  • "From time to time, to remind ourselves to relax and be peaceful, we may wish to set aside some time for a retreat, a day of mindfulness, when we can walk slowly, smile, drink tea with a friend, enjoy being together as if we are the happiest people on Earth."

    — Thich Nhat Hanh (Being Peace)

  • @lafferlg

what kind of question is that? can you explain?

  • @cuckos95 no need to get offended if you did. so, you cannot attain truth trough methods. I can easly find peace if I retire from the society and even then I doubt it. so, what I am saying is that they are all imitating some methods to attain love or whatever personal goals they do desire. retiring from society to a monestary. it's fairly easy. you can do that. but to live in society with love and not following anyone that seems to me fairly difficult. counting breaths doesn't lead anywhere

  • calms me down:)

  • very nice

  • in his book he wrote something like...

Thich asked his friend what he thought about when drinking tea.

His friend replied that he thought of what he was going to do after drinking tea

Thich told him he should think of just drinking tea. If not it robs him of living in the present moment and the pleasure of drinking tea

  • thich nhat hanh is the man

  • this guy is very sweet, cute.

  • Try Artlumino. It offers you nice entertainment using the power of affirmations.

  • Thank you for this!

  • Tai Chi Chuan is similar except that Tai Chi movements are more complex.

Qi gong variations are also similar.

  • @Shamn666 Qi gong? That's just breathing.. everyone does it. Consult a true master.

  • This is wonderful for my daughter and mother who complain about exercise.

    This is art!

  • watched a doc about him in a class recently...everyone watched and listened quietly, and, we all departed quite content. thanks for posting this...ever mindful.

  • thich nhat hanh is very insightful to me, I truly love this new found meditation.

  • @azclangregor It's raw meditation without the religious flourish, 100% better imo.

  • Thank you for this *~Namaste~*

  • i am smiling at this

  • Genuinely sweet guy.

  • very cool grasshopper.

  • The introduction is the best bit for me.

  • The secret is to concentrate on the present.

The very moment you think about what you have to do or how much money you need to buy that new car you've lost contact with the present.

  • Drumelody just do a search for mindful movements on google

  • mindfulness is the energy of awareness... and is guided by appreciation of each moment's offerings to us.

  • Gracias... como me alegro leer, encontrar paginas como estas en internet, en You Tube.....

  • I have found sitting meditation isn't always a relaiable way to restore oneself. I assume that's why Thich Naht Hanh came up with these movements.

Anyone had much success with the mindful movements, (i intend to buy the DVD).

  • I have had "success" with mindful movements. I call it swimming. Swimming is very sensual and at the same time it demands ones attention because even breathing becomes a technique. With every movement there is a sense of ease or resistance, balance or imbalance. Speaking ceases and there is only the sounds of the body and the water. It can be a very active way to meditate.

  • With more & more practice, these methods continue to develop, But it's not magic or cosmic. Practice. You can practice mindfulness with any movement, as shuumai is suggesting. Don't expect much for awhile. Just practice as a regular exercise and after awhile...

  • Thank-you, I have bought the DVD and will try these as an exercise. I hope to get some peace from it. I don't expect it to untie my emotional knots.

  • You are most welcome. Please look forward to "boring" parts. Those usually indicate you are approaching a doorway, which you'll only know after each time you've passed thru. Savor the boredom parts as yet another phenomenon to really take a "look" at: just what is this "mind" that gets "bored"? Or is it something else getting bored?

Just what IS the mind DOING, anyway??? 8^P

  • Does anyone know if the last 5 movements

can be found here on youtube ????

  • In time these healing practices of the body and mind have brought me health & happiness.

  • we love the sky, it is never the same :)

    Namaste
