  • @esmeraldina1879 it's from the movie the green mile with Tom hanks .. Awesome movie by the way

  • Thumbs up if Green Mile get you here.

  • Comment removed

  • quite so sun flower , but this appeals to all genrations including my young nieces . which is part of it s beauty

  • This is awesome tbh!

  • ¿ what Film to belongs this dance ? please I need to know thank !!!!

  • Top Hat--fun movie

  • I love Ginger! Thanks!!!

  • This is nice but I like Maria and Luiz's version better.

  • adoro questa canzone mi da un elevatissimo senso di legerezza

  • ti malakas einai autos re?

  • *melts* I'm probably one of the few teenagers who recognizes how downright AMAZING that is. It's more fantastic than any dancing I've ever seen.

  • *Also Melts*

Same here, if my prom played this instead of most of today's crap, I would not hesitate at all to dance with a girl!

Actually, I should say, I wouldn't hesitate to actually attend.

  • YOu are awesome for that too! :)

  • I'm a teenager and I also like this. Unfortunately I'm a bad dancer, the closer I can get is headbanging and martial arts :P

  • @MissSunFlower94 I am a straight teenage guy and i have to sway i'd rather dance in the swing style of this era if i had a choice.

  • paska::siis suoraa sano en paska

  • I've often wondered what rehearsals must've been like in order to get these superb results to the dance. Methinks it must've been something akin to common labor!

  • Ginger once said something about needing to take a vacation and go dig some ditches.

  • The tone of your reply suggests that you might've known her! At any rate, yes, it was indeed labor. Say, did Rogers ever strike up a friendship with fellow Missourian, Jane Wyman?

  • Alas, I never met her... I've just read so many books and articles that I sometimes feel as if I know these folks. :)

I don't know whether Rogers knew Wyman. Though Ginger did make a movie with Ronald Reagan in 1951, he and Jane were already divorced by that time. Wyman also had a brief affair with Lew Ayres (who was married to Ginger Rogers in the 1930s) while making JOHNNY BELINDA (1948).

  • I'm pleased as punch with your response. More, more! It's interesting, given what you've described about the two Missourians, that they did not meet in private lives since both were longtime residents of Palm Springs. They doubtless were both conservatives. As far as Wyman, I really wanted to hear more duets between Wyman and Crosby. They were fun, remember?

  • She didn't need a vacation more than the others ! As far as I dancing is concerned,it's always hard , whatever your name ! Kelly and the others must have felt the same

  • Fred A. made my life miserable because I never found a dancer like him:) It was love at first sight (falling for the dancing, not Astaire), I was 7 and we still owned a black and white TV.

  • Are their feet cut off in the fimm?...or just in this video.

  • Timeless,beautiful,graceful!

  • Despite being 25 now, to me there's just a certain beauty and charm these older films have that newer movies today can never achieve, even if the latest movies are really good on their own. I blame my grandma for always having black and white movies on all the time whenever I visted her house as a kid. :)

  • Im greatful that she had the movie on more younger people like us can know there are remarkable movies out there that make you clap and smile when the movie's finished.

  • It was written by a Jew, Irving Berlin, you anti-semite!

  • I was born in 1979 and i think i speak for everyone who missed the 30's 40' and 50's these were good times. Times we will never get to enjoy. Maybe through some old movies but society will not be like it was. Even the great depression had its good points, everyone tried. they didnt ask for handouts unless they had nothing to eat.

  • Bring back the silver screen kind of talent. Real dancing, real singing, real acting, REAL CLASS!

  • God I love this song. I'll hum it every now and then, and get a funny look from my freinds! Shame, what we call entertainment now? Well, at least Fred & Ginger are, "in Heaven!" God rest them!

  • Mi mejilla junto a la tuya......No pasan los años. Maravillosos.

  • After the trouble ginger rogers went through to be allowed to wear this dress I am sure she must have been happy with the result - it is amazing and their dancing is amazing!Still the ones to beat for dancing partners even 70ish years on.

  • She did indeed go through a lot of trouble for the dress, its blue and made of ostrich feathers. In rehersal when they went to practice the dance, the feathers started to fly off and go everywhere. Fred got angry and said something (accounts differ as to what was said. In the end, Ginger's seamstresses stayed up all night long sewing each feather on. It became Fred and Ginger's standing joke for the rest of their lives.

