The poor little slugs! Raised to be food! What kind of life is that? Those ducks are like huge Dinosaurs to a slug! The terror! And what about that poor baby slug?
@Jefferdaughter Well, one COULD see it that way. I thought she was being much too hard on herself for having killed a slug. It would be unrealistically principled of her to equate all other animal life to human life.
I hate slugs. I love duck! can't wait to be back in CA, and I will have a few ducks! Lots of turkeys around here (Spokane) and i just keep thinking about a great dinner--but I'm not a hunter. Now, if my old boss was here....we'd have lots of turkey, duck, even moose & wild boar in the freezer!
jen, you don't want to kill slugs without a purpose, so you got ducks, now you don't have any slugs. The purpose of getting the ducks was to reduce the slugs, so now you breed slugs...industrial agriculture is just around the corner my dear
I don't know if that's too wise, a slugariam? Funny though, cute ducks, I think I could kill slugs very easily, let them drown via beer in a shallow plate is humane! ;D
We've always used ducks for slug control and egg production; we also have free range chickens for pest control. Learn to co-mingle your animals for maximum production (Sheep & Goats, etc).
Ducks are just too stinkin' CUTE! I don't have a problem with slugs on our property, but you've got me thinking about raising some specifically for our Khaki Campbell ducks :-)
You hated killing them...now you raise them to have ducks kill them hahaha

This woman compared herself to Hitler for having killed a garden slug? Oh, no no no.
Helmholz42 3 weeks ago
@Helmholz42 -That is a lot like saying that the people Hitler killed were slugs, isn't it?

Those are some skinny ducks, what are they, runners?
Have to say I had not considered raising slugs. I thought maybe earthworms would make good duck and chicken treats. Maybe a video on raising slugs?
