gran had been nagging me grandad about getting the sweep in to clean the chimney

i called in and grandad said "right you i have a job to do , give us a hand"

he had me holding a sheet over the fire front while he went onto the roof with a hen from his yard

i waited , then there was a scream from ma wells nextdoor

i ran outside to see a sooty hen in running down her path

joe wells came out of the house and took a potshot at grandad with a 12 bore