  • what i find amazing is that fred danced with judy garland in easter parade who was wearing a similar dress and with pleanty of ostrich feathers! lol poor fred! xxxx

  • I don't remember she was wearing feathers in "Easter Parade"... what dress, what scene, what number was it?

  • it was the first time that fred and judy dance together "professionally". she wears a blue dress with ostrich fethers on her sleeves and in her hair.XXXX

  • Thanks, you're soo quick! :-)

  • Everything about this, from the dancing to Ginger rogers dress is just gorgeous!

    Stunning song as well!

  • non è la pellicola che il condannato vuole vedere verso la fine de "il miglio verde"

  • Me siento el hombre más feliz del mundo cuando te rodeo con mis brazos y puedo bailar contigo, con mi mejilla apoyada en la tuya...

  • I have been looking for this song for a long time as I love this song, and the clip. Thank you, kusifai :)

  • dont make them like they used to

  • I wasn't around when these films were made but I have started collecting all the 'fred & ginger' films now. This clip is my favourite: it leaves me breathless. The music, the setting, the dress...These old films are priceless. Wonderful!

  • MY PASS OUT SONG!!

  • all I have to say to this is....aaaaaaaahhh! (like a sigh you know) :)

  • Fred and Ginger were fabulous....and her gown is gorgeous.

  • im 15 , & i think balck and white movies are absolutly beautiful . lock me in a room with Top Hat & Casablanca and I'll be qood for life . I Abs . Loveeeeeeeee Fred&Ginqer , their msicals qot my in to B&W movies . Just beautifuly brilliant .

  • Quel plaisir ! Rien de plus doux à écouter !

  • Love them too. But if it comes to music, I must say I prefer Ella Fitzgerald, above all.

  • I'm 14 and I love the old movies...I don't understand why most of people says they're ugly or boring...4 me they're great...

  • I just got done reading the part in Ginger's autobiography, where she talks about this scene and this dress. It's hard to believe that they were trying so hard to make her wear the same dress from The Gay Divorcee, just because Fred didn't like this one.

  • What a shame.... Nowadays, music is waving your arms in the air, and yelling "bang them Hos!" How did this become less popular than that shit?

  • The song, the dance, the costumes, the era... everything is soooo classy and romantic. i love singing this song and other jazz songs, there will never be an era quite lyk it. xx

  • hahaha i read her autobio and there was so much drama over that dress, she almost walked off the set. Fred hated the dress but no one told her; they director just made it look like everyone just wanted a different dress and they were gonna make her wear one of the old dresses from a previous film, and she was like...HELL NO!!!

  • I love this video.. It is Increible and very romantic

  • Fuck you. My mother broken the balls because wacth alwais this video at hig volume

  • Pure beauty !

  • perfecto'!

  • PERFECTION. xo

  • 3:44... that move where he places her arm around his neck... seriously, how cool is that!

  • If Fred Astaire were a young fella today he would still be a bloody amazing dancer whether he was pulling breakdance moves or jazz moves - any dancer needs to have style, strength and perfect timing and Fred Astaire had it all. Just a shame modern films dont give dancers the chance to do full routines like the amazing old B&W Hollywood movies did.

  • they make it loook so easy...effing amazing. This is art..pure beauty,it is sad that more people nowadays dont appreciate these films...

  • I do! And I'm "only" 22 years old... luv it

  • my previous post was ment to be attached to

slacker97068 post...don't know why youtube puts it at the top of the comment list...just for understanding...anyway ^^ gn8

  • Bellisimo... like a gambler's lucky streak.

  • This song makes me blush every time. Memories. :*)

  • 'This is old' or whatever...they just don't appreciate these treasures. Well, I don't care, I'm 16 years old and I LOOOOVE classic movies, from Casablanca to Sunset Boulevard to Bringing up Baby to Top Hat, and I'm proud of it. :)

  • YES. im 15; and Bringing Up Baby is my FAVORITE movie. I hate it when I walk around with my Ginger Rogers bio, or Kate Hepburns.. and no one knows who they were.

  • I remember the audience applauding after each dance number in the Fred & Ginger movies.

I am so glad to have found these clips, and I watch them over and over.

  • Hollywood nowadays can't compare to what it was back then...It was so simple and beautiful. It breaks my heart that I'm the only one in my class who loves classic hollywood, like today, my collegue was talking about a film that was made from a book we have to read, and she was like 'Well, it's a black and white movie, but what are you gonna do, we have to see it...' and it was awful to hear that, because people my age despite these movies and I absolutely love them...They say 'they're boring' or

  • This is beauty itself.

