The secret is this, the Gold market is controlled in advance by a computer program, and not by "buying" and "selling", so once you know this "code" for the Gold market you can trade Gold everyday and make almost as much money as you want to make. Google "Gold Trading Academy" to learn more.
Weed yes. Powders no. As a person having every drug imaginable at my fingertips for over 40 years, I can say with authority that powders kill. They killed my friends, and to legalize them is to put all at serious peril. Free the weed and mushrooms and leave it at that. No one needs LSD...Maybe once.
Prescriptions drugs have waaaay more dead bodies attached to their use than "illegal" drugs. Not condoning hard drug use but its a point that most idiot drug prohibitionists conveniently ignore. Not to mention a third or more of the population being on some kind of Rx under the blessing of a doctor. Just my 2cents on the issue
I don't use drugs and I don't want people to use drugs, but I support legalization of drugs. This would put an end to the crime on the Mexican boarder.
All you f@#king morons who think that someday we will all just stop taking drugs and Law Enforcement will incarcerate all drug dealers....well....Ur just smoking crack you fucking idiot,... The only answer is to decriminalize it, and REGULATE it!!!! Just like Alcohol and Cigarrettes.
oh great so they want to legalize drugs again. This douche bag doesnt look like he is strung out and addicted to drugs..LEGALIZED DRUGS ARE STILL OUT OF CONTROL...look up impact boosting in cigarettes..tobacco scientists add ammonia to cigarettes to make the nicotine hit more intense and more addictive...you want to give them MORE drugs to screw with..Is this video even legitimate?
@human0un You fool, have you seen what goes on. Gangs are running wild in the street because of drugs being illigal, if we made them legal, the gangs and the drug dealers would be gone, gone i tell ya. If someone wants to smoke a cigarette its there choice, poeple know thats its addictive thats not gonna stop someone from taking it.
@doomsword86 If you need more scientific evidence that it kills brain cells and is harmful to your lungs than is already out there ,maybe you've already killed too many brain cells.By the way Obama and Clinton should not be used as a standard since they are two of the biggest dissappointments in presidential history. All I said was that at my school you would be considered a loser and a bum. I'm glad you live in a more liberal area pothead.
Potheads are bums and losers. Growing up , at my school if you smoked pot you were a lowlife. From the ghetto or barrio . People have been trying to legalize marijuana for decades. Every decade thinks they're going to do it. It hasnt happenned.
I have been smoking cannabis for a couple years now, and I just wanna say that you come off as a stupid asshole who can't defend his point with scientific or medical evidence, so you make ad-hominem attacks on one group of people you have seen taking the drug. This is the internet my friend, most people here have been exposed to too much of that bullshit in the past, and recognize a more useful style of debate now.
@thebillydangerous Do you really need more scientific evidence. Hey moron it kills brain cells and is harmful to your lungs. How's that for science you doped up fucken poor excuse for a human being. All I said was that where I'm from you would be considered a shit bag. Luckily for you you are in a more liberal area . And yes I can tell by your debating style that you have been exposed to so much in your life. Go back to school moron.
@TheDievil6 As much as I enjoy internet flame wars none of what you said is substantiated. Marijuana doesn't kill braincells and if you consume it with a vaporizer it is scientifically proven to absolutely nullify any evidence of lung damage (if there is any to begin with - many would argue). The education system has properly propagandized yourself but I don't think when someone breaks outside of the rubric they are somehow inherently uneducated. Also don't call people a moron its not nice.
@TheDievil6 hey there bud..wanna go do shots of tequila with some beer chasers? Bet u think the drug known as alcohol is as safe . Forget about the hundreds of thousands that die from their abuse of it.
@jiuufctsu18 similar to durgs, millions of dollars are largely wasted from tax payers. prostitution has existed forever, and is not going away anywhere soon. its legal in most of the world FYI
I can't believe people STILL believe drugs should be illegal. If pro-drug prohibition people pulled their heads out of their asses and studied the roots and results of drug prohibition they would have to see their beliefs are flawed. Read some history...look at the statistical number of people in prison for possession alone...and look how much money we (as taxpayers) have spent, and are spending, on a failed drug war. It's absolute insanity! This is what we get with big government.
Under our current system, if an average adult wants illegal drugs, their easiest way to get them would be to go through a teenager, because they are more readily available to teenagers. This is the opposite of what alcohol is. Legalization will put these harder drugs under the control of adults, just like alcohol.
Whats illegal doing heroin once, because your mom got raped and killed or arresting some one for doing no harm to know one? I mean go to jail get shanked 11 times or get a hang over and never try it again... Use common sesnce people our goverment wants to hurt innocent people for money!

