  • Thanks, glad it helped. I would try to get the range of motion in the joint before you add weight.

  • This is the best video I've seen so far for how to work towards an Asian squat. I've been trying to work towards a just below parallel squat for barbell training, but haven't been able to really start since I can't actually get below parallel. This video gives me some good ideas on how to achieve it. Thanks for posting!

  • Yes, it will. Keep at it, it will help you to prevent injuries as well.

  • will this help in football and in squating weight cause i have a problem with goin low thats y i need stretches

  • Great vid,

I have tight achilles tendons, how long would you say it would take for me to get in that position if I practiced it multiple times daily?

  • I wish i could sit in a squat as easy as you can, i have terrible ankle flexibility.

  • Thanks for the video.

What are the expectations for a 45 year old with lumbar spine issue to achieve flexibility

in hips&legs? How often should I stretch(I'm doing weight training)

  • Wall squats are good. Supports your back and allows you to let go into hips and ankles. RE weights and stretching: If your lifting is hampering your flexibility, and your goal is to be more flexible, do more reps/less weight. I never ever did any weight training for my legs. Practicing 1500 to 2000 slow kicks a day for years gave me all the strength i needed, and I needed more flexibility as a result of my training program. If your goal is to kick to the head, less weights. Hope that helps.

  • @howtostretch Thanks, i'll try decreasing my frequency of weights. 1500-2000 kicks a day! That's dedication.

  • Hi Mark, Thanks for all the videos! I have a few questions. 1) What's your view on 'wall squats' for building flexibility? How do you balance weight lifting with stretching? I do alot of leg exercises to build leg mass, but I noticed stretching gets me sore. If find it hard stretching on the days before and after I legpress/squat.

*I have tight hip muscles that limit my side kicks.

  • You're welcome. Squatting is one of the best, yet simple, exercises to stretch numerous muscle groups.

  • going to try this ^^ thanks