  • purple rose of cairo

  • mint video was one of my favs as a child had forgot my love of dance always thought it was really romantic

  • Bellísimo, es perfecto

  • love it

  • yes...I love this song because of "The green mile" also.

This song can makes me cry....but I still love it.

  • I always cry when I listen to this song because of John Coffey and the great movie "The green mile"...

John was right, they are like angels..

  • god hollywood was so beautiful and....just better back then :)

  • "Look, boss. They're like angels"

Hey, he was right! That's so beautiful!

  • Such grace to bad today's actors and actresses cannot imulate that. Now it's every other word in a movie is a cuss word. Great do we know how use other words.

  • Wonder what this would look like in color--I wonder what color her dress was. All you overpaid producers out there: I WANT TO SEE MORE DANCE IN FILMS; BEAUTIFUL AND ROMANTIC, NOT CRUDE; JUST LIKE THESE BEAUTIFUL FILMS WERE.

  • I always think of the Green Mile when I hear this...when the old Epscomb breaks down crying...heart breaking

  • I love this song. i was at my jr. high dance and I was dancing with my crush and we were dancing and he just started to humm this to me and i was swept off my feet.

  • That's so cute!

  • Young men who emulate Fred Astaire are bound to have romantic success.

  • yes it was soo romantic

  • "look boss. they like angels"

  • absolute legend

  • so beautiful- life should be like a dance number in an Astaire & Rogers movie! c'est magnifique.

  • Wish they made music like this now, half of the rubbish is just screaming down a mic and you can't understand it one bit.

  • I just watched the green mile..this brings tears 2 my eyes

  • beutifull music. i just think of the green mile and a tears goes down my cheek... classic

  • There are no performers today with the amount of talent, grace and class of Fred and Ginger. None that can even come close.

  • <3

I love it!! Ginger & Fred are so amazing!

  • green mile?

  • No. Top hat

  • yes!!! that's green mile!!!

  • i know, when i hear this i think about the guy who is about to go the electric chair

  • Yeah, but it's just featured in The Green Mile. If you like this, I strongly recommend you to watch Top Hat.

  • La musique de la Ligne Verte...

  • eh oui!!! c'est la musique du film la ligne verte!!!

  • ha,ouai, mais ça vien de "Top Hat"

  • Momento perfeito da dança!

  • The green mile has ruined this for me!

  • Yes...... me too. *sob*

  • back to the time in which people actually sang and danced :)

  • maravilloso

  • so cute

  • I read that Ginger had to fight for that dress. Yes, it was a lot of clean up, but it's so wonderful. What an amazing dance!

  • yea! FRED hated that dress-- the white feathers kept coming off on his tuxedo. haha. but GINGER actually designed the dress and was in love with it and was determined to wear it no matter what--and she did! :)

  • ya gotta give ginger props tho. she was right- that dress is brilliant. i bet more people remember this scene for the dress than the dance.

  • the dress IS memorable- ginger had good taste. but all the things came into play. the sets, the b/w photography, the music, fred singing AND the dancing. beautiful... IT'S ONE OF THOSE SPECIAL TIMES WHEN THE STARS WERE ALIGNED PROPERLY TO GIVE US SOMETHING VERY, VERY SPECIAL :)

  • Die beiden tanzen wunderbar zusammen, schwerelos

  • Fabulous

  • I love her dress. Fred must feel like he's dancing with a nice, soft teddy bear.

  • i just love the way she leans back on 2:16 and how he swirls her so smooothly... i still haven't found a partner good enough to trust him like that...

  • You don't see romance like this in films anymore

  • yeah for reals u never find romance like this thats why i love old movies lol i live in my own world lol

  • i live in there too!!!!

    hahaha

  • lol what in my own little world or your own world lol!!!

  • whichever one has romance like this! haha

now all we need are some guys in our own little world and we are set!

  • What a cute scene :]

  • dey liek angels, boss

  • Dear clauja777, they didn't dislike each other Fred just hated her dress because of the ostrich feathers and Ginger won the battle of wills she got to wear it. Have you noticed that when she is twirled, lots of feathers float off, that's what Fred didn't like. Especially if they had to do a re-take and the floor needed sweeping all the time.

The film is a timeless classic even though it's in BnW...

  • lol although I think it was sweet that Fred sang Ginger a parody of "Cheek to Cheek" called "Feathers" to heal the rift between them. At least they had good and long-lasting friendship.