@PsychoSpammer sorry whats the lethal dose of acid? Oh right there is not one if you follow the same logic as we do for marijuana, yet you lumped it incorrectly. People make mistakes but the important thing is to learn from them
@EgadsNo What's comparing weed to heroin and coke got to do with acid ? l'm not saying we should legalize acid. They both have no lethal dose but thats all they have in common. l wasnt saying to legalize pot on the lethal dose aspects alone. The fact is it is less harmfull than alcahol or even cigarettes.
All these LEAP organizations are the greatest things to ever be created, Its are best chance of putting some common sense back into intolerant, moronic majority of America.
Before I start actually watching the video, I would like to say if we legalize drugs, it would stop directly funding terrorism, and fund our economy a great deal. Maybe its enough to pull us out of this recession. The only problem with making it legal, is that large tobacco companies would probably add the same chemicals to the drugs as they do with cigarettes making them much worse than it already is. Cigarettes are probably worse than drugs. Drinking is probably worse too, yet thats legal
WELL the government wants to kill us .. our world is over populated its true .. there is a video if u want to watch it message me and it will tell u wat everyone is being lied to about... everything "they" tell us is a lie
We own our own bodies. If someone wants to inject him/herself with something that may be dangerous but makes the person feel good it's his decision. It's not goverments damn business to say what we can or cannot do with our own bodies. Fuck the restrictions!
@RamonaFromPomona Well, they would be the same medical reasons for using alcohol and tobacco :)
People need to decide for themselves whether to take these drugs or not. Regulated drugs, safety control like there is on other legal stuff, and tax income for the government can be used towards health networks.
Legalize weed, shrooms, LSD. I don't think we can have people freely doing cocaine and heroin though, that'll make more crime than ever. True what you say though, American drug war=fail
The idea behind legalization of all drugs is to have them regulated by the government and away from the black market, who might cut cocaine with rat poison as filler to make more money. And to give addicts help, instead of just tossing them in jail for them to become hardened criminals. Also i believe human rights gets in there somewhere, shouldn't we be able to consume anything we want in the privacy of our own home provided we don't hurt anybody? (not that taking meth is advised lol)
@natep96 agreed. altho cocaine and heroin are the ones who are really making the most crime and also meth, this is why i think it all should be legalize we all know the risks. who ever uses them more than once a year are idiot and if the get addicted rehab.
@natep96 Heroin, cocain, meth are the biggest problem. They are the main source of violence so they must be the priority in legalization. Once you eliminate their economic value you put an end on the chain of violence and leave space for the cure and responsible use.
Interesting and persuasive. I've supported supported decriminalization for years, but Chief Stamper is correct, to be meaningful it must be legalization.
Never would have considered making hard drugs legal. I see his point and can't help but agree, nonetheless, I still can't see how the more dangerous drugs could be safely dispensed.
When it comes to legalizing drugs I have no problem with it. What bothers me is that nobody ever mentions crack. What is up with that?!?!
I do believe that prohibition of all drugs, including alcohol, would be a better alternative, but I AM actually in reality and I am fully aware that a country like America would never be able to enforce such a law.
@themalina92 I'm not American but remember hearing about in the 30s or something, when America banned alcohol! That was a big disaster, as people just made their own, with much more health risk because there was no control on quality, and also the black market for it grew rapidly. No wonder they legalised it again. They should do the same with all drugs. There is no point banning something that man people want to take. Just use education like we do with tobacco to reduce health risk.
Actually if you look at the recent decriminalisation of drugs in Portugal, their project was deemed a complete success. Although drug consumption stayed relatively the same (not as much as many countries can say for their zero-tolerance drug policies, particularly USA, which has seen a massive INCREASE in drug use in recent years), the harmful effects related to quality control, unsafe needle use for IV drugs, crime, etc, have been reduced. Don't let government fear tactics cloud your vision. :)
I am so sick of phoney do gooders telling me what I can & can't put in my body! I suffer from back pain & have to travel to Florida to get pain medication because unlike other states the pain clinics will help you there. There is nothing free about this country !!!

