Why would you pair up realistic graphics for a game that isn't even realistic? Surely if you were a game developer you must match your Graphics with your story, and your type of Gameplay. For example, OKAMI (made by the same developers of this game, Bayonetta) had an art like texture to it. and it was praised for its graphics and originality; it fitted the story and lore.