  • I think it's one of those classics which are better for being in BnW... Silver Screen and all that :o)

  • wenglishsal is spot on actually, I saw a BBC documentary about Fred and Ginger, shown after Ginger's passing in 1995; which I also taped. It features a 1986 interview with Ginger verifying wenglishsal's statement exactly. It also has Ginger clearly stating, as quite an elderly Lady, what very good friends they were and always were and how much the publicity department at RKO "made up" stories about squabbles between Fred and Ginger. She said, "I can tell you that now, they can't fire me!"

  • Do you still have this tape ? I'm a journalist and preparing an article on Fred and Ginger and I would be ready to buy you a copy of this tape , it might be very useful.

  • what i think is funny is that fred hated this dress!!

  • That is true, the faethers were flying around, they had the stop filming all the time because fred had wite feathers all over his black suite ,he was mad about that because he wanted everthing in perfection. That,s how the story get in the world they did,t like eachother but Fred sent Ginger a golden feather the next day, appologising for his "outrage" called her " dear feathers" ;)

  • Is a fact... jbolin000 and mortson978 you are the result of a bad education. How pitty!!! P.S.: You are very respecfull too: jbolin000 Interests and Hobbies: Law, politics, idiots (democrats), and golf :( mortson978 Roses are red... Violets are blue... I'm a schizophrenic... And so am I Schools: None, Just graduated (didn't go)... Yes, I see... What can you expect from them...???
  • Heaven, I'm in Heaven,

    And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak;

And I seem to find the happiness I seek

When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek.

    Heaven, I'm in Heaven,

And the cares that hang around me thro' the week

Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak

When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek.

  • oh this is a great song!so romantic!it describes true love!i know it from the green mile and from the english patient.great movies, great song! :D

    i love it ^^

  • its hard believe they really didn't get along

  • I have been looking for this song, but looking under to I'm In Heaven

  • American films, the real films.

  • So elegant and breathtaking - absolutely love it. It never gets tired...

  • Your obviously another idiot that your parents didn't beat hard enough ! Without looking, I can tell your a young punk.

  • you're retarded, i swear.

Id imagine, you are just jealous of his talent. But what ever.

  • sigh. are there any guys like this left?

  • no feet!! my 3-year-old kept saying, i can't see their feet, and she's right as they're cropped out for most of the clip...

  • SPLENDID. One of my favorite musicals.

  • Our dance studio did a dance to this and it was really cool. Only we sped up the song.

Im so glad for Fred and Ginger... otherwise we wouldnt dance like we do today!

  • Fred and Ginger, Ginger and Fred...you just can't buy *chemistry* like that.

  • すばらしい最高だ!

  • So romantic! :)

  • I sang this song in Choir it is so awesome!

  • have u film that moment?

because I really want to watch it!

  • Don't you think the singing guy looks a bit like Percy in the Green Mile?

  • Is there a word?

  • what movie is this song from??

  • This song is from "Top Hat" (1935) directed by Mark Sandrich.

This song has been used also in

    - The English Patient

    - The Green Mile

    - AI : Artificial Intelligence

    - and some TV series

  • thank you for answering God Bless You!!

  • Top Hat. This was the grand finale in a string of great songs (and dances). One of my favorites.

  • how romantic

  • ooooh the romance! :}

  • That was wonderful! A beautiful classic.

  • Alright. How many ladies out there besides me wish they could have tried this dress on and had a twirl in it just once?

  • LOL - Looks a bit like my outfit after the dogs sneaked on the sofa when I'm not looking !

  • twirling is one thing but with a partner that thing can get tangled in all sorts of ways and then you can easily end up in a heap.

  • MEE TOOOOO !!!!!! eva

  • I love the way that the life was back then the men, the respect for everyone. The way an actoe actually acted and sang and danced unlike these supposed "Actors" to today. Fred and Ginger made a wonderful team. If there movies don't bring a smile to your face them my friend somethings wrong with you!

  • soo true what you wrote this hould bring a smile to anyone's face!!!

  • its not a matter about which came first. they watch this movie during the green mile.

  • fantastic song .. movie .. fred&ginger ..respect!

  • For those of you talking about the Green Mile or whatever, this movie and song came first, some SIXTY FOUR years earlier. Respect and learn the original. Fred, Ginger and Berlin.

  • So Beautiful...We need to return of this wonderful musical times...
