This is the best video I've seen so far for how to work towards an Asian squat. I've been trying to work towards a just below parallel squat for barbell training, but haven't been able to really start since I can't actually get below parallel. This video gives me some good ideas on how to achieve it. Thanks for posting!
Wall squats are good. Supports your back and allows you to let go into hips and ankles. RE weights and stretching: If your lifting is hampering your flexibility, and your goal is to be more flexible, do more reps/less weight. I never ever did any weight training for my legs. Practicing 1500 to 2000 slow kicks a day for years gave me all the strength i needed, and I needed more flexibility as a result of my training program. If your goal is to kick to the head, less weights. Hope that helps.
Hi Mark, Thanks for all the videos! I have a few questions. 1) What's your view on 'wall squats' for building flexibility? How do you balance weight lifting with stretching? I do alot of leg exercises to build leg mass, but I noticed stretching gets me sore. If find it hard stretching on the days before and after I legpress/squat.
*I have tight hip muscles that limit my side kicks.
Thanks, glad it helped. I would try to get the range of motion in the joint before you add weight.

Great vid,
I have tight achilles tendons, how long would you say it would take for me to get in that position if I practiced it multiple times daily?

@howtostretch Thanks, i'll try decreasing my frequency of weights. 1500-2000 kicks a day! That's dedication.

You're welcome. Squatting is one of the best, yet simple, exercises to stretch numerous muscle groups.