Good news: The March 9, 2010 cover story of USA Today states many states are relaxing their marijuana laws, and California is moving towards legalization. Even very conservative officials now acknowledge the old system actually makes it EASIER for kids to get pot. Also, states are tired of spending money on incarcerations and instead want to tax it and make money. It's about time sanity takes over!
So you are not a supporter of the U.S. constitution Mr. Jastin? Study pharmacology and drugs interaction on the human body and then comment. Based on your comment if someone does not like your view point they are in the right to let see how did you put it? Break your ass hard. Simply stunning sir, your wisdom and understanding is clearly demonstrated in your statements.
I am not a supporter of the US constitution, just because a drug is bad for you doesn't mean it should be penalized, and, I will break my ass hard, and like it too.
@MrJastin the constitution is for legalization is a libertarian document which says basiclly government power is in the states which can pretty much do whatever the people who live there want... and not steal money haha
man i'm in college right now and I can say first handed that it is WAY easier to get illegal drugs than a legal drug like alcohol cuz its regulated so I can't buy it myself cuz i'm not 21 but I can buy weed whenever haha
The NWO is behind this, it is a way of removing non essential humans. Think not? Wait till the system makes you tagged by chips, which has already started, goal: decrease human pop. 500 million. How would u get rid of human pop "willingly"? Get the idiots 2 take dangerous drugs regulated that are laced w/compounds that accelerate ur death earlier. Now, who wants to die I mean wants to legalize drugs?
There Is NOT a "system" that comes out of nowhere that Forces everyone to do what they want you to do for an "agenda" to decrease the human population. Whenever decreasing of the human population was on the party platform of a government it was done by affecting the birth rate (advising use of condoms, the pill, costing a lot of money to have more than 2 kids, "fear of spreading STDs", etc). The government doesnt attempt to lower the pop by killing anyone/making people willing to kill themself.
@Roshea1956 that's how it is now. they can slip molecules into "illegal" drugs because they are not checked for quality. If they were legal, they would not be dangerous. In fact, cocaine and heroin (not shot) are safer than tobacco and alcohol, at least in reasonable recreational doses.
If drugs are legalized, then 80% of america's prison population would be released, greatly cutting prison expenses, and it would make the drug situation much better
@zitianaki, I'd imagine that the sale and manufacture of hard drugs such as heroin will still be illegal. In Portugal they 'legalised' drugs, replacing a jail sentence with either a fine or mandatory therapy. They seem to be getting good results so far.
I believed Portugal only decriminalized. This means the average user may not get punished but the massive market is still controlled by cartels. We need to legalize, tax and government regulate if we're going to get passed this bullshit war on drugs.
From what I've read decriminalization has helped reduced drug use in Portugal though legalization would help even more by cutting profits for the illegal traders. In Australia our Nation's Capital, Canberra, has decriminalized small amounts of Cannabis only though I'm not sure of any statistics. I can say this though, Australia has a very low crime rate all over the country and our Police force tend to focus more on real crimes than busting drug users. You may have heard of Nimbin ;)
There aren't any countries that have legalized all drugs, but alcohol is harmful, addictive and something heroine and coke aren't, incredible popular. So take a look at the prohibition of alcohol, we have drug gangs now back then they had gangsters bootlegging.
There will ALWAYS be people robbing no matter what the product. Legalizing and government regulating these products will severely decrease the access people have to them. Police resources could then be spent on important things like catching those who rob and not those who choose to use these drugs. Governments could then implement measures to ween people off these hard drugs completely and take control of the black market.
No. There are three reasons why addicts turn to crime when they're banned:
1. Drugs are really expensive when they're illegal, and are hard to finance without turning to crime or prostitution.
2. Making it illegal discourages addicts from seeking treatment.
3. If an addict is already considered a criminal and is risking years in jail for taking drugs, what difference does it make if he commits other crimes.
I believe ron paul wanted to end the war on drugs and legalize drugs. That is real change America could of used since it would of lower our budget and reduce the crime rate in America. Drug cartels and gangs would not be able to profit from this black market in order to buy weapons. There would also be less turf wars.
Yes, marijuana should certainly be legalized. All other hard core drugs are not mainstream. Obviously the war on weed has failed and we need to legalize it to take the drugs out of the drug cartels hands. PLEASE TAKE ACTION AND WRITE TO YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVES!!! Dont keep complaining in the dark and MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!!!
Even though it pains me to admit, drugs wont be legal for a looooong time. Maybe when my generation becomes MP's/Senators etc it might be so. The masses are too indoctrinated by propaganda, and so policitians wont touch it because of the stigma attached. BIGFUCKINGSADFACE
I wouldn't be so sure about that. The majority of the US knows that the drug wars are costly, ineffective and violate personal freedom. Then add to the fact that the younger generations are less and less morally conservative republicans. Kids today don't care so much about gay marriage and other religious agendas They see organized religion as a hypocritical axe designed to split the public in hopes of imposing their agenda on the majority. Not to mention that much of the younger generation.
