glass with a little water in the bottom and had slipped and fell headfirst into the glass and drown. I never ever thought something like this could happen.

  • s/he is so cute how much did she rough cost with tax food toys cage and all i realy kneed to know people keep teling me it depends were you get them but i am asking a couple of people so i can learn aproxamitly how much money to save thanx so much.

Ps. you are so blessed to have theese pretty creatures and s/he is cute evan if she is soaked! :) is s/he a girl or boy? bye!! :)

  • Hi Cockash,

Cockatiels cost around $90 in most pet shops. A cage will set you back some $50-$200 depending on how good it is and food runs cheap. They certainly love to eat fresh fruit and vegetables but whatever you do, NEVER feed them avocado, alcohol and fatty foods as well as sugary foods.

  • I love your lutino, her yellow tint is very beautiful.

  • she is the most beautiful cockatiel i ever seen!! she is so gorgeous!!

  • lovely lutino had one in the house for 3 years and she was very friendly liked to lay a few eggs though i put her into my aviary when wife was pregnent and shes there ever since!!

  • did she going to have baby or what yes or no?

  • She is quite pretty. Even as soaked as she is.

  • pretty cockatiel!

  • nice bird are you english

  • Hi mdberna,

Yes she is definately a girl. She has been laying eggs back to back when our beloved snuggles was still here and they both sat on them alternatively.Unfortunately they were empty shots and now since Snuggles is gone, she has calmed down. Which is good for her anyway as I got worried her frequent pattern. She even layed an egg into the wastepaper basket in my office. I guess she feels really safe here and is just comfortable pretty much anywere around the house.

  • hehe empty shots

  • so i donno ... if u have a female they fly away to have a baby then come back????

  • Are you sure that she's female? Looks like male I guess. I've never seen a female with so clear red spot. Females usually have light orange spots, right???