bent over and took it in the rear with this economy. I don't really think people feel they can afford the extra hundreds of dollars it cost a year to incarcerate drug users which make up 66% of the prison population. Especially, when the drug war has been running its course for over 30 years and drug use and amount of smuggled drugs are way up.
I would enjoy seeing cannabis commercials on tv, but i would feel weird if i saw a pro-heroin commercial, so i would maybe say.. That's out of the question. I come from denmark, and i don't think the government even allows cigarette commercials on posters even.. I wouldn't want to be told to do drugs on tv.. i just feel different about cannabis, but maybe others feel the same way about cannabis, that i do about cocaine/heroin/meth/x/fantasy and all sorts of other drugs..
this won't happen. they will make advertising illegal like they did for cigarettes. they have been talking about this very issue in many of the debates/speeches on the LEAP website.
the ironic thing is keeping drugs illegal probably does more harm to people overall, as it funds criminal activity and brings everyday people into contact with organized criminals, also because of this there are no standards by which the big dealers have to adhere to, washing powder in your cocaine? thank criminalization.
There's also the fact that it corrupts the police etc etc The list just goes on. Still, it can't continue forever. Once pot falls, it'll be acid next and then everything else will follow.
yep, also true. its gonna be decriminalized soon int the UK i think, head drugs advisor got sacked for saying weed, mdma and LSD are less dangerous than alcohol, story is all over the news and alot of advisors are resigning in protest, seems to be raising awareness among the general public that these so called "killer drugs" are not so bad after all.
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Whats illegal doing heroin once, because your mom got raped and killed or arresting some one for doing no harm to know one? I mean go to jail get shanked 11 times or get a hang over and never try it again... Use common sesnce people our goverment wants to hurt innocent people for money.
We are not "losing" the war on drugs, it is LOST, and has been for some time. A 15 year old boy recently told me he could buy illegal drugs "100 times" easier than cigarettes because drug dealers don't check ids. Imagine that, one trillion dollars spent on this crusade and drugs are still easier to get than tobacco.
, and waaay more money back into the government (for the people.. ya right..) , not all people that choose to drink or do drugs cause any disturbance to others in the community. It is adult controlled substance use. Drugs and alcohol have always been and always will be a freedom of choice.
The difference is if someone chooses to consume alcohol, so long as it is done lawfully, generally there isn't an issue other than a headache in the morning. Of course excessive drinking may lead to problems. If someone chooses to ingest a narcotic such as heroin for example, generally that individual is hooked after using only once. Heroin, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, these substances cause people to behave in ways they normally wouldn't. As a result some individuals turn to crime.....
How many people chose to drink or do drugs? CLEARLY it is more common in our society than naive people tend to believe, it is not the drug dealers that are forcing people to buy them, people are making their own grown up decisions, but with the drug of choice being illegal, thus harder to find, it makes it very profitable to sell, supply and demand, so if drugs were legalized and sold to adults like alcohol there would be no more profit for the dealers,
Familiar story. Leave office, THEN write the tell all book or make the BIG point. We need people to make the point while they are IN office..........Scott Maclellan, Richard Clarke bust the Bush admin. AFTER they leave office.
Of course drugs need to be legalised! People should be free to choose what to put in their own body.
I'd say educate about drugs, like we educate about smoking tobacco. People need the gory details, warnings on packets of drugs, but in the end it is their body.
@dilemmix I want to be able to go to the grocery store, and next to the cigarettes there is coke, meth, heroin, acid, pcp, weed, weed products, and various delivery systems. (pipes, papers)
@manbearpig91 Exactly! Or there can be "coffee shops" like in the Netherlands where there is a whole range of drugs to choose from. You can either use them in the shop or take out, lol. But seriously, it would be MUCH safer if these drugs are regulated because there would be control, and it would be treated like a health issue instead of a criminal issue. I'm Dutch and seriously, there is NO MORE drug use here than in other countries where it is illegal! Maybe even less.
@manbearpig91 True. It's a choice. Either let the government regulate it like alcohol and tobacco, and create more tax income that they could use towards health and prevention services, or let the maffia/black market run it and drain money away from taxpayers this way. It doesn't take rocket science... so why are most countries reluctant to legalise even soft drugs?
@dilemmix but then theres lots of grey area. What sort of regulations will law makers impose? how open will the trade be? how acquirable will it be? Also, where is the line drawn between hard drugs and soft drugs? How high should the tax be to out compete the black market but remain profitable? Granted legalization is due, and the rewards are waiting, but its not going to work without careful planing.
did prohibition work when god told adam and eve not to eat from the forbidden fruit the only people who dont want legalization is drug enforcement , pharmaceutical companies, and drug cartels because they stand to lose money if its made legal. Im a border patrol agent and your probably a drug dealer scared of losing there job JUANVOYCE get a college degree like me then if u lose funding like u and will one day you can find another job
To follow your scenario--they were thrown out of the garden for their act. Forbidden fruit remains forbidden fruit. Illegal drugs remain illegal drugs. Do you understand the metaphor better now?? Thank you for protecting our border.
even though i agree with many of your statements the way you express them is alienating and offensive. this is a serious issue, and if someone is ignorant you should take the time to be open minded. that's how you learn more about your own point of view and are able to educate at the same time. we need people to understand the truth about prohibtion (lol and even though its true the adam and eve bit probably wont score any points)
Write a letter to your representatives supporting the War on Drugs. They need to hear from about why you don't favor legalization, or all your voice will be drowned out by pot-heads and their apologists.
Poor guy you just dont understand this issue obv. The war on drugs is a failure we are arresting people at a unreal rate and wasting trillions of dollars doing it instead of giving these people the proper treatment we toss them in jail
Instead of educating our kids and opening more programs we just laugh at them and look past it and think oh war on drugs yea thats good . Well 70 years at war and nothing has changed but more drugs are coming in and higher quality. Why wouldnt we legalize and regulate them e
Dont you think if the kids in the city had better schools and nodrug dealers then the kids would see that hey look i can make it with school instead of the easy money selling drugs thats not an option anymore bc we regulate it and put an age limit on it. Then deal with the drug problem in a public health matter not jail and prison in the last 10 years 1/2 of the tobacco smokers quit not bc of prohibition bc of Education and that is the most addictive drug.
by pot heads man do you no know who is in leap and made leap COPS ,JUDGES ,LAWYERS, DETECTIVES, U.C DETECTIVES , FEDERAL MARSHALLS come on man i think they know a little more about this matter and been more involved with it these are guys that fought the war on drugs for over 10 years and all came to the same conclusion we have to deal with it in a public health matter not law enforcement u bust one dealr another one pops up bs of the money of it being illegal
Sit here, write all the comments you want, but until you write a letter to every one of your local, state and federal legislatiors, you have done nothing!
Until legislators realize we, the majority, want a change in this policy, they will never do this on there own, its political death for them with out the endless streams of letters and calls they need in support if it.
Write a letter today, get a friend to write one too then do it all over again every single day.
yes drugs should be legal. why is the government obsessed with extending peoples lives? when they cant afford to support them. let people do what they want so what if they die at 50 its thier life
Drugs should be legalised out of principle. It's my body - I should have the choice to do what I want with it. And no, I would not choose to do drugs as I understand the dangers. Nevertheless, it's your choice.
The parents should know better. The rest of us shouldn't have to suffer because some loons give drugs to their kids.
Actually, parents give their kids drugs quite often in the Western world these days, what with drugs for depression, ADHD, insomnia - powerful, mood altering drugs (I know, I've used some in the past) . . . many are addictive. Is that acceptable?
1. Not at all...there is an individual named Marc Emery who feels marijuana is GOOD for you. In fact, he's often bragged about smoking marijuana with kids. He uses the same arguement for marijuana and ALL drugs
2. Yeah, I agree parents often give their kids prescription drugs, sleeping pills, ridalin, etc. I don't find it acceptable. So this nullifies your 1st point when you say "The parents should know better"
No, I don't think wrestling is real. It's just something I watch for fun. Don't ASSUME I think it's real.
To try and discredit someone for watching wrestling tells me you choose not to listen to anyone. Are you saying a guy watches wrestling, therefore he doesn't know what he's talking about. You don't even know my background...
LOL is it legal for you to give your kid beer or a ciggarette no so why would it be any different if all drugs were regulated and out of dealers and cartels hands they dont care if your kid buys there drugs. We got half of the tobacco smokers to stop smoking in the last 10 years and not from prohibition through Education
No one believes that silly but its easier for our kids to get crack then alchohol and you know who else is for this war on drug? Drug Dealers and DRug Cartels thats who you guys support by supporting the war on drugs
I don't agree I'm supporting directly or indirectly the dealers & cartels. They should be thrown in jail.
Do you honestly believe if it were legalized NOW that the dealers & cartels would go away? Don't you think they would change their business? Or, move their business to another country?
Well prohibition creates the DRUG dealer and DRUG cartels how does it not if its regulated put age limits on it card people make them use new needles and eliminate the drug dealer educate our kids on the matter and give the schools better education its silly not too legalize you just keep thinking that doing the same thing over and over and over and getting results if more drugs in the country and think thats the way to go
people should be thrown away for violent crimes, or dealing substances that have been proven to do physical and mental harm. And you think that legalizing drugs won't help? do you know anyone who grows tobacco plants to save money... not to mention get rid of the harmful carcinogens found in cigarettes, NO. Ending prohibition wouldn't necessarily destroy all cartels, but it would definetily hinder their business which so far we've failed at.
You've asked alot of questions so I'll try to get to them all:
1. You say "Do you know anyone who grows tobacco plants to save money..." Yes, the indian reserves are growing/smuggling/selling cigarettes to undercut the taxes and sell to teens
2. You say "No, ending prohibition wouldn't necessarily destroy all cartels..." I think we agree on this point. Look at Amsterdam where it is legal. They took their business elsewhere or undersell the going rate...

I have been smoking cannabis for a couple years now, and I just wanna say that you come off as a stupid asshole who can't defend his point with scientific or medical evidence, so you make ad-hominem attacks on one group of people you have seen taking the drug. This is the internet my friend, most people here have been exposed to too much of that bullshit in the past, and recognize a more useful style of debate now.
thebillydangerous 11 months ago
@thebillydangerous Do you really need more scientific evidence. Hey moron it kills brain cells and is harmful to your lungs. How's that for science you doped up fucken poor excuse for a human being. All I said was that where I'm from you would be considered a shit bag. Luckily for you you are in a more liberal area . And yes I can tell by your debating style that you have been exposed to so much in your life. Go back to school moron.
TheDievil6 11 months ago
@TheDievil6 As much as I enjoy internet flame wars none of what you said is substantiated. Marijuana doesn't kill braincells and if you consume it with a vaporizer it is scientifically proven to absolutely nullify any evidence of lung damage (if there is any to begin with - many would argue). The education system has properly propagandized yourself but I don't think when someone breaks outside of the rubric they are somehow inherently uneducated. Also don't call people a moron its not nice.

Drinking is probably worse too, yet thats legal

natep96 1 year ago
@natep96

@JackLefty Legalize it all..and focus on ALL drugs...more people are addicted to Doctor prescribed drugs than all the illegal drugs combined.
davehutchinson67 1 year ago
@natep96 Heroin, cocain, meth are the biggest problem. They are the main source of violence so they must be the priority in legalization. Once you eliminate their economic value you put an end on the chain of violence and leave space for the cure and responsible use.

It's kind of ironic that people only blaim the legal system. Doesn't personal responsibility mean anything?
It's sad that some people believe that if we tell teenagers not to do drugs or have risky sex, they will do it anyway.

Blackmark52 1 year ago
When it comes to legalizing drugs I have no problem with it. What bothers me is that nobody ever mentions crack. What is up with that?!?!
I do believe that prohibition of all drugs, including alcohol, would be a better alternative, but I AM actually in reality and I am fully aware that a country like America would never be able to enforce such a law.
themalina92 1 year ago
@themalina92 I'm not American but remember hearing about in the 30s or something, when America banned alcohol! That was a big disaster, as people just made their own, with much more health risk because there was no control on quality, and also the black market for it grew rapidly. No wonder they legalised it again. They should do the same with all drugs. There is no point banning something that man people want to take. Just use education like we do with tobacco to reduce health risk.
dilemmix 1 year ago
Actually if you look at the recent decriminalisation of drugs in Portugal, their project was deemed a complete success. Although drug consumption stayed relatively the same (not as much as many countries can say for their zero-tolerance drug policies, particularly USA, which has seen a massive INCREASE in drug use in recent years), the harmful effects related to quality control, unsafe needle use for IV drugs, crime, etc, have been reduced. Don't let government fear tactics cloud your vision. :)

Good news: The March 9, 2010 cover story of USA Today states many states are relaxing their marijuana laws, and California is moving towards legalization.

@zitianaki, I'd imagine that the sale and manufacture of hard drugs such as heroin will still be illegal. In Portugal they 'legalised' drugs, replacing a jail sentence with either a fine or mandatory therapy. They seem to be getting good results so far.
happyorangeanimation 2 years ago
I believed Portugal only decriminalized. This means the average user may not get punished but the massive market is still controlled by cartels. We need to legalize, tax and government regulate if we're going to get passed this bullshit war on drugs.
geezgsr 2 years ago
Sounds like a plan. Would much appreciate it if you have any statistics of countries that have tried it before?
What Portugal have done is definately an improvement (so far) I would have thought.
happyorangeanimation 2 years ago
From what I've read decriminalization has helped reduced drug use in Portugal though legalization would help even more by cutting profits for the illegal traders. In Australia our Nation's Capital, Canberra, has decriminalized small amounts of Cannabis only though I'm not sure of any statistics. I can say this though, Australia has a very low crime rate all over the country and our Police force tend to focus more on real crimes than busting drug users. You may have heard of Nimbin ;)
geezgsr 2 years ago
There aren't any countries that have legalized all drugs, but alcohol is harmful, addictive and something heroine and coke aren't, incredible popular. So take a look at the prohibition of alcohol, we have drug gangs now back then they had gangsters bootlegging.
Hashishin13 1 year ago
There will ALWAYS be people robbing no matter what the product. Legalizing and government regulating these products will severely decrease the access people have to them. Police resources could then be spent on important things like catching those who rob and not those who choose to use these drugs. Governments could then implement measures to ween people off these hard drugs completely and take control of the black market.
geezgsr 2 years ago
@zitianaki
No. There are three reasons why addicts turn to crime when they're banned:
1. Drugs are really expensive when they're illegal, and are hard to finance without turning to crime or prostitution.
2. Making it illegal discourages addicts from seeking treatment.
3. If an addict is already considered a criminal and is risking years in jail for taking drugs, what difference does it make if he commits other crimes.
drskinnypuppy 2 years ago
I believe ron paul wanted to end the war on drugs and legalize drugs. That is real change America could of used since it would of lower our budget and reduce the crime rate in America. Drug cartels and gangs would not be able to profit from this black market in order to buy weapons. There would also be less turf wars.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The majority of the US knows that the drug wars are costly, ineffective and violate personal freedom. Then add to the fact that the younger generations are less and less morally conservative republicans. Not to mention that much of the younger generation.

the ironic thing is keeping drugs illegal probably does more harm to people overall, as it funds criminal activity and brings everyday people into contact with organized criminals, also because of this there are no standards by which the big dealers have to adhere to, washing powder in your cocaine? thank criminalization.

, and waaay more money back into the government (for the people.. ya right..) , not all people that choose to drink or do drugs cause any disturbance to others in the community. It is adult controlled substance use. Drugs and alcohol have always been and always will be a freedom of choice.
250hollatchcabro 2 years ago
The difference is if someone chooses to consume alcohol, so long as it is done lawfully, generally there isn't an issue other than a headache in the morning. Of course excessive drinking may lead to problems. If someone chooses to ingest a narcotic such as heroin for example, generally that individual is hooked after using only once. Heroin, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, these substances cause people to behave in ways they normally wouldn't. As a result some individuals turn to crime.....
NDNPolice 2 years ago
How many people chose to drink or do drugs? CLEARLY it is more common in our society than naive people tend to believe, it is not the drug dealers that are forcing people to buy them, people are making their own grown up decisions, but with the drug of choice being illegal, thus harder to find, it makes it very profitable to sell, supply and demand, so if drugs were legalized and sold to adults like alcohol there would be no more profit for the dealers,

@dilemmix Legalize Cocaine? BOOM, mexican drug cartels are fucked out of business, or they start selling legally, and all of the violence ends.
manbearpig91 1 year ago
@manbearpig91 True. It's a choice. Either let the government regulate it like alcohol and tobacco, and create more tax income that they could use towards health and prevention services, or let the maffia/black market run it and drain money away from taxpayers this way. It doesn't take rocket science... so why are most countries reluctant to legalise even soft drugs?
dilemmix 1 year ago
@dilemmix but then theres lots of grey area. What sort of regulations will law makers impose? how open will the trade be? how acquirable will it be? Also, where is the line drawn between hard drugs and soft drugs? How high should the tax be to out compete the black market but remain profitable? Granted legalization is due, and the rewards are waiting, but its not going to work without careful planing.

JuanVoyce 2 years ago
Poor guy you just dont understand this issue obv. The war on drugs is a failure we are arresting people at a unreal rate and wasting trillions of dollars doing it instead of giving these people the proper treatment we toss them in jail
RegulateAndEducate 2 years ago
Instead of educating our kids and opening more programs we just laugh at them and look past it and think oh war on drugs yea thats good . Well 70 years at war and nothing has changed but more drugs are coming in and higher quality. Why wouldnt we legalize and regulate them e
RegulateAndEducate 2 years ago

Go write a letter now!

yes drugs should be legal. why is the government obsessed with extending peoples lives? when they cant afford to support them. let people do what they want so what if they die at 50 its thier life

the arguement I heard is because it costs the taxpayers $ for the ambulance ride, etc. Therefore, the gov't is making it their business.
all028 2 years ago
Many prisons are becoming private, so there is indeed profit to be made in keeping drugs illegal.
MarxBakuninMe 2 years ago
Drugs should be legalised out of principle. It's my body - I should have the choice to do what I want with it. And no, I would not choose to do drugs as I understand the dangers. Nevertheless, it's your choice.
MarxBakuninMe 2 years ago
Do you believe children should have the right to do drugs? Afterall, it's their body not yours or mine
all028 2 years ago
Children do not have the capacity to make informed decisions.
MarxBakuninMe 2 years ago
I agree children do not have the capacity. But what if the parents gave them permission? Would it be acceptable to you then?
all028 2 years ago
The parents should know better. The rest of us shouldn't have to suffer because some loons give drugs to their kids.
Actually, parents give their kids drugs quite often in the Western world these days, what with drugs for depression, ADHD, insomnia - powerful, mood altering drugs (I know, I've used some in the past) . . . many are addictive. Is that acceptable?
MarxBakuninMe 2 years ago
So this nullifies your 1st point when you say "The parents should know better"

stick to watching wrestling ALL028 everyone look at his channel he probably thinks wrestling is real you are seriously misinformed
realdeal0083 2 years ago
No, I don't think wrestling is real. It's just something I watch for fun. Don't ASSUME I think it's real.
To try and discredit someone for watching wrestling tells me you choose not to listen to anyone. Are you saying a guy watches wrestling, therefore he doesn't know what he's talking about. You don't even know my background...

Actually all028 is right. I play video games so does that make my point of view invalid? All028's questions are legitimate.

Try and name a few reasons prohibition stops childrens use...
alfyajw 2 years ago
LOL is it legal for you to give your kid beer or a ciggarette no so why would it be any different if all drugs were regulated and out of dealers and cartels hands they dont care if your kid buys there drugs. We got half of the tobacco smokers to stop smoking in the last 10 years and not from prohibition through Education
RegulateAndEducate 2 years ago
No one believes that silly but its easier for our kids to get crack then alchohol and you know who else is for this war on drug? Drug Dealers and DRug Cartels thats who you guys support by supporting the war on drugs
RegulateAndEducate 2 years ago 2
I don't agree I'm supporting directly or indirectly the dealers & cartels. They should be thrown in jail.
Do you honestly believe if it were legalized NOW that the dealers & cartels would go away? Don't you think they would change their business? Or, move their business to another country?
all028 2 years ago
Well prohibition creates the DRUG dealer and DRUG cartels how does it not if its regulated put age limits on it card people make them use new needles and eliminate the drug dealer educate our kids on the matter and give the schools better education its silly not too legalize you just keep thinking that doing the same thing over and over and over and getting results if more drugs in the country and think thats the way to go
RegulateAndEducate 2 years ago
people should be thrown away for violent crimes, or dealing substances that have been proven to do physical and mental harm. And you think that legalizing drugs won't help? do you know anyone who grows tobacco plants to save money... not to mention get rid of the harmful carcinogens found in cigarettes, NO. Ending prohibition wouldn't necessarily destroy all cartels, but it would definetily hinder their business which so far we've failed at.
alfyajw 2 years ago
You've asked alot of questions so I'll try to get to them all:
1. You say "Do you know anyone who grows tobacco plants to save money..." Yes, the indian reserves are growing/smuggling/selling cigarettes to undercut the taxes and sell to teens
2. You say "No, ending prohibition wouldn't necessarily destroy all cartels..." I think we agree on this point. Look at Amsterdam where it is legal. They took their business elsewhere or undersell the going rate...
all028 2 years ago
I question your view point on drugs that do physical and mental harm. That's a slippery slope, as many prescription
